all this mumbo jumbo about a new DS

we need to think things through here

lets say all we're hearing lately is real, camera, mp3, better wifi, etc.

questions? if it has 1 or 2 screens that are larger will they be touch-sensititive? i'd say 75% yes.

if its $190 or less will there be any leap in hardware? will graphics get better? i'd say 30% chance yes

if its around $200 then it could be around PSP caliber hardware (333mhz CPU, 32mb RAM)

i was hoping for nintendos next handheld to have GameCube hardware (485mhz CPU) since it would be better than PSP's.

but i don't think Nintendo would put out a handheld that is half as powerful as their current consoles (the Wii)

then again Sony released the PSP in 2004, so for the last 4 years the PSP has been a stronger machine than the PS2.

SD card slot? I hope so. not only for storage (say we can download GB, GBC, GBA games like VC) but maybe for the games

coz if this handheld isn't a redesign and is a new device, if it plays entirely new games it would be cost-effective to only have one media slot. so put the games on SD CARDS! have them be written to only once, so as to stop stealing and have the games be bricked or something when someone tries to copy it to their computer. this way the games themselves could take up 512mb SD cards to 4GB SD cards.

i mean, a 2GB SD card is like $10-$15 now. i'd accept all new Nintendo handheld games at that. it would keep down on load times

and it would help keep battery life up

so what do you guys think (if this is true) will change? will it play old DS games? will it be called Game Boy or something else? GameCube, PSP, or Dreamcast graphics or the same as current DS?

The SD card thing could be pretty cool, maybe eventually Nintendo will put Game Boy or Game Boy Advance games on the Virtual Console for us to download onto SD cards and play on the new DS.

With all these rumored features so far, it seems like this next handheld is more than just a redesign.

The DS Lite is my final handheld game system I've decided, for the time being anyway. It's a little sad that I've gotten almost every game I will own, but at the same time it is also a good thing because now I won't have to worry about buying anymore games, and I can finally sit down and enjoy them, since I still really haven't dug into most of them enough.

Nintendo has the market saturated. maybe a new handheld to run along side a cheaper DS lite will be the way to go

I want from this to be a new handheld altogether, better touch screens, GameCube-esque graphics, bigger online communities (i mean up to 16 people online)

pictochat to be online, the camera to be good, drop the GBA slot for an SD slot so we can download classic handheld games plus let the games be ON 512mb to 4gb SD cards.

leave the games at $29.99-$34.99 new (except for damn SQUENIX games!)

that iphone tilt thing could be cool

and i know ppl might hate me for this but One analog stick plz

better than the PSP one. so we can move in MPH with the stick, but move the pointer and perspective with the stylus on the touch screen, easy enough?

oh yea and i wouldn't mind paying like $10 a year to get Wi-Fi on it anywhere, through perhaps a cell fone provider. like AT&T.

I bought the DS for games, not for music, or videos, or photos ( thats what I have my Ipod/psp for).

I don't honestly care for all these add ons to an already perfect handheld. Whats Ninty's rush? The psp is supposed to last 10 years (...what Sony said, probably not what they meant)

I completely agree with TalesOfRaGnArOk ,I have many other thing to listen to music or to see videos! We have iPods,PCs,PSPs,iPhones..Sony and Nintendo are trying to turn a Handheld into a Multifunction System! We use the DS for games,not for listen to music and watch movies! Things are made for a purpose! It's the same if you try to play Megaman X5 in the PC,it's not as good as in the PSX! Same thing if you try to listen to music in a DS! :s

PSP WAS already a multifunction system, DS is just taking the idea and using it.

This seems like too much speculation...you'd think Nintendo would have said something about a new systerm or redisign...we all heard about the revolution back in the GC days...but who can say all we have to do is wait and see....though I'll be slightly irked when they start to phase out the old lites...like they did with the originals.lol but thats just me.
