Here

Yep. Wii Music got an A- on 1up.com.

"Displaying surprising depth and flexibility, the game's biggest downfall oddly, is the music itself."

"Wii Music may have a hard time winning over the skeptics who just want to laugh at it, but give the game the chance it deserves. You just might realize it's pretty damn fun being in on the joke."

nintendo doesnt make shovelware the fact nintendo was making this game should have let everyone none it has a strong chance to be good just because it was a disapointing E3 announcement doesnt mean its going to be a bad game. People were pretty excited about it after E3 07.

It's no surprise that 1UP would come out with a favourable review based on their positive previews (which they seem to be rather alone on.)

But keep in mind that this is the site that Worms: A Space Oddity an 85%, We Ski a 95% (same as Galaxy), Trauma Center: New Blood a 50%, Scarface a 40%, Madden NFL 08 a 45%. :P

Here is a list of 1ups top rated games:

http://www.1up.com/do/reviews?ct=REVIEW&p=Wii&sortOn=2&sortOrder=desc

They have a tendancy to be very generous. I't will take more reviews before a verdict can be reached.

Ever since I tried Wii Music at PAX, I was pretty much convinced from that point on that there was more to it than its critics give it credit for.

Impressive. I've remained completely neutral on Wii Music so far and will stay that way until it's out and I've tried it myself.

To anyone who says that 1up's reviews can't be trusted, please realize that 1up reviews games differently that most sites. The most noticable difference is that the overall amount of fun had is what is most important, not technical aspects. If they truely enjoyed their experience, it will show in their review.

I was also suspicious, she didn't look like the gamer type. But I checked her profile and she likes hardcore games. So its all good.

Huh. After all these previews, I've been rather negative with Wii Music, but 1up doesn't give A-s lightly. Maybe its more interesting then I gave it credit for.

I knew that it had potential, but after reading IGN's preview, I died a little inside. At least some reviewers liked it. I'll buy it once it's a little cheaper. I'll just wait to find it used I guess.

Very true. Can't wait to see how everyone reacts to IGN's inevitable bad review. ;)

As for Gamespot's review, I'm not sure what to expect. Their latest preview was fairly positive, citing the game's "surprising depth" as a reason for their change of heart since the E3 demo. But Gamespot's previews are mostly objective, so it's not always easy to tell if they actually liked it.

funsohng

We Ski has an average critic rating of 69%. 1UP gave it an A (95%) - the same score they gave to Super Mario Galaxy.

But their extreme overratings are "balanced out" on average by their extreme underratings. But it's fairly safe to say that Wii Music isn't among their underratings... 1UP will probably be among the game's few highest raters. I think the scores will be pretty much downhill from here, except for a few foreign and official magazines, perhaps.

GameSpot is definitely the most interesting reviewer. You just never know what they're going to do next... Do you know who's assigned to review it? I'm thinking of going back through the podcasts to see if they mentioned that.

No idea. The previews have all been covered by different people, and I haven't been able to watch On the Spot for a few months to see who's given any demos (if they even have).

On the Spot has mostly been LittleBigPlanet, Halo Wars, and C&C exclusively. :P

I'm going to listen to the recent HotSpot podcasts again and see who's talking about it. I know I've heard someone talking about it. I think.

i don't\ think you should trust ign on this one. They are so overly negative on this game. Watch some previews on youtube.. i can't find the link, but they seem fairly un-biased.

I'm gonna get this... i think. I dunno!

The woman who reviewed it is also a classically trained pianist.

So she knows what she's talking about.

did you see the preview? Matt couldn't play La Bamba...he says the game is for 8 year old and below, but he couldn't perfect La Bamba (much less do it decently). i'm not surprised he called the game borderline shovelware, his rhythm/timing is just way off (as such, he couldn't enjoy the game)

I don't get why people have been bashing this game. Because it doesn't take skill? As long as its fun, who cares? Because it's not hardcore? What is hardcore anyway? I think that videogame reviewers are idiots and I'll try this game out for myself. Maybe it is terrible. But i'm going to decide that for myself. Clearly, this game isn't for anyone. If games have to have intense bloody violence for you to enjoy them, than this isn't your game.
