I read somewhere that the beams of MP3:Corruption isn't going to be the usual (4 beams that you can switch between when you like). It's going to be more like Super Metroid. You will be able to combine different "beams" or different "infinite ammos" with the Power beam, or something like that.

Ever since MP3:C was first announced, I thought about the beams. Ok, the first game had Power, Wave, Ice and Plasma beam. The second game had Power, Dark, Light and an "Annihilator" beam. What's left for MP3?, I thought. If what I read is true, then I guess my beam problem is solved. It would be very cool if you could combine beams like you could in Super Metroid, in my opinion.

So, the question is: Can anyone confirm that this is true? Have Retro-Studios said this themselves, or is it a rumour?

Wow.. this is probably the nerdiest thread I have ever made..

I heard somewhere that both Nintendo and Retro Studios confirmed it but I can't remember exactly where I heard it from.

99.9% this was said in an issue of Nintendo Power.  It could've also been said on IGN though in an interview.

If the beams are all combined, doesn't that make multiplayer seem kinda...unlikely?  They'd have to alter those rules for multiplayer, or it'd be downright broken.

I have to say that I never used the dark and light beams in MP2. PLus the Light beam pretty much looked like the plasma beam.

I hope they have some different feature, stacking the weapons as you collect them wouldb pretty mad, cos I remember in Metroid Fusion going from this weak little shot to a huge blast that covered the screen.

Itd be cool if like you go t a better beam like a plasma beam, and it shot the power beam+the plasma beam or soemthingÂ
