Yeah, I know. For starters, it's a Wii U game... And it has the aesthetics of a game belong in a librarian's story time program. But damn, this is a high quality game. Don't let anybody fool you into thinking otherwise. Touching on the graphics again, it's very charming, clever and of course cute. It also is highly detailed and in my opinion is one of the best looking if not the best looking Wii U games out.
The level design is also fantastic. Sure, it's an easy game if you just want to blow through it, but that's really the point of playing. The point of playing is finding all the goodies. To be honest, I'm not really that excited about finding all the stamps, since I never use them in Miiverse (and actually haven't used Miiverse during this game at all). I just collect the skeins so I can unlock the different colored Yoshis (and they're ALL so adorable!) and of course the flowers so I can unlock the S-rank levels. Just trying to FINISH one of these levels is a challenge, so trying to grab all the stuff in it is even more so. And if you get all the skeins in the S-rank levels, you unlock Yoshis designed after Nintendo consoles! Very cool!
Granted, I haven't played the really big AAA titles this year like Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, MGS V and probably won't even play Halo 5. So I get it if many of you won't even consider Yoshi's Woolly World, but for me, it's the most impressive game I've played this year. I really, really appreciate not only a cleverly designed platformer, but an extremely charming one as well. That's one of the reasons why I enjoyed Kirby's Epic Yarn so much.
Anyone else playing this?
