Animal Crossing New Leaf Friends + 300,000 Bells technique

I didn't feel like making a new thread and this seems to be one of the more active NL topics.

Any tips for catching a Tarantula and Scorpion? I have yet to see one and I've played during the times they come out. Do they only appear near certain objects/flowers/etc? Anything that gives them away? I haven't really found too much about how to catch them - only what time/months they appear. 

Tarantulas and Scorpions come out at night when it's dark. In WW they make a kind of rustling sound, but I'm not sure about NL. You have to be dang quick to catch them or you'll get bitten/stung. This is what the guide says: Tarantula: location is on grass and dirt. Best appearance is between 7pm and 4am. There's a slight increase in your luck of finding them in the month of August. Scorpion: location is on grass and dirt. Best appearance is between 7pm and 4am. There's a slight increase in your luck of finding them in the month of September.RoniHot

Yeah. I kept finding similar info on other websites. I've read from people who have been playing the Japenese version for awhile that the Tarantula and Scorpion are the hardest to catch and even rarity. I did see people suggest cutting down all your trees and storing them if you really want to imporve your chances as it decreases the spawning of other bugs you don't want. That just seems like a pain though to be honest. I also think neither come out while it is raining - which is has been in my town almost all day when I'm playing this past week. Grrr. 

Hmm. While I'm curious to know what the technique is, I feel like it would ruin the whole point of the game, to gradually build your wealth and goods. That's all part of the fun!rubber-chicken

Although it kind of makes the game more realistic - just like in life, you'll always find those willing to take an easy way if given the chance.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and ride my high horse and then stand on my soap box...

I hear yeah. I try to ignore it, but I can be pretty OCD in games like this.

My thing has been going to the island every night around 8 or so. There are several beetles that are worth 8k and 10k a pop, plus several sharks in the water which go anywhere from 4k to 15k (I count the 4k ocean sunfish in with the sharks). Once you get the movement patterns down, scaring away the undesirables, not scaring away the money bugs, you can easily get 200k in 1-2 hours. Less time if you're lucky.

Everything you can buy in the various shops can always be repurchased through the catalog - correct? I know fortune cookie prizes for example can't be bought through the catalog, but also some of the things villagers give you?

I've basically been buying everything and only saving items from fortune cookies and some letters from helping people. I guess anything I should hold onto will just say not for sale in the catalog anyways!

Still, the more friends the merrier!  Fruit exchanges would be welcome too.  I have peaches and cherries available and hopefully bananas and mangoes in the next few days(they seem to be growing, so I'm hopeful).
