I believe The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time IS one of the best games ever made. It's not my favorite however (that title belongs to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past). I do think LoZ:OoT is flawless in every way! I never experienced any issues with my multiple play throughs and it's the time of game I want to play again and again.

If you think it's flawless you are mentally unstable. Just the Z-targetting itse;f is a fail for you missing a slow moving target. In fact, the Z-target actually doesn't target the actual target. I is also a horribly slow paced game with a big world but the game guides you in a very linear way. The auto jumping has no real control, and etc. etc. etc. It's not whether YOU think you haven't had any problems but everyone know those problems happen everytime and if I hear one more person call the game flawless and complain about the freaking water temple one more time....

Why isn't he allowed to find it flawless? It's his opinion. I could find Superman 64 flawless and you couldn't say I can't.

Posts like these make me think you're just some anti-Nintendo fanboy.

The worst part is that some of those claims are not even true

Mentally unstable? I suppose you think that each player experiences the same thing when they play a particular video game. Maybe YOU had a problem with the Z-targeting-I didn't. Yeah, the Z-targeting actually does target the actual target (when you know what you're doing). Slow-paced? were you expecting a hyper-active experience? the big world is a draw not a drawback. The auto-jumping doesn't need control-it does the job it's supposed to do! you asked for an opinion and this is MY opinion. My sincere apologies if my experience and feelings don't match YOURS (actually I don't need to apologize so apology withdrawn). You have your opinion regarding the game and I have mine and considering I've played video games for the past 20+ years I believe I know a great game when I play one.

At the time of the Ocarina of time. In 1997 this was the finest example of what could be done with Nintendo's64bit console. A game worth playing today if you have not done so. But that was in 1997 which was 14years ago.So in 2011 people may have the reaction of Huh... Nintendo made great games for the N64. Just a shame that there weren't more for that system. Out of about 525 N64 games released from 1996-2001 how many were great?Legend ofZeldaOcarina of time was 1 of them. It is just that the N64 didn't have more that 40 Awesome games in its lifespan.

Ocarina of time deserved it's praise

I don't think many people, including myself, are gonna have a problem with it because it's old. Most of us that frequent this forum do it because we love old video games. In another forum, sure, but here, no.

Yeah, but you're not going to be as blown away by it as people who played it when it first came out either. Especially since it's an old 3D game. Not to mention the newer Zelda's have improved greatly on what OoT laid down. That said, I have seen people on the Wii forums who say they only played it recently and thought it deserved all of its praise.

I wasn't blown by it when it came out. There were to many empty open area, and more collecting of the X number of things to get to point a. The game wasn't fun to me and I enjoyed Banjo more. I believe the fact is that the N64 barely had a large number of good quality games, and considering that many of the crap games on the system didn't look or play like it it got praise. The rest of the praise was to sell N64's as I saw in magazines at the time. "The game does what no playstation game can do." I mean, I am not the biggest PS1 guy but I believe there are many playstation games that can do more than what it can. For one, I believe 30+ Hyrule fields can fit in one Spyro game. MediEvil was not as big, but it had a lot more going on and less empty. I will admit the game is pretty good. But it is not deserving of gamespots version of Superb. an 8.5 is a good score for it. Hell, the only N64 score I think gamespot got right was Mariokart's. IMO

I never played it, I played Majoras Mask and loved that (only Zelda I played besides the one for SNES)... I had alot of fun with Majoras Mask and many people tell me it is the better game anyways. I think the reason OoT got the better reviews is because it came out first maybe and defined 3D action adventures. I want to try OoT someday as its pretty cheap for N64 and maybe I will try it this summer when I am done with finals. I won't get my hopes real high because I tryed FF7 off psn and it was honestly one of the biggest disappointments I had and I couldn't even finish it. (I liked 9 alot more) I am sure that OoT still can offer some enjoyment but I doubt it is still by modern standards the best game (judging my gameplay videos)Banjo_Kongfooie

If you didn't have a problem with MM you shouldn't with Ocarina. It's really the exact same type of game, except maybe a bit more open because of the lack of a time limit.

Majoras mask also had a lot more going on with the time limit without the emptyness. Playing Ocarina of time after Majoras mask will be slower paced to the person. But hey, he might like less things going on.
