Based on their supposed 2008 rosters (links), you breakdown the game:
How can Team A win, what does Team B need to do, what would actually happen, etc.

Depends on who is starting at QB for Buffalo I think, and I'm not sure they've settled on their guy yet. If Trent Edwards is it, then I'll take the Bills. I think he manages the game better than Losman could. Also, expect Hit & Run to have a big game, because the Broncos won't be able to stop him (assuming Goodell doesn't suspend him).

Hmm, this is a tough one as well. Last year the Broncos had one of the worst rushing defenses in the league and if that's the case this year then they will more then likely lose. I don't think the passing game will be a problem for Denver, because Champ can shut down Evans and then the Bills don't really have any other threats after that. Since we don't know how good the rushing defense on Denver wil be, I'll just assume it's improved from last year because it couldn't get any worse. Should be a close game and whoever has the last possesion wins the game. Brandon Marshall rips the Bills a new one and Selvin Young has a solid game, Denver wins.

Well they end up tying in the end, the broncos kick the bills(bisons) in the head killing them, but the broncos break their legs and end up getting put down.

Yeah, but picking teams by mascot is fun. For me this game is to close to call, the broncos are better, but the Bills could be a sleeper team next year, so I choose tie.

Well, I'm really liking Trent Edwards, but you're right to dismiss him at this point.

He had a passer rating of 70.4 and in 269 attempts only threw 7 TD's(8 INT's) ,I really just dont see any potential in this guy..

He was a rookie, only played a portion of season, and yet displays a better feel for the game than does Losman. Peyton Manning,'the most prepared QB for the NFL game' in a decade, threw more ints than td's in his rookie season with a rtg of 71.2

I'm not comparing Edwards to Manning... just sayin 95% of rookie qbs are overwhelmed in first year, which is why they sat for 2-4 years before free agency and huge bonuses forced em on field as rookies.

Marino is only qb i can think of at the moment (i know i'm forgetting a player or two) that tore it up as a rookie: 20 TDs, 6 INTs, 96.0 rtg .. :edit: add Greg Cook (88.3) -- damnit, whose name am i missing? :x

He got 6 of those 7 TD's in 2 games and in 7 of the 9 games he started his passer rating wasnt over 65 Edwards is way to incosistant (way more then Manning was in his rookie year) for me to ever see him becoming even an average starting QB in the NFL I dont even get why the Bills got Edwards Losman had a pretty good year in 06' (63% completion rating, 19 TD's 14 INT's and an 85 passer rating).

See the problem is that that decentness Losman had in 06, he didn't bring it in 07. Losman=bust. Edwards=future starter(Even if he is average)

Thats because Losman got injured early in the season and Trent Edwards took his spot that doesnt make him a bust dude...

Okay, but are you pro-Losman, anti-Edwards, or of the opinion that they're both simply average?

What is it exactly that you expect from a rookie starting QB? Manning, Elway, Aikman(links season logs) each were not exactly the models of consistency in their rookie seasons either, and they went on to decent careers. Roethlisberger and Marino were the exceptions to the rule, but each walked into unique situations which eased their growing pains.

Regarding Losman, you've left out his fumbles... in 2006, the year you use an an example, he fumbled 13 times, losing 7, so add those to his turnover ratio; and for his career to date (31 starts) he's fumbled 25 times, losing 13. What's up with that?

It doesnt matter at all what Manning Elway and Aikman did in their rookie years that has nothing to do with Edwards and what he will end up doing and based on what I've seen that wont be all that much...

But the thing that Burton is trying to get across to you is that very few rookies come into the league sucessful. You may have seen Edwards now and not been impressed, but he'll develop. Losman has had his chances to develop as a QB and has yet to do so.

^ Sure they do. My specific point was that even the greats of the game & HOF'ers don't walk into NFL and tear it up; almost all of them suffer growing pains. I included links to rookie game-by-game stat logs for Manning, Elway & Aikman as my examples.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree... the QB job in Buffalo is now Edwards' to lose. Losman is out.

In a match-up like this one we have to think back to a year ago to see who really could win, and the winner is, The Buffalo Bills win, with a 2-Pt conversion.

But to be really honest with you this game would IMO, be a bad game, I don't really care for either of these teams, but in the long run The Nills look to havea somewhat better edge this year, and that is why Buffalo wins.

Battle of the Average. Cutler ain't much but he's better than either guy in Buffalo. I'll take Shanahan over Jauron, and Champ over the Bills whole secondary. So, I'll take Denver.
