I just wanted to take a brief survey to see if you guys like 2-D or 3-D Mario games better. For me, I'd have to say 2-D Mario. I like Super Mario Bros. 3/World slightly better than Mario 64.

How about you guys?

I like 2D mario a lot better than 3D (though galaxy is amazing), but hey I'm an old veteran.

Paper Mario = 2.5D? Anyway, I like both. Both styles have very highquality games so it's hard to judge.

I like the 3d-Mario games WAY more than the 2-d games. I hate 2-d games.

Yeah...Paper Mario is actually my favorite Mario game of all time, but I'd have to consider it more 3-D because you actually move in 3-D when you don't battle. But now when I think about Super Mario 64's greatness, it makes me unsure of which genre I like better.

3-D, theyre bigger places so they are longer, and more creative without getting repetitive.

3D, hands down. In 3D, I can actually explore the depth of the world. It's just a lot larger world, and the game play is usually a heck of a lot more fun. 2D is alright, but I think a lot of people just say they prefer 2D over 3D is so people will consider them a veteran gamer or something stupid like that.

2-d is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. I don't care to much for 3-d mario games. That's why I didn't like Galaxy as much as everyone else....

I definitely have to go with 2d. I still play Super Mario World more than most of my games that I have bought recently. You have to love the feeling of exploration that the early Mario games evoked.

This topic isn't about the intelligence of the people posting in it, it's about 2D or 3D preferences. If this topic doesn't settle down I'll have to lock it for good. Place Nice.

I'm sorry, man. I didn't mean to force my opinion on to people, but I could see how it came out that way.

I'll just drop the subject now.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but as to my own I find that the 2d games are my preference. Super Mario 64 is an amazing game, unfortunately, Galaxy, and to a lesser extent, Sunshine, rehashed key elements of that game and strayed from the original appeal of the subject matter. I love all of the Mario games but I find that the 2d games seem to be the most innovative and really created the concept of the platformer that we see today.

I think that's about how I feel about it, 2D was amazing in it's time and I still think there is a great market for 2D games (see: every 2D PSP title) but I think for modern gaming 3D is really the only way to sell a full priced title.
