2006 Power Rankings: Regular Season (Week 3 Sep 20) by thetombradyhater 1. Colts(2) -The Colts easily defeated the Texans in a warm up for a battle for the divison lead (and many power ranking leads across the nation) with the Jags. 2. Jaguars(4) - A vastly underated team prior to this week (except by Wakeforest) proves that is among the NFL's elite with an impressive showing against the Steelers 3. Bengals (3) - The Bengals offensive trio of the Johnson' s and Carson Palmer played very well combining for 575 yards and 5 total touchdowns. 4. Falcons(6) - The Falcons rush game is unstoppable with Vick running crazy, similar to the days of DVD 5. Ravens (11) - Their Defense is devastating and with Steve McNair running the offence the sky is the limit 6. Bears(5) - Another impressive victory, and another great day for the Bears, then again that can be expected when you start the season wth Green Bay and Detroit 7. Seahawks(9) - The addition of Deion Branch should pay off in the upcoming weeks especially with Shaun Alexander struggling (by his standards) 8. Chargers(7) - Rivers and the Chargers are rolling...against weak competition heading into their bye week 9. Giants(10) - An impressive come from behind victory over the Eagles, showed us Eli can become a big time QB who can play well in the 4th quarter(and OT), something he didn't do last year. 10. Vikings(12) - No one is more impressed with the Vikings then me being a Packer fan 11. Steelers(1) - The Jaguar D's beatdown of Big Ben and the offence hurts and after Buffalo's easy victory against the Dolphins the Steelers week 1 victory is 12. Cowboys(13) - TO's hurt but surley he is going to work his tail off to get back on the field. 13. Patriots(15) - Two near losses over two supposedly not so good teams could be a sign for danger when they face more challenging opponents 14. Broncos(18 ) - Jake Plummer ain't so hot but at least they got the W 15. Eagles(8 ) - The Eagles should have beat the Ginats Sunday, but the fact is they didn't 16. Panthers(17) - The Panthers have not been the top team that many people (including myself) percieved them to be before the season, but the return of Steve Smith could get them back winning 17. Bills(25) - The Bills were very impressive on the road against Miami, a team that was suppose to be better this yera and contend for the playoffs 18. Saints(24) - The Saints are 2-0. Wow. Well after 2 easy teams to begin the year the Saints now have a true test with the Falcons. 19. Cardinals(19) - The Cardinals lost to a team they were expected to loose to, its pretty much that simple. 20. Rams(21) - Loosing to the 49ers is a sad feat for most teams, Rams included. 21. Redskins(14) - Its not looking good for the Skins, but maybe when Clinton Portis is healthy Washington can step it up. 22. Chiefs(22) - Despite being without Trent Green they pushed the Broncos to ovetime 23. Jets(23) -A late Jets comeback attempt was squashed, but the team played solid. 24. Dolphins(16) - Nick Saban must be very mad now, Daunte Culpepper hasn't exactly been the type of QB theDolphins expected him to be. 25. 49ers(30) - 49ers in the top 25 in the league! thats a new sight. 26. Buccaneers(20) - It doesn't look good for Chris Simms or Tampa Bay, better get some tips from Daddy. 27. Lions(26) - Roy williams looks like an idiot right about now. 28. Packers(31) - The Packers played very good in the first quarter in part due to Drew Brees' fumbling promblems but then fell off, despite a loss played solid, definately could have and likely should have won the game. 29. Browns(28 ) - The most intresting news about the Browns this week was Kellen Winslow Jr. made comments saying that their 0-2 and they should air the ball out more and basically called out the coaching staff. 30. Texans(27) - Well its not like anyone expected the Texans to beat the Colts 31. Titans(29) -Kerry Collins is to old to be an effective QB and Vince Young is to young, so basically the Titans are in for a long year. 32. Raiders(32) - Art Shell shouldn't have come back- then again he was probably the only peson willing to coach the Raiders *number in ( ) is last weeks power rankings* **Note last weeks power rankings were made by OCdog so some changes might not make sense because my last weeks rankings differ from his, ex) Rams goingup despite loosing**

Welcome back as an officer.

In my opinion I think Indy should be around 7-10. Losing Edge will hurt them in my opinion.

I agree with Espurs, the Colts are a little too high.  I'd put the Panthers at 3, Broncos at 4, and Colts at 5.

I would have had the Dolphins at #10 or #11.  Everything else looks pretty good.

Id move both the Colts and Steelers a few spots down, other than that I think the rankings are OK.

The link you posted to rate the teams yourself goes to the Womens College Basketball rank it yourself... you might want to fix that.

5. Panthers - There's some question about how Keyshawn Johnson and Steve Smith will get along. As much as both guys want the ball, they also want to win and the Panthers should do enough of that in '06 to keep both WRs happy.

ocdog45

I don't think there's gonna be any problem. Keyshawn already made it clear that he knows he's not gonna be getting the ball. Keyshawn doesn't need to prove himself and he knows that it's Steve Smith's team and Smith can do all the catching as long as Keyshawn does all the blocking.

i totally agree.  the chiefs should be higher because of their new and improved defense.  the colts will be more pass oriented and teams will swarm all over marvin now.

how are the dolphins ahead of the bears? the bears have the best D in the league. you need defence if you are going to suceed in football. id put them at number 5 or 4. and i think that the dolphins will do good, but not that good!

You cant put a team top 5 if they dont have a proven QB.

yea i understand, but still. i dont think that they would fall to 13th. who wouldve expected them to do that well at the beginning of last season. and they still managed to take 11 wins, most losses at the beginning of the season. that shows a lot of potential for the team. you cant put the top defensive team at 13th

Come on man, the Bears are just repeating what happened like 5 years ago. They go 13-3 then lose the first game in the playoffs then the next year they suck. It'll happen again.

I've got to hand it to ya, those rankings look pretty good.  The only shady thing is the Steelers with this Roethlisberger surgery, but I thought I heard that he expects to play by week 2 or 3.

Cowboys would be #1 if it was up to me, but there just not better than the teams ahead of the boys. and skins look bad, with a no so good offense and a top 5 RB out for a while its not looking good for hte skins early in the season. T.J. Duckett just isn't CP. And you guys might be right about hte cardinals but there looking good, so we'll see.

Again, it's preseason. Only players are evaluated during pre-season. Not teams.

i agree with the top two teams. plus i agree with rivers being fine. he wasnt immediately given the starting role (smith was) and mostly qbs like that are fine. plus, detroit MIGHT get better because of mike martz running the offence, but they're fine where they are. i say that its good now except the cards may be a bit too high. i say they will have a 7-9 record. improvement, but still.

Well that definitly needs updating, the scary thing is I think the TOP 3 may all be in the same division

1 Steelers
2 Bengals
3 Ravens

I guess the raves at 3 maybe a bit premature, but their definitly top 8 judging from week 1

Man o man did the Giants get screwed on that passing interference call, if the Colts look like that for most of the year they are already out of Superbowl contention, they can't run and if they can't run they can't get to the Superbowl.

-Well the Steelers won, so I'm fine with them staying on top for now.
-The Panthers and Broncos obviously have to move down, I'd probably put them at about the 10 range.
-The Patriots should move move down too, even though they lost.  A close game like that against Buffalo is no way to sell yourself as a great team.
- Bucs have to drop alot.  They looked pathetic
- Vikings, Jets, and Saints go up.
- Raiders down.  Even against the Chargers, you have to do something.
- Switch Jags and Cowboys. :(
