Talk about games, cuts, trades, and any other news made during the preseason.

Preseason Schedule

--------

It feels like the season is getting here a lot faster than I thought it would, but it still feels so far away. :(

Edit: For ease of reference, here's the nationally televised games, I'm not doing the NFL Network games (all times Eastern):
8/13 - ARI @ PIT - 8 PM - ESPN
8/17 - CAR @ NYG - 8 PM - ESPN
8/20 - PHI @ IND - 8 PM - FOX
8/21 - TEN @ DAL - 8 PM - FOX
8/24 - NYJ @ BAL - 8 PM - FOX
8/27 - MIA @ TB - 8 PM - FOX
8/28 - NE @ WAS - 8 PM - CBS
8/29 - SD @ ATL - 8 PM - CBS
8/30 - CHI @ DEN - 8 PM - NBC
8/31 - MIA @ HOU - 8 PM - ESPN

Dorsey is too fat to practice

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 4, 2009 5:54 PM ET Glenn Dorsey was a favorite of the draft graders.

When the Chiefs choose him fifth overall in 2008, the reviews were unanimous; the Chiefs got a great bargain in the LSU defensive tackle.

Little more than a year later, Dorsey seems far from a sure thing.

As Evan Silva pointed out in today's one-liners, Dorsey has essentially been deemed too fat to practice.  (As opposed to too fat to fish.)

Five days after failing a conditioning test, Dorsey continues to try to get slim while his teammates practice football.

Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star wondered if the Chiefs are trying to prove a point:

"He's spending time on sprints and the stationary bike, but I can't help but think that some of the exercises he's doing aren't more for continued humiliation of the one player who can't seem to get in shape," Babb wrote.

It's not like Dorsey showed his talent as a rookie, but let things slide this offseason.

He did very little last season. Jason Whitlock broke out the B word by midseason, although there were legitimate questions later regarding how Dorsey was utilized.

Those excuses won't hold up if Dorsey fails to impress another coaching staff.  Dorsey barely practiced this offseason because of a shin injury before showing up heavy to camp.

Dorsey is one of the young players the Chiefs should build around, but he risks getting left behind.

Complicating matters is that Dorsey must learn a new scheme.  Expected to be a penetrating tackle in a 4-3 defense, he will now be asked to occupy blockers in a 3-4.

At this rate, Dorsey could wind up being a very round and expensive peg that doesn't fit into any of Kansas City's holes.

UPDATE: Dorsey is out of purgatory.  He was cleared to practice Tuesday.  Next task: ensure that he has a starting job.

The Chiefs signed Amani Toomer to a one year deal. Don't really care to put a link in right now.

Given the fact that he could have a great trainer whenever he wanted without any effort at all thats just pure laziness, I'm glad there not letting his fat @ss practice.

Meh, he wanted out. We got Ellis to take his place. Hopefully this one won't turn out like the last time we traded a player to the Pats (*ahem* RANDY MOSS).

Yeah wonder what kind of impact he would have made for the Lions. But nice to see he avoided that 0-16.

The HoF Induction ceremony was last night.  I saw the second half of Ralph Wilson Jr.'s speech and all the way through the beginning of Bruce Smith's speech.  Great job by all the men honored last night and, I can't believe I'm saying this, big props to Carl Peterson for giving the speech for DT.  Great speech and he made me proud to be a Chiefs fan.

Who knew the first touchdown would be on a fake punt run for 40 yards? Why wouldn't you save that for the regular season?

That's some good news. I heard he'll be sat out all of pre-season, just in case, but this would have been a horrible blow to the Panthers' regular season.

Well from what espn, fox and other were reporting the didnt release the tape becausue it sided more with stallworth claim, which is why the family settle so quick and the punishment was just 24 days and 8 years probation.

the thing that kills me is what if his blood level was .6 instead of .8 would it make a difference on how people look at it?

I'm not saying stallworth is completly right here because a man is dead, but if the other party contibutes the same amount of wrong doing then hard to blame 1 side
