i was thinking about what that loco roco creator was saying about the eyetoy being a better choise over the wii remote, because it wasn't bound to a physical device, which made it more flexible, or i think, he said something like that...
but really... sometimes u want a physical device, with buttons on it...
i mean, i guess the eyetoy could pretend that u where pushing a button simply by registering the users movement with his/her fingers... but then ud need to hold something between ure hand to ease the orientation, and ud need to have placed something on this piece of wood, or whatever it would be, to make u feel where the buttons where, and somehow that just misses the point really...
and as for this music area for wii music, well, that would be very uncomfortable without a physical device, i mean, since it's already such a difficult action to get a grip of... i mean, in all honesty it might just be too difficult as it is...
and what's the point of having a program that let's u make music using a 3d interface? can u even translate music production into 3d? i mean in one very basic way u could, like say, having the tone change if u went from the left of the screen to the right, and then have depth (echo, delay) if u moved the remote further away from u or closer to u. but then the whole experience would be pretty gimmicky... and another thing that would also be gimmicky would be to add tonal parts the further away u put the remote... but on the other hand, simply as a tool to remix / edit an already recorded melody it would of course be very intuitive, and make the process a breeze, which it already is with computers these days...
but back to the question: what's the point with a 3d interface for production of the core melody? sure, one could argue that the core melody relies on harmony or/and a bass line as well, but we're not going to be able to add on a bass line while simultaneously recording the core melody.. that ain't happening, not two melodies at the same time, lol, but maybe harmony... yes, a very rudimentary harmony could be arranged at the same time as u recorded the core melody, but it would be too simple to really bother mentioning, so again, how can u make recording a core melody more intuitive using a 3d interface?
i don't know, but it would make everything different. and u could probably just create ure own "3d space" to create melodies with, and sort of like "place" different tones at different locations on the screen, maybe as a pattern, so that the "3d space" maybe would look like a cake with different tone pieces in it... but again, all of this could be done using a 2d interface as well, so what's the point with things like depth? well, going one octave higher up would simply be done by lifting the remote higher up while being in the same "cake piece" all the while, so i guess u could make some things "feel" a bit more natural maybe...
but i don't knowÂ
