Sorry, you're confused.
If you've bothered to read any previews at all, you'd see there are many improvements over the previous versions.
Try doing a bit of research before you decide to post your next topic.

why are fans getting all raged at the TC for pointing out something like this? Seriously, it's like someone can't criticize one nitendo game without fans jumping on them :|
either way, i agree with TC. City folk looks like a rehash. It's like all nintendo did was add wild world with the GC AC and came up with the wii version.
First off, the game was ORIGINALY for the n64. the graphics we're understandable for it's time. but now, it's just plain laziness.
I also agree with VGgobb. Those things aren't exactly what seperate it from it being different. New furniture, events we're expected. But they aren't drastic changes to set them apart.
Backup your claims alexsays. what seperates city folk from the previous two?
Â
I agree with TC. I don't think it is necessarily the same game, but I think Nintendo could of did a better job with adding some new content.
It looks and feels like the GC version. I mean, there is no reason the graphics should still look like that. If I can think of some cool new ideas for the franchise, why can't Nintendo. It seems like one of those stupid Sims stuff packs.

No I have seen the game and read the previews. There is now a market place where you can get your hair done, miis, online with wii speak and im sure new events. None of these minor additions are enough to justify this game. The market place is just an expansion to the neighborhood. Wii speak is the best improvement but inst that good because if you dont know anyone to play with its useless. Miis arent important seeing as though every wii game just about has them. So you are still doing the same thing. Running erands, chopping trees, eating fruit and getting money. There isnt one new feature that just is truely amazing. Even the graphics are the same. If you cant see this then you're blind. Im sure its a good game because it is animal crossing but it is the samewiidog:lol: Since when did the last Animal Crossing for the GC have online play?
The only thing that really bothers me about the game is that the one thing that's really getting attention (online play) seems to be useless and uninteresting. What exactly can you do in your town with your friends? I saw the marathon and all they were doing was running around town, and once in a while they would catch a fish or a butterfly. Is that all really so exiting? If you could actually play some other minigames together, something implemented by Nintendo, maybe it would be interesting. It just seems boring, I'm sorry...
I'm not hating on AC, I'm just sad that the developer hasn't tapped into 5% of the potential.
Their are Fishing Tournaments and Bug Catching tournaments that you and your friends coulddo together. Also they have Holidays and Events that are exclusive to certain parts of the world and if you go to someone who lives in Korea's town you can go to an event that is exclusive to Korea. The same is for all around the world. The only thing that really bothers me about the game is that the one thing that's really getting attention (online play) seems to be useless and uninteresting. Edit* Also the reason they didn't go to the Tournament or anything is because Tournaments are only on certain days. Yesterday their was a fishing Tournament.

It is most certainly not the same game , I will be standing in front of GameStop an hour from now waiting for the beauty that is Animal Crossing!!!!! Anyone else?spartan211
Yes, me! And I'm glad to hear of your enthusiasm spartanÂ
There is a lot of new stuff. Even though the basic concept hasn't changed, I'm still getting it.
It may be almost the same game, with changes thrown in, but I don't care. What I really want is to start new. I mean, I worked hard on my first two towns, but I don't want to delete them, because I worked so hard on them and I can still use them. But the game loses some fun when you can buy anything without working for it, or there is nothing in your town you can improve on. My main reason for getting this game is to start off with a new town, where I have to work for my stuff, and enjoy that work. Thats what Animal Crossing is.

You find stuff to do I guess. Hard to explain. :P
[QUOTE="elbert_b_23"]what gets to me on how hard people are on with nintedo games, no one ever says thats the halo games are alike but with minor changes, or how the god of war games are the same but with minor changesAlexSays
It's no secret, people hate on Nintendo for ridiculous reasons.Â
For what reason, I have no idea.
Microsoft could give Halo 3 new box art, change the name, release it tomorrow, and more people would complain about Animal Crossing not being completely different.
Â
im not a Halo fan but since its brought up, if you were to play it, you would know its the gift that keeps on giving. Bungie just keeps on adding.

you mean just like on the DS version where people will come to your town to just run around taking fruit and have a fish/bug contest with no purpose? But this time theres WiiSpeak so talking should heighten the amazement that is online play in this game, right? And about the whole Korea thing, dont you first have to add them to the friends list?
[QUOTE="JLF1"]
AC has the exact same town and gameplay, why not have the game in a different town or in a new setting?
AlexSays
The towns randomly generate with different characters. They're not the same.
Â
But the make-up of the towns are.
To the complainers: 1) If you could add something to the game without drastically changing it, what would you add that would make it a justifiable purchase? 2) If the game does not appeal to then do not get it. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. 1) Ok, lets see. I would add some kind of character customization. I never liked how the games chose your character for you. Sometimes I would get a really ugly looking guy and I had to start over. I don't mean just changing the hair either.
Doing new things outside of your town, like going to your parents house, amusement parks, etc. It shouldn't just be about upgrading your house and collecting stuff.Â
In online, instead of you visiting your friends towns, how about they can live in your town.
They could of had the city actually be the town instead of having a tiny city in your town. That would of made things feel different right there.
Things like this along with the new furniture, holidays, etc would of made it feel new.
2) The game does appeal to me. I just think Nintendo could of done a better job. I will still be getting it because I know I will have fun with it. Just not as much as I could of had.

Is that necessarily a bad thing?
Change for the sake of change is just unnecessary. City Folk makes improvements where necessary (voice chat instead of endless stylus/pointer typing, ability to send mail to friends towns from yours) and adds more of the collectible items that make AC worth playing.
You can say that the graphics are the same, the gameplay is the same, and the characters are the same, but what if they weren't? What if they did with Animal Crossing what they did with Twilight Princess? What if we turn those elephants and racoons and people into more realistic versions of themselves? And let's give it a deep storyline, with plot twists and love triangles. Ooh, and we should mix up the gameplay element by adding puzzles to advance the storyline.
Oh wait, this isn't Animal Crossing anymore, is it?

Now you're just being ridiculous. Look at Mario 64 v.s. Mario Galaxy. They changed A LOT, but it's still a mario platformer, and it still appeals to the same people, in fact it appeals to just about everyone. The point is that you can change a game in a plethora of different ways without changing the core concept of it. So many people have written blogs about what they would like to see in a new AC. There is a clear demand, and incentive for change.
