First off....WalMart is evil.
Second, places that do not sell "used" games usually have a policy about taking back opened games. There is usually a time period of "x" amount of days where you can return or exchange anything that you buy at any store. All I can say is keep fighting and never give up! I would send an e-mail to everyone...Walmart, the game support center and call the 1-800 numbers too. Don't forget you as the consumer have rights and WalMart will try and treat you like you have none. I've been down this road before and I came out on top....so will you.
i bought WoW today and it didnt have an activation code it in so i took it back to walmart and since they didnt have any more copies they gave me my money backElitemajikYeah its funny how Wal-mart seems to have different policies with every store. Some people say they could return it, others just exchange, and then there's some like me who are screwed and get nothing. Remember back in the day when things were simple?
Bad customer experience storygodofratzThey don't take them back because they figure you copied the game and want to get your money back, not because of copyright rules. They should allow you to exchange it for the same game, though. I hear you about not wanting to give THQ the money, but there's really not much you can do about it.

I usually prefer to buy from Future Shop/Best Buy or EBGames, ever since buying Deus Ex: Limited Edition from Wal-Mart (they meant Limited as in an extended demo!!!).
That said, I've been very impressed with Future Shop... I bought Star Trek: Legacy, hated the game, then exchanged it for Medieval II: Total War. The customer service person said that they usually didn't do exchanges on open software, and gave me no reason why this should be an exception, but did it anyways.
As has been said above, policy seems to differ from store to store, even among the same franchise...
So, in short, keep pestering those blasted Wal-Mart people. They gave you a defective product, and it's your right as a consumer to have the issue resolved. Maybe you'll finally get through to one of them.
