From the looks of it, Apple is planning on releasing a traditional game controller that works wirelessly with iPhones, iPods & iPads.

Seems like they've taken notice.

A lot of patents are out there that never get any use. It is to the point where a controller would help a variety of games on the App Store, especially shooters and other precision games. Your iDevice is the console, and it doesn't take any wires to play it on your TV. That's all pretty excellent.

I don't think they would patent that design of a controller, thats a blatant rip off sony's dual shock.

Except the charging wire...;)

And I have said it before iDevices dont support the aspect ratio of TV's so it will look rather pathetic on a modern TV.

Certain games like Real Racing 2 output to 1080p. It's up to the developers whether or not their apps and games output to that level. Ignorance is bliss, but in your case it's annoying.

Certain games Kid-Atari
It becomes irrelevant right there.

Unless the ipad itself shifts to 16:9 resolution you are never going to have good support for this. Why would a developer code the app for a different aspect ratio as well when only a minority will use an ipad with a TV?

The new ipad also cannot charge while gaming so it is useless as a gaming console alternative.

Ipad is the only idevice that can fulfill this purpose but currently its a long way to go.

Not irrelevant. Your assumption was that no iDevice can output to 1080p. Apparently, since a handful of upper-tier games support 1080p, this means the ipad is capable of fitting astonishingly well on a TV. It makes your assumption invalid.

Did apple patch it or what? Because all the reviews are saying ipad 3 doesnt charge while doing anything intensive.

No that wasnt my assumption that it "cant" but merely that it "wont" because devs wont support it a great deal.

"And I have said it before iDevices dont support the aspect ratio of TV's..." Thank God for forum quoting. I'll re-quote for more effect: "...iDevices don't support the aspect ratio of TV's..." This is where you have been corrected.

One or 2 games doesnt meant squat when 99% of games and apps dont support widescreen resolution get real it's the drawback of a tight ecosystem android has no such problem!!! ;)

One or 2 games doesnt meant squat when 99% of games dont run at that resolution.

And btw can you run at OS at widescreen res like the homescreen and everything?

Dodge as you may. You were wrong in asserting that no iDevice supports the aspect ratio of a TV screen. The hardware doesn't just support the option, it does it quite well too. ;)

Do you really think that I thought the hardware doesnt "support" it when the ipad 3's resolution far exceeds 1080p? :?

This is so far off topic its a joke. We went from controllers to iPad's output on a tv. If this is going to continue in every thread, action will be taken to all involved.

A good step in the right direction. But I like my controls built into my portables.
