and is the last and only qb today to still call his own plays

kalabo10688

OMG you Brady haters are ridiculous, Brady calls his own plays just as much as Manning, and please try to prove me wrong.

I guess 3 super Bowls, two SB MVP's and regular season MVP with the best regular season QB performance, a perfect season is all not enough for you, i guess Brady uses magic instead of possessing pure skill!

you are incredibly mislead and have no facts to prove any of your points!

QB's are ultimately measured by Championships... Brady 3, Manning 1.

JackBurton

Wait what? This is really unfair for players like Dan Marino.

Let me teach a basic principle of football, defense win championships. Dan Marino never had a great defense so he never won a SB. There's 11 players players on offense, defense and special teams. If the rest of your team fails you, you'll never win a SB. Best example, Tom Brady at his first SB. Back then, he was nothing special, during the SB its his defense that carried the whole team(the best offense in the league holded to only 14 points+ 1 defensive touchdown!). All Tom Brady had to do was to score 10 ****ing points! He did nothing special during that SB, the defense and Vinatieri won the game, not him.

finally sumone who see the light brady had good defense in his first 3 and a balance offense

now he has weapon and a pretty good defense cuz they have 43 or sumthing sack on da year

and vinateri won 2 of those superbowl for him

I said that he had a great defense to help him a few pages back, that defently helped him win his rings but he's still a great quarterback but I don't think he's an overall better passer than Peyton though and the season by season stats show it

[QUOTE="kalabo10688"] Joe namath one with a couple of bums JackBurton

Bums? You're being sarcastic, right?

Namath threw for 4007 yards that season, which would be the equiv' of a 5500-6K season now.

His "bum" WRs:
Don Maynard (Hall of Fame) 71 catches, 1434 yards, 20.2 avg, 10 TD's

George Sauer, 75 catches, 1189 yards, 15.9 avg, 6 TDs

This in an era where the "great QBs" averaged 50-53 completetion % rate bc DBs could get away with anything short of an anal probe while WR's were in the pattern

Only 3 QB's had 3000+ yds... NFL: John Brodie 3020, AFL: John Hadl 3472 , Daryl Lamonica 3245

warren moon threw for 49k+ yards in only 12 yrs of legimate play and never made it to the SB kalabo10688

not to disrespect W.M., but he played in a gimmick offense, the run-and-shoot.

Said offense is reason he didn't get to a SB. After taking a 35-3 halftime lead over Bills, they could not sustain drives and run time off clock to prevent Buffalo from taking the field. Their offense wasn't built for it, and they fell victim to biggest comeback in history bc of it.

No one in pros runs the run-and-shoot and this is main reason why it died a quick death.

terry bradshaw won 4 superbowl yet only threw for 20k in his career kalabo10688

it took T.B. eight years b4 he had a 300 yard game-- SB XIII
(which just so happened to be in the same year the Mel Blount rule was instituted)

Teams are great not qb..kalabo10688

Elway carried the Broncos on his back to 3 SB's. On his back! Those weren't great teams, go look at their rosters... it was primarily Elway. The main reason he's in the argument of being considered best ever.

Brady has 1 marvlous season and all of sudden he the greates qb ever....get outta herekalabo10688

Please. I hope this is again a bit of sarcasm.

Look at what Peyton has had at his disposal on offense vs Brady, and tell me who performed the best with the least.

If Manning was truly all that, he'd have beaten Brady's Pats at least once more in AFC Championship games, instead of choking down on one of his came-changing INTs in those games. If part of that isn't on Manning, (i thought he was best prepared, studies hardest, call his plays yada yada) then Belichick truly is better than anyone will aknowledge bc of their petty hatred and/or jeaousy.

Brady has proved again and again and again that he's the "clutch QB" of this generation

SIDE NOTE: Troy Aikman doesn't have typical Hall of Fame numbers, BUT he has 3 SB Rings.

QB's are ultimately measured by Championships... Brady 3, Manning 1.

I was about to say some of the same things about that post. It was just flat out ignorant... Along with a few other posts in this thread. I can't believe a few people deny Brady of his greatness. It's just purely disrespectful and claassless.

Hmm, I'm just going to go with the mindset that they are fairly equal. I'm not saying that as a fact. It's my opinion.

Another thing last year when the Colts won the Superbowl, in the Playoffs, they faced Baltimore and did not score a TD the entire game, so Tom Brady has that over a Peyton Manning, because I can never recall Tom Brady in the Playoffs not having his offense scoring a TD

Just another example of how weak the NFL was, when the Colts won the Superbowl, anytime you can beat a team without scoring a TD in the playoffs it does not say much about the competition in the league

It is funny how this guy, Tee Martin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tee_Martin led Tennessee to a National Championship the year after Peyton Manning left to go to the NFL and yet Peyton never could do that with his team, another example of how he sucks in big games

All Tom Brady had to do was to score 10 ****ing points! He did nothing special during that SB, the defense and Vinatieri won the game, not him.

Before I give the obligatory stats lines, let me first say that outside of PA or FL, I am among Marino's biggest fans to this day and always will be...

One of the coldest afternoons I've spent in my life was as a young pup at the 1983 Cotton Bowl. Unlike 11,000 txn's who were fearful of harsh elements, I (we) aleady had tickets and I wasn't staying home. Didn't care, I had to go... I was there to see Marino.

When the Great QB argument comes along, as much as I'd like to, I cannot include Marino bc he never won a Title. Example, remember NFL Films footage of how Steve Young and John ELway were lovingly clutching the Lombardi Trophy in postgame, wanting to hold it for as long as possible? They knew it vaidated their greatness, forever.

All I can do is say Marino is Best Pure Passer I've ever seen, not Best QB. No hardware to back the argument. I'll always be trumped by the QB in the debate with the rings. No matter the stats or records. Painful, but true.

1983 Dolphins (12-4) #7 points scored, #1 points allowed. Leading rushers: Andra Franklin, 746 yds ; Tony Nathan 685 yds. Playoffs: Loss to Kreig's Seahawks

1984: (14-2) #1 pts scored, #7 pts allowed. Leading rushers: Bennett 606 yds ; Nathan 558 yds. Playoffs: Won vs Kreig's Seashawks ; Won vs Malone's Steelers, Lost SB 38-16 to Montana's 49ers.

1990 (12-4) #14 pts scored, #4 pts allowed. Leading rusher: Sammie Smith 831 yds. Playoffs: Win vs DeBerg's Chiefs, Loss vs Kelly's Bills

1992 (11-5) #8 pts scored, #11 pts allowed. Leading rusher: Mark Higgs 915 yds. Playoffs won vs Humphries' Chargers, Lost AFC Championship to Bills.

So, he had a top 10 Defense 3 times, one of them #1, a top 11 Defense once--- but Shula for all his coaching glory, never completed the puzzle by finding/obtaining a top-tier RB to assist the offense. I will forever lay blame for this atrocity at Don's feet, not Dan's. Look at Elway: no SB victories until Davis. Like Marino, he had less to work with than say Jim Kelly, but John willed his team to 3 SB's.

Marino sadly(for me at least), only got one shot.

Dan Marino was great! I agree that it was a shame that he only ever got one shot at the SB... and lost. :(
