I don't understand why the newer games now always try to add in the touch screen function into their games. I mean, some games are not suited for touch screen! Look at the new harvest moon title, touch screen controls and no D-pad movement, the controls are horrible! There are some games that are good for touch screen, say Metroid Prime Hunters, but some games don't need the touch screen functions, and adding that function will only make the game irritating to play or even difficult to play. Touch screen functions should be kept to a minimal if its not needed.

NDS = Nintendo Dual Screen.

DUAL SCREEN, not TOUCH SCREEN.

sorry for ranting. lol. just posting my thoughts about the new harvest moon controls.

I agree with you :P. Just because it has a TS, doesn't mean you have to use it.
I mean, I love stylus focused games as much as anyone, just imagine playing Nintendogs without the Stylus? Or Trauma center?

But games like Harvest Moon, do NOT need it, they should have use a "dual support" for button and stylus imput.

What are the touch screen controls like? If they're like Animal Crossing's then i'd have no complaints myself. I personally encourage touch screen implementation as it offers something different from just playing a normal handheld. The dual screen thing just isn't as big a factor these days.

IF it was like AC, i'd have no complains too. Thing is, its nothing like it, because of the game play precision! Harvest Moon requires you to dig holes in a specific manner, and cut grass and chop trees, one wrong touch, and you end up keeping what you pick instead of throwing it away.

And the Dual Screen thing is still a big factor for me, and many others I believe. 1 screen map, and 1 screen gameplay. Its a very good implementation, and not only that, only the NDS can handle that. You don't have to press start to look at the map. Its all in the screen above or below. Think Final Fantasy IV.

Some DS titles allow you to switch the control scheme from the touch screen to the six buttons the DS has.

there are some games i have where its just forced into the game. like when i played castlevania: por the first time i had no idea the game could use the stylus till i saw i nthe instructions you could move the second character with it. its an ok feature, but its never needed at all. but then theres games like zelda where it just wouldnt respond all the time and made the game a little more difficult than it should have been. id try to attack and he would roll instead or somethin else would happen

actually, GS reviewers really put the Touch screen controls on the pedestal lol. In fact, if they do it wrong with the touch screen controls, the whole game becomes crap. Games like cooking mama, was a genius idea to have touch screen.
