I have fond memories of the Sega Megadrive. I got it 16 years ago and it only came with Sonic, I played Sonic for 4 months until I got some more games for Christmas. It's got some outstanding games available for it.
We've already had this topic a couple of times, but my favourite is the SNES. It had a number of amazing games, including my top 3 favourites of all time:

I was going to say I can't be the only to have enjoyed the PS1 the most. FF7, 8, 9, Star Ocean 2, Dragon Quest 7, Legend of Dragoon. So many excellent RPGs.
SEGA Genesis. Got it in February of 1992. I won it in a contest. Originally the grand Prize was a copy of Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past. I didn't have an NES and they let me trade it for a Genesis. Awesomeness. Got the SEGA channel a few years later. Best gaming years of my life.
Sega Mega Drive or Sega Saturn, both had a great selection of memorable games.
Love playing Sonic, Toe Jam and Earl, Quackshot, Golden Axe on my Mega Drive, for the Sega Saturn its Street Fighter Alpha, Guardian Heroes, Alien Trilogy, also the first console I played Tomb Raider on :)
Super Nintendo, hands down. Great library of games, and cartridges, while expensive to make and bulky, hold up really well to being thrown across the room in anger. Plus, the controller was simplistic and worked great (also held up well to being thrown.)
I'm going to have to go with the Genesis. It wasn't my first but it's one I played the most... I love it. I still play it too... there's nothing like sitting down and playing some Castlevania or Sonic, or any of the other amazing games that I love... www.resumeplay.net
PS1, the fact that this console, has MGS1 and FF7/8/9alone puts it above other consoles. added to that games like Grandia (yeah I know it was on Saturn first), Tekken, Spiderman 1-2, Resident Evil 3.
Sega Mega Drive. For no other reason than the nostalgia of playing so many awesome games between the ages of 7 and 11.
And the original PlayStation. Amazing variety of games, and everyone I knew had one so it was awesome being able to play the same games my friends were playing and share the experiences. It's the only system I've ever owned where I've been able to do that.
I'll have to go with the SNES for sure, becuase it was the first console i ever played and it has got some of the best games i have ever played on it. It also has my all time favorite game Super Metroid.
the n64 was the best system ever made. it had the best 007 game, Mario game, Zelda game, and countless awesome games. the gamecube i also like very much and think is underrated.

Abacus (Have to compile your code yourself and takes for freaking ever to play a game of Xs and Os)
