I need some new games for my iphone 4S and it's been a while since I've visited the app store. I'm looking mostly for turn based strategy though am open to any genre as long as it's well-done. Call of Cathulu looks interesting but I watched a few YT vids and am hesitant. Some games that I just bought that I'm enjoying the hell out of are Zombie GS (easily my favorite so far), Vector, and Blueprint 3D. I'd like to get some more but with a bit more depth to them.
I've tried Perfect Cell after all the raving reviews (I don't see what all the hoopla is about) and also Autumn Dynasty which I LOVED at first until I got further into it and realized that for an RTS there's not enough options to effectively manage units and bases (even for how simplistic it is), and with the size of iphone's screen it's more work than it's worth. Maybe on an ipad it'd be much better. Are there any old school games like the old PC games Crusader: no remorse, Elevator Action, or Star Control?
There's two things that immediately preclude me from even giving any game a second glance though: overly bright, kiddy, cartoonish visual style (99% of all games right there) and virtual joystick/buttons. I won't bother with these with a few exceptions but all others are fine. So what else is there? I guess I'm looking for action, TBS, but am open to any others that are well designed and have a bit of depth. I'm aware of Angry birds, cut the rope and all these top sellers. I'm looking for those obscure gems hidden away that really don't get much recognition but are awesome.
