Okay I'm going to go out and say it -- this looks better than the original Avatar. SO EXCITED.
More info from the Comic Con panel. There will be two seasons, the first has 12 episodes and the second has 14 episodes.
I could never get into the original series, I saw maybe 10 random episodes, could not motivate myself to track it down to see all of it.
Having been watching 720p anime for several years, its nice to see american cartoons starting to catch up. I know some are already 720p, but not to this quality. The trailer looked pretty nice to say the least.
I may check this out if I don't need to go back and watch the original. :P
[QUOTE="CJL13"]This animation looks stunning, but whatever happened to Zuko?Sky-
It takes place 70 years after the original, so he's either really old or dead.
yeah i know. Korra's going to meet with Aang and katara's son for Air bending training. he's going to be middle aged.
but they ended the last series with the question about Zuko's mom. was there no answer for that?
She looks like an older Katara. Anyways it looks REALLY good, I can't freaking wait, I might just rewatch the entire series.
Hopefully it's not just all about her though, it would be nice if she at least had another companion.
tagyhag
well she's also from the southern water tribe so some resemblance would be normal.
Can't wait : )

Awesome news. I thought there would be only the first 12, hope they make more.
Oh. Em. Gee.
That looks like everything I would want a future setting in the Avatar world to be. I cannot wait. I think this could easily surpass the original series.

Zuko's voice actor is confirmed to be a part of the series, so it's logical to assume he'll either be voicing Zuko or a character related to him, so there'll likely be a clarification on how he turned out.

I believe she's been confirmed to have a Sokka-like Earthbender guy and a Zuko-like Firebender guy with her.

Indeed, read the link in the OP.

Also, Azula should totally be on the US beach volleyball team. :P

Hell yeah! Our opponents would never rise from the ashes of their shame and humiliation!
Damn I need to finish up the original lol.Wanderer5The finale to the series is one of the best things I have ever watched. Up there with the other Avatar.
Also worth noting, the aformentioned Firebender and Earthbender companions are BROTHERS. No, not adopted, BIOLOGICAL. The Earthbender guy is based off of the original concept for male Toph.789shadow
This is awesome. One of the aspects of the world that the original series didn't really touch on was relationships amongst the different nations. The setting of Korra sounds like a "melting pot" of sorts, which is an awesome awesome awesome idea. I always wondered what a mixed Fire/Earth family (just as an example) would have been like.

Probably not. Sokka's voice actor also returned, but he's playing a new character (one of Korra's companions).

True.
Edit: ... but according to Wikipedia he'll be voicing a character related to Zuko in some way. Who knows? *shrugs*

Awww, part of what made Sokka special was that he didn't have powers. :(
[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]So is Last Airbender just a really well-animated shonen series?Sky-
it's not an anime
Looks like one to me.

That's cause' you're dumb. :P
It is a legit assumption, its rare for a western show to not have poor quality animation.
It is probably drawn by Japanese or Koreans anyways.

Yeah, it's a different artstyIe, but other than that it seems just like Naruto or something as rendered by Americans.
Looks like one to me.
Cherokee_Jack
nope, it's a Nickelodeon cartoon made in USA
it has some inspiration from anime, but it also draws elements from American cartoons, Chinese art, and Asian mythology, culture, and religions (like Hinduism, Buddhism, Daoism, etc.)
oh, and no fillers either

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure. :P
I stand corrected. Well, the fillers are few and far between, and they are usually pretty entertaining, like the Fire Nation school episode (if you count that as a filler).
So how does this one relate to the first one? Does it take place after the events of that one?sonicare
It takes place 70 years after the end of TLA where the Avater after Aang, Korra, who already mastered water, earth, and fire bending heads to United Republic to find Aang's son so she can master air bending.
