I've recently been playing tons of strategy games online and I was thinking of getting AW on Thursday (when I get my DS:D) I went to check out some videos and I found myself realizing that I had NO idea what the hell was going on. So my question is, is the game easy to learn?

The game becomes progressively more complicated, but at each stage you are introduced to a few more elements, so you can assimilate the details at a reasonable pace. Though the gameplay can become challenging, the learning curve is anything but steep.

If you already play other strategy games you'll have no issues. I understand everything just fine...I just suck, really hard.

The game is not complicated although at first I did find it complicating (I don't really play strategy games) but after the first two campaign missions I was fine. Oh and as the campaign goes you'll keep on learning new things as it gives you more advanced strategies and new tricks.

Well, I've just been playing some free ones online like Ages of Castles, Sea of Fire, Battlegrounds, etc. Oh yeah, is Age of Empires on DS good?

A lot of people recommend AoE, but I didn't find it interesting, it was really hard, and the graphics gave me a headache. But some people love it.

Yeah, AoE was pretty good. I suggest that and Advance Wars. If you have to get just one, get Advance Wars.

I got both copies, but I haven't touched AoE yet, I'm having too much fun with AWDS, having to unlock everything. Don't worry about the complicated battle system of AWDS, playing Campaign Mode (the story mode) is a progressive tutorial feeding you by the spoonful new ideas about the game without drowning you with information. You may find it somewhat challenging at the beginning , but the concept itself is very easy to pick up, and once you've absorbed all there is to know about AWDS, the game becomes easy (to understand), but challenging on the harder maps (to play) to test your thinking prowess.
