For me,dissapointments in gaming happen when good PC orriented franchises become simplified and streamlined console ports, the biggest gaming dissapointment I had recently was when I saw "Press Start to Continue","Adjust your TV settings" and no graphics adjustments settings in Crysis 2 on my PC...
Probably the promises associated with Fable and the original Mass Effect . . . not that either were bad games (in fact, I liked them both quite a bit), but the promises that the developers made were incredibly vast. In ME's case, for instance, Bioware spoke of a whole galaxy at your grasp, with multiple star clusters, with multiple stars, and multiple planets to explore. This was superficially true, but each planet was basically the exact same, with only one or two things to do per planet (destroy a mercenary base, collect minerals).masterpinky2000Oh, but those merc bases were so diverse! :P

Agreed, "crappy pc port" should never have become a phrase in the English language. Consolification has robbed us of so many games, and is holding back gaming in general because of console's limitations.

I'm tired of all this "consoles are holding gaming back" crap, if it werent for consoles, gaming would prolly already be dead. Consoles are what makes it possible for 90% of people to play games because they don't want to spend $1,000 on a decent computer plus another $200 every year or two to update said computer just to play their games. There would be far fewer developers and a lot less games because if consoles didnt exist most developers wouldnt even bother making games since there wouldnt be as big of an audience for them which would mean less potential money to be made. You should be glad you even get a "crappy PC port" because most developers could easily say screw the PC and still make just as much money as they do now.
Either Fallout 3 (I know it's a great game but just as a disappointment to me because I sucked at it) or L.A. Noire.

Why do people have to fight about PC gaming and Console gaming? Why can't they be viewed as one big thing? I laugh at people who fight over Microsoft vs Sony vs Nintendo vs PC when I can enjoy all 4 and be the happiest gamer. You are right, if anything neither consoles nor PC are pushing gaming forward too much. As far as I'm concerned, I-Phone/Tablet games are the games with the real innovation these days.Oh and for a downgrade as a series, the Halo series. Halo 3= awesome. ODST= boring. Reach= mediocre.

1000$ for a decent PC with 200$ every year?
*yawn*
Such an old, tired and untrue statement, that in the end serves for nothing else but to show how you have no knowledge or experience with PC gaming...
While Im not the one who thinks consoles should die and I admit how without consoles there would be less developers in general(I may be a PC gamer, but I don't hate consoles, only bad ports and holding back the PC capabilities),could you explain me why should I be happy with the "crappy PC port" when Steam is growing more and more with every year, when games with big budget like BF3 and SW:TOR are clearly PC orriented or in TOR case,PC exclusive(Its also currently the most expensive game ever made,130 million dollar budget, also,as a MMO,it won't be ported to console)?
As you can see, there is still a lot of money in PC gaming, especially for companies like Valve who treat the PC community with respect(even with piracy or whatever,Portal 2 is still sold the most on the PC).
I remember starting Final Fantasy 8 thinking "7 was awesome, this is going to be even better!", then I found out it was about a goofy kid in a fur collar leater suit mehing his way towards the fight against a big boobed witch. HeartbrokenBlack_Knight_00
How dare you.
Hmmm....maybe not the biggest disappointment ever, but one of the more recent ones was when I found out that Uncharted 3 didn't include cutscenes to e viewed. However, they were later added, so I guess I can't complain.
Crysis 2 was a huge slap in the face for any PC gamer. Crytek practically trolled PC gamers with that game when it launched. It's a bit better now visuals wise but when it released it annoyed every single PC gamer. It didn't feel like a Crysis game at all
It also didn't feel like Crysis because of the linear "you can't go there: invisible wall" gameplay. Oh and aliens running in circles.Crysis 2 was a huge slap in the face for any PC gamer. Yep and that's still only scratching the surface. It felt like a crysis game with no soul anymore. Just bells and whistles that looked and sounded good but quickly lost their appeal

And upgraded invisibility is a joke: once you have it you can walk past any enemy in the game exception made for the end level set pieces. I blame EA for this, there's no way Crytek thought "Hm, let's go and change our formula that has worked since the original FarCry. Let's make a linear, scripted game". Smells like corporate interference a mile away.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"]

Gran Turismo 4 being delayed another 6-months only about a month before it was supposed to come out. Man I was pissed....
i guess the way people praised dragon age 1,2 and i found them to be garbage,i also hated mass effect 1 but enjoyed the hell out of the second.odd...
Mercenaries 2. What a piece of **** They released a half finished sequel filled with glitches, bugs and terrible A.I. Not to mention the design choices the made ruined the game.
The most disappointing game for me was Dragon Age 2. Thats not to say i didnt like the game. I enjoyed playing it, was better than some other games becuase i love the Dragon Age universe but compared to the orignal its a really pathetic attempt
for a single game Marvel Ulitmate Alliance 2. A release day purchase and my biggest Disappoint this seventh generation. of"All time" the Nintnedo 64 console. 2 years and 6 months I was disappointed on launch day.
Probably the Sims 3 on the wii. That game was awful, all the bugs and glitches. PC version was better though...
Splinter cell Conviction.
I didnt ask for this. I wanted a stealth game. I was served a action, shooter. Nuff said
Star Trek Legacy. Basically killed single player Star Trek gaming. Shouldn't have been release for another year.
Tough call, but I guess I have to go with Gran Turismo 5. It was pretty much the reason I decided to go with the PS3 over the 360 years ago because I knew that one day the game would come out on PS3. I'm not sure if it was the game itself, my declining interest in racers, or a combination of both, but the game was a huge letdown. Luckily other games have made my PS3 purchase worthwhile.
