Ok, so I'm wondering, is my computer any good for gaming. Here are the specs (I got them from XFire)
Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 510MB RAM
Hard Drive: 119 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Monitor: Dell M991
Sound Card: Creative SB Live! Series
Speakers/Headphones:Dell 2 Set with amplifier-thingy
Keyboard: USB Root Hub
Mouse: USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface: How would they even scan this?
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)
Edited for spacing.

Well you could consider that computer mid-range...if you're in the year 2002.  Unfortunately most of your specs are pretty inadequate for just about all of the games that have come out in the past 4 years.  You could probably live with the CPU, but the graphics card would definitely have to go.  You would also need at least another 512 MB of RAM.

I'm even worse than you.

I have:

hp pavilion 732m

Pentium 4 1.80GHZ WinXP Pro
768MB RAM
GeForce FX5200
Whatever soundcard my PC came with.

I'm not into computers, so I don't really care though. I mean I'm still on 56k :D

Ok. I thought it was pretty good since I can play Guild Wars: Factions at max settings with little-to-no lag, but I guess it does need some work. What kind of graphics card would you reccomend (it can't be over $100, because I only make $10 a week)

I'm also in the market for a cheap video card. Here's what I'm looking at. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130262 The problem with this is the low core speed and the 128 bit interface. It is a $70 dollar card though, and it will allow you to play a lot of newer games, although you won't be able to hike up the quality much.

That's something that I'd want. I don't really care about the quality, as long as there isn't any lag. Lag REALLY annoys me.

You don't need to be rich to not have something better than a nvidia FX series card.

Yeah, but I got this computer 3-4 years ago, and I've never upgraded it since, so that's probably why it sucks.

I let XFire scan my computer to tell me mine, so you could try that. www.xfire.com Just make an account, and you can find the way to do it somewhere on your profile page.

I checked that, and my PC could probably pull of something like F.E.A.R at med-low settings. Unfortunately for me, I can't even pull of TESIV at it's minimum. I guess, although it needs some tuning, it isn't such a bad PC after all.

Found it! Alright, here's my "rig": Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz (2 CPUs) 1022MB RAM 160 GB (Hard Drive) RADEON X300 Series (Graphics Card) The other stuff is just my speakers and mouse and stuff, I don't think that matters. So, how bad is it?
