What's your definition of "decent"? I doubt my PC can run that until an upgrade.

It uses the Source engine, so you'd need something that could at least run HL2.  Which means at the minimum....

-2.4GHz P4
-Radeon 9600
-512MB of RAM, or maybe even 1GB

Okay, here's my specs

3.0 Ghz P4
Radeon X700 Pro
1 GB of RAM

I can run HL2 at a decent framerate without a hitch.

My computer slows down big time when I open IE for more than like 10mins. I have to pretty much close down everything else to get it to run smoothly for even 30mins. Hell, I can't watch vids smoothly unless the vid player is the only thing going.....

You can't get very much for $100. This is a little more expensive but is actually half decent

Screens from the demo, hot off the Fraps! Make sure you right-click and view 'em, since they're 1280 x 1024.

I just downloaded the Company of Heroes multiplayer beta. I haven't been able to play online but I've tried out the tuturials. So far it's been pretty good. I'm predicting a low AA score here. After the screenshots, the graphics are kind of disapointing, but I'm playing at a very steady framerate. Hopefully with DX10 enabled it will looks much better. My favorite unit is a bulldozer/tank that can plow through walls and tank barriers. It also is equiped with a flamethrower that is designed to kill infantry in buildings . So far it's been a fun experience

Here's my specs:

Pentium D 940 @ 3.2GHz (OC'ed to 3.5GHz) w 2x2MB L2 Cache
Asus P5WD2-E Premium motherboard w/975X chipset
2 GB OCZ Gold DDR2-800 RAM
ATI X1900 XT
2 x 250GB Hitachi SATA-II HDD

I ran the game at max settings (16X Aniso, HDR, 6x FSAA, high everything else) @ 1280 x 1024 resolution.

The demo was about a 1.5 GB download.

1.What's your PC?
2.What settings are you running at?
3. How big is the demo?

Here's my specs:

Pentium D 940 @ 3.2GHz (OC'ed to 3.5GHz) w 2x2MB L2 Cache
Asus P5WD2-E Premium motherboard w/975X chipset
2 GB OCZ Gold DDR2-800 RAM
ATI X1900 XT
2 x 250GB Hitachi SATA-II HDD

I ran the game at max settings (16X Aniso, HDR, 6x FSAA, high everything else) @ 1280 x 1024 resolution.

The demo was about a 1.5 GB download.

That's one helluva PC, especially the video card. I have one just like it. :P

Thanks, that X1900 really kicks ass. I'd like to get a Core 2 CPU at some point, but I'd have to get a new motherboard too.

Speaking of Core 2. I finally got my CPU today, and I finished building. The thing is so fast

What video card did you finally decide upon?

Sapphire Radeon x1900xt, I'm playing every game on ultra max settings. My PC is a beast to say the least. I'm so happy because I used to play every game on low, even Half Life 1! The card gets kinda hot though :(

Nice, I'm jealous of your CPU!

And yeah, those X1900's sound like a friggin' jet engine when they're under full load.

No need to be jealous :P not only is it loud, but the drivers for the thing (x1900xt) are a pain in the ass. I went with Gigabyte for my motherboard. I have to say I am very impressed, I didn't have one problem with it.

Meggido, I've been hearing that it's possible to "flash" x1900xts to x1900xtx, how would you do that?

KR3W-

You could re-flash the BIOS of the XT with an XTX BIOS (since the XT is essentially just an under-clocked XTX). But I wouldn't really recommend doing this, since a) it'll void your warranty b) it won't actually improve your performance any more than overclocking would. If you want, just OC your GPU (heck, you can do it with the Catalyst Overdrive) from 625MHz core to 650MHz and OC your memory to 775MHz and you've got yourself an XTX.

Sounds good, but if it doesn't really boost the performance, then I won't bother. I'd rather not overclock anything. I don't want to damage anything, and I don't want to see a BSOD. But that's just me. I just bought Half Life 2, so now I can play it the way it was supposed to :D

Yes, and FEAR plays wonderfully too. I have everything maxed out. Although it does slowdown with alot of gunfire and enemies
