Theatre Europe for the Commodore 64 from 1985. A strategy game that had NATO versus the Warsaw Pact. You moved blue or red dots around a map of Europe and could drop nukes on cities and armies. Still remember the first time I won, a great feeling. Pat yourself on the back if you played this game and can still remember the launch code you had to type if you wanted to launch a nuke. I always took out Berlin and Third Shock Army right off the bat to win.
Mat Mania/Exciting Hour in the arcades in 1985. Best wrestling game I've probably played in my life. With just two buttons, you could do everything you'd expect to do in a wrestling game. Will never forget Coco Savage and how much of a pain he could be.
Conflict from 1990 for the Amiga. A political simulator that saw you playing a country in the Middle East trying to survive and disrupt your neighbours. Spent many an hour having fun with this game. Other great but forgotten political simulators that I liked where Floor 13 and Shadow President.
Hunter for the Amiga from 1991. Long before Battlefield 1942 and Grand Theft Auto, there was this game. The first sandbox open world game I remember playing. You could travel from island to island and use different vehicles like a boat or a bike. Can't remember finishing the missions, I just remember how incredible it felt to be able to travel from one area to another. A glimmer of what was to come.
Mini Car Racing for the PC from 2000. Found it at Staples in the discount bin years ago and talk about a unjust fate for a great game. Imagine slot car racing with weapons. It's one of those games that you imgaine growing up as a kid and then somebody makes it and it doesn't stink.
Trophy Hunter 2003 for the PC from 2002. The best hunting game I have ever played. Game allowed for custom maps and there were some great ones made. Sad that hunting games never bettered this effort.
