What are your greatest gaming moments?

I'll start:

Blowing up a Japanese Zero in a Sherman tank on Battlefield 1943.

C4ing a MCOM station in BC2: Vietnam and waiting for a guy to disarm... tee-hee priceless.

RPGing a Huey in BC2: Vietnam.

Headshoting 2 guys in Halo3 with 1 bullet.

Taking down a Heli in BFBC2 with a Russian Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher without locking onto tracer dart. Not the greatest gaming moment, but every time I nail a Heli like that, it's pretty awesome.

Finishing the fight against Dagoth Ur, going out of the volcano and seeing blue skies above Red Mountain. - Morrowind

Pretty much whole last 20% of Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy.

Epilogue of The Witcher.

Knife fight against Krauser. - Resident Evil 4

Tyrant, second fight. Killing Alexander. - Resident Evil: Code Veronica X

Quiz. - Banjo Kazooie

Seeing torn up Washington Monument up-close. - Fallout 3

Sovereign going down. Conversation with Vigil. - Mass Effect - Definitely my favorite non-action gaming moment ever. Pretty much the whole awesome story is explained in 5 minute conversation with an AI. All questions that have bothered you for the last 10+ hours of the game are explained. The truth you found was disheartening but you had to break the cycle.

A trip to the country mission. Ending of the lucky bastard mission on the docks. Final fight. - Mafia

Too many missions to name them all in San Andreas.

Experiencing open-endedness of GTA 3.

Getting on the alien planet. - Half Life

Going back to your home. - Red Dead Redemption

Couple of moments in God of War 1 and 2.

Ending of Max Payne. Couple of missions in Max Payne 2.

The bank mission in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

Final fight in Turok 2.

Much, much more to remember. I didn't go to detail because if you haven't played these games then it's not really worth it for me to give description because those moments must be experienced. Reading about them won't give you much insight and it would take too much of my time. The only exception is Mass Effect because I still fondly remember that moment of the best story out of all games that I have played.

Finally liberating the land of Terimina in Majora's Mask from the reign of the mask.

Most of the Zelda games have great conclusions, actually, and make you get a good feeling.

On the flip side, I guess making a map in Brawl, where someone I know fell into a hole and couldn't get out of it, landing on spikes repeatedly... he got 999ified, as me and my friends call it.

Levelling up a Pokemon to level 100 always feels good.

Dark Ages of Camelot - When 8 of us Midgards defended against 200+ attackers in Albion for 24 hours defending and holding it until we left. At times there was a constant ongoing battle from the Lords room as the melee blocked the doors and would rush the stairs supported by PBAOE spiritmasters. Once pushed back we'd quickly repair doors forcing them to withdrawal before another attack.

I can't really say the moments are specific for me, but here are some of my greatest gaming memories:

  • Leveling in Durotar, Barrens, Ashenvale & Stonetalon while listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'd make new characters & did this countless times over the course of my WoW days.
  • Playing AV towards the end of vanilla WoW with my full High-Warlord decked out Tauren Warrior.
  • Raiding Karazhan with 9 mates until the early hours of morning, most of us missing school the next day.
  • A million other things over years of playing WoW until it started going downhill.
  • The entirety of LoZ: OoT & MM which I played with my brother & dad (my dad being someone that's usually never interested in games).
  • Getting the achievement in Gears of War 2 for soloing 50 waves in Horde Mode by holding out in the abandoned bar in the 'Nowhere' map while listening to my Black Keys playlist.
  • Halo 3 multiplayer, especially when playing with my cousin on weekend events: zombie & rocket race weekends being our favourites.
  • Playing Super Smash Bros with my two brothers
  • Fishing & item farming in NIER while watching the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
  • Playing Minecraft while listening to Gorillaz.

Some of those are a lot more memorable than others, but the WoW & family ones are generally my most memorable.

Edit: One specific moment I can remember was in Halo CE. I was playing local multiplayer with my brother on Sidewinder & he was in a warthog on the other side of the map driving very close to the wall. I had a rocket launcher & aimed way ahead of him & fired. I didn't expect anything to come from it but I watched it travel for about 6 seconds (which is a pretty long time) & the timing was perfect. Hit the warthog square in the side & sent it flying into the mountain wall beside it.

I got a Japanese APC and filled it full of Japanese troops, then I drove it to the ocean and junped out, allowing them to drown in the vehicle, but I made it. - Mercenaries

I rolled over and bridge and meant to roll into an enemy, and another time I rolled under a horizontally-closing door JUST before it closed. Once I completed a mission and only used a cardboard box and a magazine. - MGS Peace Walker

I took one of my side's ships and flew it into an AAT, I jumped out at just the right time and survived, but do to the game not counting that as heavy damage to the vehicle, the AAT didn't explode, but of course, my little ship did. - Star Wars Battlefront

Pokemon Soulsilver, when I finally vanquished Red. T'was a glorious moment, manly tears of valiant warriors were shed that day.

Outrunning the Lich King in World of Warcraft. I felt like Hermes or something.

Planescape Torment - Beating the final boss completely through dialogue...quite possibly the best ending "battle" and sequence I've ever experienced.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Beating Ganon in his final form...with a group of my friends in the room cheering me on the whole time since I was the first one in the group to beat the game.

Half-Life 2 - My first playthrough on PC when it first came out in '04, everything from the graphics and visuals at the time to the setting and atmoshere just had this big "Wow!" effect on me and proved it to be a game that certainly lived up to the high expectations for those who had long been waiting for a sequel to Half-Life. To this day HL2 is probably my favorite FPS and one of the rare times a game I had really been anticipating not only met my high expectations, but completely surpassed them.

Resident Evil 4 - My first playthrough on Gamecube, and immediately after beating it starting a whole new replay cause the game was that good.

Metroid Prime
- Getting 100% on my first playthrough. Definitely one of the best games of last gen.

Ico - My first playthrough, and probably the game in that generation that made me feel like we had really moved into a new generation at the time...not only in terms of graphics but in terms of what was possible with artistic game design.

Silent Hill 3 - The revelation of Heather's real identity, and the glee I felt in knowing that with this revelation that SH3 was practically a love letter to fans of the original game in one of the coolest ways possible.

Getting a no-scope One Shot Two Kills on Grid. -Black Ops I know plenty of people can do it, but for someone who sucks at COD, this was pretty awesome. Especially since it was intentional. Taking down Griever and Ultimecia was pretty epic. Beating six people on a row switching between Nina and King. I had a severe handicap on the whole time, just to prove i could still win. - Tekken 6 Beating Mario World in 15 minutes without dying or getting hit once.
