these aren't in any order outside of their categories

Great:
Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening

Good:
Ocarina, Wind Waker, Oracles

Mediocre:
A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, The Minish Cap

Bad:
Zelda, Zelda II

yoshi_64

How is Zelda I bad? And why is ALTTP mediocre?

because i judged this by modern standards

No, you judged them by G standards... which honestly.. I'm surprised any Zelda made it past mediocre.

Now judging by "modern" standards is ludicrous. If that were the case, Zelda TP would be high up. I had a tutorial, it was lengthy, it may have no voice acting (but what Zelda does?) yet it still featured darker grittier graphics like today's modeern games and all that jazz. So you sir fail, and your list of opinions is fail. FACT!

/thread.

No but seriously... your list makes babies cry G.

hey, it's not my fault Twilight Princess is a padded-out rehash and nothing before Link's Awakening aged well :P

A link to the past IS better than OOT when speaking now. But the move to 3d and the concepts OOT introduced to the video game industry cannot be ignored when speaking of it.

That said, Majora's Mask is still the best Zelda.

Just saying, maybe I'm playing it in the wrong era or something but Link to the Past feels like a chore playing it today. Hell, I wouldn't even play it if it weren't a Zelda game.

Another game I hadn't played until recently, Majora's Mask, has aged much MUCH better.

 And OoT>All

I played the first hour or so of Link to the Past back in the SNES era, where one of my friends owned it. I'm going through it now properly and I'm like 2 or 3 dungeons into the dark world dungeons. I agree about the chore part. The dungeons are decent but I find getting around to be kind of annoying. It was just, outside the water temple, most dungeons are the same thing, just different colors. You don't gain like 1 unique item per dungeon so that there are unique puzzles in it or anything.

I'm at the dungeon around where the master sword is, and the dungeon has multiple entrances, another dungeon did that too, kind of. I don't like going in and out of the world map to reach different parts of the dungeon, its just kind of annoying.

MM has certainly aged better, though I was playing it off the Zelda collector's disk and the framerate seems kind of low, I was planning to wait at least a year for a MM 3DS announcement before trying again. 8)

the version on the Collector's Edition is known to have a few technical issues; you might've been better off grabbing it on Virtual Console. though a 3DS remake would definitely make all the mask changing easier.

Issues?

Issues? Like what? I thought it ran better than the original game actually... Maybe I should replay it. I had no issues with it really. The game I think was still emulated off the N64, cause on the N64 it had lots of slow downs. MM pushed the N64 harder than OoT. OoT would give you like 2 or 3 enemies, in MM they put lots of details and touches in the environments and then threw like 2 or 3 different enemy types with about 4-5 enemies at once in the field sometimes. Putting the Goron mask and going by at top speed would make the game feel like it was half the frame rate.

It actually gives a warning when you start up the game that there are sound glitches they could not get rid of due to emulation. There are certain parts of town where the framerate seems incredibly low. It may be because I was playing OOT 3DS not long before, and I believe that is supposed to be 60 FPS. Nintendo would be stupid to not release MM 3DS, and they are pretty stupid, so they might not, but I will give them a chance. 8)

Same place, different job. I am working for an ISP now and it's long hours. That on top of home ownership and a wedding coming up have been keeping me very busy.

I don't think OoT3D was 60 fps, although I thought it was before. I think it ended up being just 30 fps.
