November & December game recommendations

Please post any games you think we should consider during non-holiday weeks for November and December. Check the game release schedule to see if any of your favorite titles with Mulitplayer mode are also being released around this time.

Additionally, Jusin Calvert would like to play some Forza 3 a bit after the game is released. What date do you find is the best date for game night? Game releases late October. November 3rd or November 10th?

normally i would say that we should play new releases. However, the months of november and december(especially) are pretty dry for new releases. At least for good mutliplayer releases for game nights. I'll be posting my recommendations later.

Here's my recommendations:

 Nov 3- Call of Duty 4? 

Nov 10- Forza 3: {Releases Oct 27} Justin said he wants to play and that's all i've been seeing him play on XBL. I think nov 10 is better because it gives people 2 weeks to get the game.

 Nov 17- GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City (Releases Oct 29} The new DLC for GTA IV comes out. I'm worried that since the DLC comes out so close to the game night a lot of people might not have bought it yet. So may be we can just do the original GTA IV multiplayer if that happens?

Nov 24- Holiday. No game night.

Dec 1-  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 {Releases Nov 10} (PS3/X360) Obviously a must have game night. Obviously people are going to have it on both platforms. Obviously staff is probably going to participate. Obviously going to be the game night everyone has to participate in. And i nov dec 1gives people a nice amount of time to get the game.

 Dec 8-  Left 4 Dead 2 {Releases Nov 17} Left 4 Dead was our first game night of 09. It was a very succesful, fun game night.

I don't have any other recommendatons at the moment. December doesnt have any new good multiplayer releases. So we can do older games that people suggest may be. Also, my recommendations aren't perfect because there are no Wii or PC games on there. I know Jody tries to divide them up.

This is just an idea, and I'm looking to see what others think.

How about go back over some of the older or more popular games we've had previously for Game Night? Maybe even making the emblems that have been used for said games to be obtainable again, if only briefly? If anything, it would attract the emblem fanatics to Game Night, and some of those games are still quite popular. Plus, not everyone has the newest systems (although that number increases to grow, I still have my PS2, among others), so PS2 owners and other people that have older games or systems may bolster the Game Night numbers considerably.

It's just a thought.

For an example... all in the same game night we have the following happening.

Killzone 2 game night on PS3 - Chris hosts matches

Forza 3 on the X360 - Justin hosts matches

QuakeLive on PC - I host matches

Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii -  Lark hosts matches

This is only my dream, but why not have something like this at least once a  year.

Wii: Mario Kart Wii. Last time was awesome!

PS3/360:

-GTA 4. Running people over with a truck never gets old :P.

-Modern Warfare 2. We can host this early December. This way a lot of people will have a copy by then.

I think we need to start having combo game nights. It just can be difficult to round up editorial staff depending on their preview/review workload. So, what I really would like is to have 2 or even 4 console platforms happening at once.

The only problem with that is that it's hard to get a good number of people joining for one game, never mind four. However, if those games were all really popular, and that particular game night was well advertised, it could work.

On Another Note: In you earlier suggestions of having mutliple game nights and multiple hosts on one day. Screwattack.com does their game nights in that format and it works great. However they have game nights only once in a while. But how would I know of screwattack's game nights? ;)

Talked to the editorial staff and we're going to experiment with a different formual on the schedule to see how it works. The focus would be to play the best of multiplayer games on the market. Creating a new thread here after I get the editorial staff names that plan on attending for each game night. JodyR
