When it comes to video games, what are some embarrassing things that you can't admit around other gamers? Admit them here and let's all have a good laugh about them.

- Other than StarFox, Mario Is Missing, and every Sonic the Hedgehog game for Genesis (besides 3D Blast), I never played a "mascot" game during the 16-bit era

- I have no idea what most popular games (Halo, Crysis, Mass Effect, etc.) are about

- I used to think Poke'Mon Snap was a good game

- I used to think Yoshi's Story was good

- I never played a video game until I was 7

- I thought Manhunt was overrated crap

- I never played a Zelda game

- I never played a Metroid game

- I neversaw a Sega Saturn before, and don't know what games are for it

- I never played Game Gear

- The most recent Mortal Kombat game I played was MK4 on N64

hmm, not really embarrased to say but:
- hated the Metroid Prime games on the Cube
- dislike RE4 with a passion.
- completed maybe 1 or 2 games out of my entire collection
- i enjoy Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver over the new Pearl and Diamond
- i love my PS1 over my PS2

I don't have thepatience to play games like Hitman and Metal Gear Solid... I've tried but I just want to run out and shoot everyone in their faces.

I can be stealthy in other games, just not for a whole game

- I had a Dreamcast for 6 or 7 yearsand never owned a game, except a couple of demos. Plus, I never played any DC games, not even at friends' house.

- An unfortunate and mysterious XBox breakdown back in 2003 ended my chances of being an XBox fan before I could even start...

- The only XBox game I played was Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee

- The first and only time I played an XBox 360 game was in a game design class, a few months ago

1) Despite labeling BioShock as a "disappointment" in some threads, at the same time it was also one of the best game experiences I've had in the past 5 years, one of the best FPS games I've ever played....dare I say it....I enjoyed even more then HL2.
In terms of an immersive experience, BioShock has now actually edged out SMG as my personal GOTY for 2007, and I didn't actually realize this till my second playthrough and I approached it as an original IP rather then a follow-up to a completely different game.

So how could I have labeled one of the best games I've played initially as a "disappointment".....simply because it wasn't what I initially wanted, ie, a tense and creepy "spiritual successor" to System Shock 2 (specifically the tense and creepy part).

However what I later discovered is its just as good in term of an overall gaming experience (and in some aspects even better) in which I see it now as being like an amusing twisted ride through Disneyland if Walt had been on acid when he designed it.

I guess my "dark secret" can be seen as an example of how the stuborness of initial expectations can sometimes blind you to the fact what you actually get may be different, but it can be just as good (or even better) to what you originally wanted.

2) Despite being an "Avid" PC Gamer....I've never played a Starcraft or Warcraft game in my life.

3) I had an N64 as my primary console for 4 years....and didn't experience Perfect Dark while I had it.

4) I had a Gamecube for 5 years, and never once experience Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Well, I'm past the age where I would be embarassed about admitting my personal tastes, but I see what you're getting at.

- I own all three Halo games and I haven't beaten them

- I found Bioshock pretty lackluster and I put it down months ago and haven't returned since

- I doubt if I've beaten even half the games in my collection

- Despite being a horror film fanatic and the game having qualities that I should lap right up , I find Dead Rising broken and hard to get into at all

- I enjoyed Perfect Dark Zero, particularly the multiplayer

- I own a few of the Metal Gear Solid games and I've probably put in less than 10 hours total...yet I'm still interested in MGS4

- I find Geometry Wars to be among the five best games currently available for the 360

- I've owned a PS3 for 13 months and I have 2 games and roughly 15 hours of gameplay on it

- Aidyn Chronicles and Shadowgate 64 rank among my top 15-20 favorite N64 games

- I can't get into the Grand Theft Auto games too much

- Grandia II > Skies of Arcadia

- Final Fantasy Tactics was crap

- I've always found Zelda II to be one of the best entries in the franchise

My advice would be give it another try.

When I originally played it shortly after it released, I couldn't get into it since my preconcieved expectations of what I expected it to be clouded my judgement of the great game it was.

I recently decided to give it another playthrough.....this time going in with a more open mind and this time deciding to view the title for what it is rather then what I originally expected it to be, and I now rank it as my favorite FPS game...even outclassing HL2...in addition I now consider it the best release of 2007 that I've played (I've pretty much played all the major GOTY nominees from last year).

I think almost any game is fun cuz I'm too optimistic...but then again I know a piece of...well you know, (sunshine) Called it...but still like it ..whats wrong with me

I didn't know that my nes was never even mine (was my sisters)...that means that GASP my Sega Genesis was my first system NINTENDO I FAILED YOU!!

I spent a week looking for pegasus boots in link to the past...when I already owned them...o and i didnt know I had to use them to run into the bookshelf to get the book....and also at the same time that week i started wind waker..and i didnt know that i had to roll into the deku tree to throw the baddies off.....The lesson I learned...If your stuck in Zelda just try running into things.

I never knew who samus was when i got smash on n64 ...and hardly knew link yet now I own more than half the zelda games.

I own baten kaitos and tales of symphonia and everytime i get far my friends borrow it from me and i gotta start all over again....still havent beaten either.

............I.......hit myself with my wiimote........shut up.

Never played any MGS or DMC games.

I didnt hate HL2 but i just didnt find it anything special. Cant see why its so loved!

I really dislike Half Life 2.

I am a huge Zelda fan yet i thought TP was absolute rubbish and i sold it after finishing it.

I got a wii in january last year and sold my only two games shortly after. I've yet to buy another one.

I really think Super mario 64 is a terrible game.

That's good advice, but I honestly had no preconceived notions going into it. I didn't follow the game much, the release date was suddenly there, and I didn't buy it until a few weeks or even a month after its release.

I'm sure I will go back eventually, just to be certain.

- Until I played SSB: Melee, I thought Samus was a man

- When I first got SSB: Melee, I only knew the Mario characters, the StarFox characters, the Poke'Mon characters, Link, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and of course the returning characters from N64

- I used to think Link's name was Zelda

I don't really have anything to be embarassed about to game gamers but I would be, maybe not embarassed, but reluctent to tell non-gamers that I spend way too much time gaming and I have completed all 57 in my collection. But talking to gamers, I'm proud of it! :D

1. I also used to think that "Zelda" was Link's name. The title can be quite deceptive for a child.

2. I've never had more than about 16 games for any system.

3. The system I've had the most games for is the GC, and I actually want a few more for it. I have and want fewer games for the PS2 and Xbox, which have bigger and more diverse libraries.

4. I didn't play an RE game until RE4 (unless you want to count trying out REmake for a couple minutes).

5. Probably the longest game drought I've had was between my first and second GC games, Rogue Leader and Smash Bros.

6. I only owned one game for the GC (Rogue Leader) for at least 8 long months after buying the console.

7. I really can't get much into Mario Kart games. In any case, I suck at them.

8. I sold my (bought used) Sega Master System for $30 years ago so I could buy a Star Trek Micro Machines collector's set.

9. I sold my GBA with the three Zeldas for some reason, can't remember why. I somewhat recently reaquired the games.

10. Selling my GBA (it was the original, though, which meant I had to keep buying batteries) means that without one, I have to play GB and GBC games on my GC. How awkward.

11. I sold/traded in my N64 and all the games so I could buy the GC's GB Player. I had SM64, Star Fox 64, and the Zeldas. I got the Zeldas back on the two special GC Zelda discs.

12. I've only bought two games out of pure fandom and not the games' merits: Bleach: Blade of Fate (DS) and Bleach: Shattered Blade (Wii). Blade of Fate is made by Treasure and is superb, but Shattered Blade sucks and I paid full price for it.

13. Not at all embarrassing, but perhaps a "dark secret", but I find the Metroid Primes boring if I play them long enough at a time, especially the first one.

14. The lack of game funds that resulted in no more than 16 games per system was the direct result of me stupidly spreading out my limited funds between three consoles and a handheld last gen. If I'd stayed with my first last gen system (GC), I could have used the $300 or so used for the Xbox and PS2 for more GC games. Although, in some ways, I'm thankful I didn't confine myself, since I would have missed out on several gems that have no rivals on the GC.

I've never beaten a Zelda game.

Upon further review, I don't really like any of the Zelda games. Windwaker is ok.

Not only do I not think Miyamoto is a god, I just don't think he's very good at creating games since SM64.

I used to pirate PC games (definate shame here)

I never owned a PS1 or PS2 for more than a few months.

-Probably the thing I'm most ashamed of is the amount of classic titles I have sitting around that I haven't played and really have barely even touched -- Grim Fandango, Baldur's Gate II, Deus Ex, Warcraft 2, Diablo 2, Vagrant Story, FF Tactics, Planescape: Torment, Xenogears, I could go on

-The second thing is just how addicted I got to WoW. Even amongst gamers I'm ashamed to admit it. I hadn't quite gotten to the point where I was one of those people you read about but I was heading down that path and I'm still not sure I've gotten over it, despite not having played in almost a year. It would take me an entire essay to share the details but they're pretty sad

-I'm also kind of embarrassed to admit that I never owned a SNES, PSX, DreamCast, or any handheld other than the original GameBoy because I took a very long break away from gaming outside of Zelda OoT, Majora's Mask and SM64. I've gone back and played a lot of stuff that I missed, but I kind of feel like there's something huge missing because of all the things I missed

-My "overrated" stuff... I'm always kind of afraid to share mine because it's always kind of silly/meaningless and some of mine are such beloved games... but here goes -- Chrono Trigger bored me... I hated Shadow of the Colossus because the controls were so herkyjerky that it just wasn't fun to play... As much as I truly loved FFVII, it really is very far from the best game ever made, despite what so many ppl seem to think... and I don't particularly care for the MGS series. Although I stuck all the way through 2 and 3 and had some fun with them, I really didn't enjoy the gameplay and the storyline is just silly, especially in 2.

I was going to put something else along the same lines of the guy who admitted getting aroused by Tomb Raider but I better stop there :D

Lets see

*I hate RE4 (RE is not a action adventure series!)

*I thought FFX and FFX-2 where the worst FF games ever

*I enjoyed playing Tenchu Z (for some reason it was kinda fun)

*I think Ratchet and Clank is the most overrated series ever

*I never will admit SSB series/games are fighting games (throwing people out of a ring is not fighting)

*Never really liked the GTA games (pretty much the same thing ever game, hopefully IV makes the series better)

*I highly disliked the first two DMC games

I:

-Enjoyed MP2

-Still have not beaten MP2, MGS2, Starfox Adventures, Zelda PH, and many other games

-Had to use a strategy guide on every Zelda game I played up until TP or after. (WW, OoS, and OoA)

-Would rather play 6th-gen games than any current-gen games

- I thought Silent Hill 2 was fantastic, but... the music really disturbed me & I ended up turning it off and listening to Jack Johnson whilst playing in an attempt to counteract the creepiness, but eventually stopped playing before completing it (even though I was dying to know what happened) because the scary atmostphere was just getting under my skin too much.

- Even though I really wanted to, I was to scared to play Silent Hill 3.

- I can't stand 1st person shooters!! Although I've played a couple because I got interested in the stories, I always feel 'this game would be so much better if it was 3rd person'. And it really annoys me that there's so bloody many of them!

- Alot of the time when I play GTA, I end up listening to the radio cruising around driving quite safely... not a dead pedestrian in sight.

1. Having played fps's since 1996 or so and pretty much every well regarded fps released since (and quite a few more obscure ones) I still regard Halo:CE as the overall greatest game in the genre, followed by AvP2, HL1 and the Marathon series.

2. I've never liked 3D Zeldas that much.

3. I think Yoshi's Island 2 is the best Mario game.

4. I imported one of the Evangelion dating sims from Japan knowing I wouldn't like it only because I love the anime series so much.

5. IMO PGR is the greatest racing game series ever.

6. I can't stand JRPGs for some reason.

7. I honestly believe Fallout 1&2 and Planescape: Torment can be compared to post modern literary cIassics.

8. IMO GTA 3 is by far the best GTA game.

9. After gameplay the most important aspect of a game for me is the art styIe. If I don't like a game's art styIe I can't appreciate its story no matter how good it is. So in a sense I'm kind of a graphics *****.

10. Despite having played Anarchy Online for some time and trying out Everquest back in the "good old days", WoW is still my favorite MMORPG of all time.

11. Despite owning a gamecube&N64 I've only played a SSB game once, don't own a single one and consider the whole franchise boring.

- First time I got to Kendo's Gun Shop in Resident Evil 2 and the zombies broke through the windows, I turned off my PlayStation and ran upstairs(I was like 9 years old, but still...I'm not proud of that moment)

I consider that most games are pure trash...

But those which I love....I reaaaaaalllly love them!

I refrain myself unless the game has some strong appeal in a way, or another. I would prolly never talk ill of the "worst games", as for me, they are not worst, they are not even games! :P So if I dirty talk a game, it is already an honor that I grant it my attention, cause after all, if I dirty talk...I like it on some levels and just want it to be better.

There is about as much chance I dirty talk about a FPS game then I could dirty-talk about Baseball, it will just not happen. A game about baseball? No time to waste there, won't dirty-talk it. See, TASTES are not debatable, there is no points in tastes-arguments...debating something mean that you, at least, like it much at some levels. When something has 0 appeal, you don't hunt it, you don't trash talk it, you just grant it total ignorance.

I wouldn't bother dirty talking a game which has 0 appeals or interest. So when I say Mask of the Betrayer is the worst expansion ever, although I mean it, completely, it also means that it could have been quite great if not for the soul-meter, really whoever put that soul-meter need some harsh time, damn you! If I take the time to say that raiding lack and Vanguard is a waste of time with raiding-enforcement, I mean it, but I also means...if it was not for this raiding...*wink wink* :P

The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker's graphic style made the game almost unbearable for me. In fact I remember next to nothing about the game even though I beat it because I tried my hardest to block the game from my thoughts. All I do remember is a stupid kid's face with a snot bubble coming from it.

The Twisted Metal series is a system seller series for me. As soon as they announce one for the PS3, I'll purchase a PS3.

I've never played through a whole Silent Hill game. I've just felt the gameplay sucks so much that I can't wade through what seems like a good story.

I've also bought Fatal Frame 2, never touched it and returned it. The game just didn't seem interesting to me

I bought Animal Crossing for my GF and ended up playing it more than her.

I don't see anything special about SSB games.

I've bought Baldur's Gate II and Planescape Torment about 2 years ago and have yet to play through them.

I can't find one last !#$%##$% Agility Orb on Crackdown even though I've probably looked for it for 10 hours.

- Alot of the time when I play GTA, I end up listening to the radio cruising around driving quite safely... not a dead pedestrian in sight.

T-Law

That's all I do 90% of the time when that game is in my PS2

Since Zelda: Wind Waker came up I'll say this....

Prior to the release of Twilight Princess, I though Wind Waker was the best game in the series next to Ocarina of Time and I actually really liked the cell shaded look to the point that I thought it made it the best looking game released in 2003.

Here's one of my deepest darkest secrets about video games that i have >_> .....

I've always thought that the Halo series and Gears of War were, and always will be.. a big pile of overrated pieces of **** :o :P

Revan_14

If that's a dark secret, then it's one I share.

I wouldn't say they are pieces of ****, but I don't think they progressed their genres in a good way....in fact, I think the immense hype behind those games have in a way held their genre's back and have actually resulted in less risk and original approaches in the genre.....that and the whole craze over WWII and Modern Warfare shooters.

- I hate GTA

- I hate The Witcher

- I love Star Wars, I dislike Star Trek

- I'm generally not very into Mario games and I can't say I care for any one of them

- Zelda is overrated

- I dislike turnbased, but I love Fallout

- Halo is just another generic FPS

- I own/have owned almost every version of Resident Evil and haven't completed a single one

- From what I recall, I've never played a real SNES console

- Roughly 12-13 years ago when I played Super Mario Bros. and was going to face Bowser, I was so scared I had to call my mom to defeat him for me

- I often judge games before I play them

- I used to never actually finish games, yet I'd still go out and buy more to play. I now realise how stupid that was. :P

- I completely skipped the N64, Saturn, Playstation era

- I never finished Sonic the Hedgehog without cheats (what? I was 8 :P)

- I took me 3 years to buy Half-Life 1.

-used to call link zelda

-pronounced orcarina wrong for like 6 years

-I beat MGS3 first and now i cant play the first two

-i haven't beaten most games i've bought

-never played on anything before the DC/N64/PS1, other than the arcade of course

-i own like 10 pokemon games

-i own splinter cell:chaos theory for GC and Xbox

-i actually sold my PS2 (and games) to buy an xbox, primarily for halo, then preceded to age and realize that the PS2 had much better games and buy another PS2 to basically play MGS, shadow of the colussus, and god of war

-i only played custom games on WC3 online, and mainly played peasents life (or whatever its called)

-i spent over 120 dollars on a stupid MMO called there

Hmm... I don't know... I often play 'crappy' games more than I play 'good' games, mostly because I often don't have the time to commit to playing 'good' games.
