I knew that I needed glasses because I can barely see the board at school. What surprised me about the visit is that...I found out I'm color blind. I know that when I was a little kid I had trouble learning my colors, but I didn't know that it's because I've been color blind.

It's not really that bad. I just can't distinguish between certain colors too well. My optomitrist said that most people use a 3 color system while I use a 2 color system. I did find something interesting on Wiki about it though, check it out: "Color blindness is usually classed as a disability; however, in select situations color blind people may have advantages over people with normal color vision. There is anecdotal evidence that color blind individuals are better at penetrating color camouflage and at least one scientific study confirms this under controlled conditions.[2] Monochromats may have a minor advantage in dark vision, but only in the first five minutes of dark adaptation."

I need to see an eye doctor at some point, far away stuff is starting to be fuzzy at times, as well as really bright nearby things. I guess those warnings in anime about watching it in a well lit room and not being too close probably meant something.

lol. My eye doctor mentioned being at least 24" away from my cpu screen, and not being too close to books when reading (like that happens often  ).

I'm know how that is. I've had astigmatism of my right eye since birth, meaning my vision out of that eye isn't as clear or sharp as it could be. I have a pair of glasses, but I don't wear them as often as I should. :P

I have a certain advantage over most people, I can memorize colors. When my TV's color was wrong the colors of things on the TV and video games appeared the same to me, for example a red Pong paddle to me was green to everyone else. They thought something was wrong with me!

Damn that sucks, but I wish I had that thing since I ain't got no night vision whatsoever thanks to my eye problems. Maybe you should join the army? You could be like the sniper in the woods and you can kill those camo'd dudes in jungles and whatnot!

Glasses are nothing once you get used to them. Hell, even I still use them without any problems. I actually kind of like them. As for the color blindness, I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm sure you can see just fine enough to get by.

They don't bother me at all. Not one bit. Plus, these also serve as sunglasses when you go outside.

I never had a problem with glasses personally, contacts proof more irritating in the end, even though they prove better looks.

I dearly love my glasses. They're a comforting certainty in my life, a little weight on the bridge of my nose. Plus, they're something to play with if math-class ennui gets too bad.

There was a green barett sniper back in nam' who was colorblind. they would fly him over enemy turf in a chopper and he could pick out enemy encampements through the foliage and then they would drop him behind lines for surveilance. Partial colorblindness is considered a minor disability these days, but so many people have it now it's becoming less and less of a problem. Also, if you plan on going into delta force as a sniper...yeah, you know ;)
