I've never played an advanced wars in my life, but was thinking of jumping on board with this one... how good is it, and is it understandable if your not familiar with the franchise? I mean I'm a smart kid and could probably figure it out... but I really don't wanna sit there for hours trying to figure out how to work the game...
Its a pretty good game. I played it hard for about a week then I got burned out on it and I play a little less frequently but its still a great way to kill a long road trip or kill a lot of time.
I got it at launch and I'm still playing it. I beat the campaign and am still playing online with friends and there are tons of extra maps and I'm still trying to beat them all and even replaying them for the s rankings. Great game.
It's not very hard to learn the strategies and the way the units work in this game. Half of the campaign is basically a tutorial as it shows you how to do different things with units in the first 10 missions or so...

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is an excellent game, easy to learn, but hard to master (just play online and you'll see what I mean lol)... I'm right now on mission 20...
This game is alot like all the others just 2 big diffrences, new CO's and new units. For a person who's been playing as long as I have it is easy. I beat it in the first month and only had trouble with 3 levels, 10; 13; and 20. Besides that the game is easy but still challenging and fun just like the other ones.
