I've cleaned the laser eye with a Q-tip and I blowed the dust out with a can of air and it still isn't acting right. Most all of my games are spotless, like new (talk about that in another thread, some might remember). I did not bare down while cleaning the lens either. I need your guys/girls help! This is driving me crazy! It doesn't seem like they'res anything else I can do. Is there?

You could always just buy a used Xbox from EB Games for 39.99.

zael99, tried that, the one I had bought from Gamestop about a month ago was way worse. But thanks for thinking of something.

Get a 360? That way you can play regular xbox and 360 games. (Genius! Am I Right?)

Not all XBox games are compatible with the XBox360. Besides, it'd be cheaper to just buy another XBox.

I've had 2 different 360's and they started acting funny (Red lights) so I'm going to eventually get another PS3 (Rented one for awhile and really enjoyed it). Just trying to figure out if I can get my Xbox working right w/o buying anything, I'm talking about something to do with cleaning or whatever.

What exactly is wrong with it? Is it just not reading the discs properly?

Well, it started off, during gameplay, mainly like getting to a checkpoint, it would freeze and then say "Disc could not be read, may be dirty or damaged" so I cleaned it (the Xbox) using q-tip and alcohol and blowing out the dust with a can of air. That seemed to have made it worse, cause I was playing Project Gotham Racing and when I started a race, the screen was all different colors, mostly pink with some yellow and green. Project Gotham doesn't have no scratches, spots, or smudges along with 20 others that I have. And like I previously stated, I DID NOT BEAR DOWN when cleaning the laser with the q-tip and alcohol, and when I sprayed out the dust I did not shake the can or turn it upside down to where any moisture/water came out, so I have no idea why this is happening other than it just acting like a typical Xbox...thanks to everyone for all the feedback, keep it coming, please. I really want to have an Xbox and keep all of the 25 games, seems like I've went through so much trouble!

I agree, unless you have the means to just replace the laser.
