Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry suffered serious injuries after falling out of the back of a pickup truck during a domestic dispute with his fiancee, police said Wednesday.

Adam Schefter's twitter: "Charlotte police say Chris Henry passed on at just after 6:30 a.m. Prayers for his family and for his children."
I always liked Henry as a player. It's too bad.
I posted an article on the home page about this.
RIP Chris Henry. You cleaned up your act this year, and became a much better person. So sorry to see you go.
Prayers go to him and his family. CommanderShiro
Â
As always, prayers showing their effectiveness.
Â
But anyway, these circumstances sounds strangely like the Tiger Woods accident. I bet the japanese will do a video out of this.
New details from a Cinci newspaper. Chris was trying to get his fiancee to stop and talk out whatever they were arguing about. He was overheard saying if she didn't stop he would jump out of the truck and kill himself.
This is really too bad. It's also unfortunate that Henry didn't think of his 3 small children before killing himself.
Turrible. Chad Ocho's interview was especially sad. RIP.haloraider
Same goes for me. It is really sad since he was turning his life around.

I heard he was punching the truck window trying to get her to stop lol. The guy was a thug, sorry but he was clearly not turning around his life that much.

And you know what your talking about? Â All we know from reports is that he jumped into the bed of a moving truck, after an alleged dispute with his girlfriend. Â You do not know if there was domestic violence and who was on what end of the violence. Â We do not know if he did jump out of the truck and killed himself like someone earlier mentioned. Â
If he did jump into a moving truck, and tried to force his girlfriend to stop, he made a poor decision. Â I'll leave it at that, jumping onto a moving vehicle is very dangerous.

I heard the reports you moron.. it's all they talked about on the local news and on espn, I'm from cincy. I meant he didn't know what he was talking about when he said he wasn't turning his life around.... maybe you should have read all of the posts..

You and him were close personal friends? How do you know he was turning his life around? Â For all I know he could have been drunk, high, or beating his girlfriend. Â But like you said you know him personally, you hung out, or something, because I know someone as smart as you wouldn't get all your info from the sh*t you see on TV or read in the news. Unless you believe that they print the whole truth in the news, but since your calling me the moron you obviously are basing your words on you and Chris Henry's close personal relationship. Â Its not like the news has ever gotten the story wrong:roll:
Careful guys, some people like to report posts.
I think it's sad how Chris Henry died, especially given his family situation, but his death was clearly the result of his own bad decisions. Don't take things so personally, skpioneer. I'm sorry if you were a personal fan of his, but the reality is that he had a checkered past, and a violent past. And truth be told, it wasn't a distant past. The fact that he wasn't arrested in over a year isn't enough to convince a lot of people that he was officially "changed". Especially when he died during a domestic dispute, even if he wasn't trying to hurt anyone this time.
actually I have met chris henry... we weren't close friends.. but like i said I live in cincy.. all of his teammates, who were personal friends said he had turned his life around.... so who are you to say he hadn't, did you follow the team at all? I have seen chris out in public with his girlfriend and kids... you can ask anyone in this area and they will agree with me. But if you don't want to belive me, this is a link to an article written by a well-respected columnist in cincinnati:

What you present isn't really "research" or could it be used as a "resource." Â The guy had multiple arrests (given the last one was acquitted), and 5 suspensions in 5 seasons. Â The guy had been quiet for a while, he hadn't did anything stupid in quit some time. Â Just because you saw Chris Henry with his kids in public doesn't make him a good father, in fact the only person who could really answer that question would be his children.
As stated by Garey, Henry had a very checkered past that wasn't too distant, and he just recently died from his own actions.  I would say that it would be more tragic if he died because of someone else's actions.
I was just you have no more validity in saying Henry was turning his life around, than the guy who said that he didn't turn his life around.

all the bengals players, coaches, the owner, sports writers who talk about the bengals have said that he had turned his life around. He was brought back last august because Mike Brown liked the potential that he had. Marvin was against it at first, but thursday after it was announced that henry had passed marvin himself in a press conference talked about how he had turned his life around, stopped hanging out with the wrong kids (really just high schoolers and college kids). Hell, i'll admit that I was against henry coming back last year, but just seeing how he played and how he acted off the field was really cool. Yes he got in trouble with the law more than his fair share of times, and it was all stupid things that he did. Its just people on here saying he hadn't made an attempt to turn his life around. Yeah he was involved in a "domestic dispute", but so was tiger woods, hell, a lot of athletes are. We don't really know what happened there... we have all read the reports but we weren't there. How many of the people that were bashing him actually followed the team? Last year an article that was written about him talked about how he was turning his life around then, last season...
anybody that was bashing him saying he was still a thug is completely wrong... bash me all you want but this is coming from a real bengals fan who actually follows the team...
I can't say I feel sorry for a guy who thinks the best way to resolve some problem with his lady is to jump into the back of a truck in which she is driving. Who I feel sorry for is his kids he left behind. Dumb move, but may he R.I.P.LINKloco
I've waited long enough to comment on this thread. Completely agree.
I have a hard time thinking that someone who still believes jumping on the back of a truck is a good way to solve a dispute has "turned his life around". Was he making progress? Sure, I guess. He had stopped getting arrested. For a year. Actually, how is that a celebrated accomplishment? And we have no idea what kind of things he could have been doing that didn't attract the police. (I have a really crass statement I want to make here, but it would surely get modded).
skpioneer, why should we believe the words of his friends, teammates, etc? People have a way of painting the deceased in a positive light upon their death, unless they were particularly despicable. I am NOT saying that Chris Henry was a bad person. None of us are. We are saying we do not know. Their testimony is unreliable. We do know the criminal record and we do know that he died doing something that could have landed him on Cops.
It is sad that he has passed away. It is, and I feel badly for his children. Am I moved, at all, by his death? No. At most, it serves as a representation that life is too short for crime.

did you watch hard knocks this season, in training camp, fellow players and coaches talked about how he was changing. Were you with him on that day last week? How would you know what happened then. Right now there are only reports. Do you follow this team at all. I'm not saying he was perfect, hell, he was far from perfect. Of course you are not moved by his death, you are not a fan of this team, you did not really notice the turn around this team has made. Seriously, everyone wants to bring up his criminal record from the past. He was looking towards the future as was everyone else....

Â
He must not has changed that much since the guy JUMPED ON A MOVING CAR TO DO WHATEVER CRAP TO HIS WIFE. And unlike you, we're not PC hypocrites. Just because the guy has died doesnt mean he deserves any sort special treatment in how we talk about him.
Â
Bottom line he acted irresponsibly all his life and ended up paying for it with his life. Sorry, but I heard much more tragic death stories in my life.

I never said he was perfect. I even said he was far from it. Yes he had problems earlier in his life. Ever since college, and it got progressively worse. Nobody really knows what happened last wednesday and we may not know for a while. I am not expecting everybody to give him special treatment but he doesn't deserved to be bashed either. He was trying to do good with his life and we don't know what happened in the "domestic dispute". He had problems with the law earlier and paid for that. If you are not giving any condolences for his death did you do the same for steve mcnair? considering he was cheating on his wife and living a second life away from his family? I am not trying to be a hypocrite here, but people who didn't even follow the team just listened to what they had heard on espn when he was arrested. I was able to hear alot more about him from my local news, the good and the bad. It is a shame that he passed away, most likely from something that was irresponsible... but he was trying to make a better life for his family and himself... I would just like others to know that he was no longer a "thug" that people had grown to know him by
