I don't get why people have been bashing this game. Because it doesn't take skill? As long as its fun, who cares? Because it's not hardcore? What is hardcore anyway? I think that videogame reviewers are idiots and I'll try this game out for myself. Maybe it is terrible. But i'm going to decide that for myself. Clearly, this game isn't for anyone. If games have to have intense bloody violence for you to enjoy them, than this isn't your game.blankshore

 Whether you choose to believe it or not, this game can actually be unappealing to people who enjoy non-bloody, non-violent games. Just because a person doesn't like this doesn't mean they don't like it because it isn't Gears of War. I mean, I thought that was fairly obvious considering we all bought a Wii.

Some people think that, "because it doesn't take skill" as you said, it won't be fun.

[QUOTE="bob_newman"]To anyone who says that 1up's reviews can't be trusted, please realize that 1up reviews games differently that most sites. The most noticable difference is that the overall amount of fun had is what is most important, not technical aspects. If they truely enjoyed their experience, it will show in their review.Quofan

Actually sounds better than the crap system we have here.

About GameSpot's Reviews and Ratings:"The Bottom Line: We believe games are meant to be enjoyed, and our reviews seek to express what it is about a given game that is or isn't particularly enjoyable, entertaining, fun, amusing, interesting, memorable--any and all of these things, and more."

I didnt mean their official guidlines I meant the eventual crap end result. Guidlines are just that - guidelines. Clearly, they havent stuck to them very rigidly. I miss Greg Kasavin and Alex Navarro.

You must be judging this relative to only your own perceptions of how a game should be rated. I did a statistical analysis on how far away their Wii reviews were from the average when they underrate and overrate games and they are actually quite close - especially impressive when you consider that they only rate by 0.5 increments now. They tend to underrate games on the whole, but not by that much overall, and when they do give a game a higher score than others, it's extremely close to the average.

I also find that GameSpot gives enough description of a game such that you'll know if you won't agree with their score (i.e. you'll know if you won't like a game they gave a high score or, more likely, enjoy a game they gave a low one.) Granted, their WiiWare reviews are a bit in WTH territory, but looking at all their Wii scores, their closeness to the average indicates that their individual reviews are quite likely to reflect the overall general perception.

Wii Music > Dead Space?

Something is fishy here...

If you check The 1UP Show episode 144, you'll see that this review score is not representative of what the rest of the 1UP staff thinks of Wii Music. Pretty much everyone else in that episode didn't like it.

Also, if you check episode 150 I think, you'll see that some of the guys didn't really think Dead Space was anything special.

Yeah you're right, Gamespot needs to change the way they review games. It should be about how much fun they have, like with 1up. I'm sure they'd give Wii Music like an 8.5 at least if it was like that. I remember you saying that you played an advanced copy and really loved it. I think you gave it like a 9.0 or even a 9.5, right?

Seriously, newman. Stop it. This is bordering on harassment.

Click, what are you talking about? We used to be on the same side, now you're all of a sudden just going against me for no reason.

There's nothing wrong with liking Wii Music, or buying an advanced copy off of eBay for $500. Different strokes for different folks, you know?
