I feel like we need a support group or something.

People look at me like I pulled out some GI Joes or something when I pull out my ds in public. Not to mention crawling through crowds of little kids in the DS games section of any store.

Luckily it seems like "adult" titles are becoming more common.

I suppose you could call a 19 year old an adult, at least... that's what my demeanor tells me...

I used to be embarassed to bring my DS out in public... but... that was back when i had the old skool original pre-lite DS...

then I got a nice Crimson-Black DS Lite...

it's not so bad, most people know what a DS is... and if they don't, they just think it's a big cellphone...

but, even the ladies know what a DS is, thanks to Brainage, and various SIM games...

im 19 will be 20 this year. i play DS sometimes. would be playing it everyday if i get the new DQ's, NG, and AC. not to be "adult" about it. and i don't really mind if people think it's so childish to play DS instead of psp. hey, every man for himself :P

I have been playing on a handheld for a long time. It does not bother me to play out in public. If other people think it is just a child's game, they are missing something special. Too bad for them, lol, they are are the ones who are missing out.

PS. I have not seen anyone else post here that has been playing as long me.

I'm 18, legally an adult, and i love the thing. I got it in 2005, and i've got a collection of 20+ games for it. I play it on the way to class, anywhere i can. I've actually seen 4 people on one bus playing a DS.

I'm 18, but I do not look like one. Instead, people think I'm a teen, so it's easier for me to express myself in public. I think I have a solution to the problem. First, wear a tag or anything that says DS = Tuff'. Make sure evry1 can see it. If any1 questions your action, just say: "pfffttt, What? You can't read or something?" (point at tag). It ain't much, but it's an idea.

Technically I guess I'm an adult now (just turned 18 ). I take my DS with me everywhere unless it's a place I KNOW I won't be able to play it. Not too many of my friends have them, but I don't really mind. That's what online is for, right? But yeah, I don't really have a problem playing in public. Handhelds are meant to be carried around so that's kind of what they're for.

I'm 21 and my friends and I always play DS in public. We like to play Bomberman Land Touch and Custom Robo Arena between our classes. People usually come up to us and ask if we were playing with calculators or something.

How long have you been playing? I've been playing since the year pong came out. Well I was little and just loved to do what my brothers and sisters were doing (i'm the youngest). I guess I can't see how you've been playing much longer than that since that and the odysey were right at the begining of gaming. I'd imagine that's about when you started as well?

I'm much, much more embarrassed about having my Ipod in public. I just don't want to come across as 'show boating'.

My DS is different. I play DS everywhere. I download demos at Target almost weekly. I sent a Cooking Mama demo to a girl on the bus one day. When I (temporarily)worked at 2K Games, the other employees had huge Mario Kart tournaments at lunch. My brother and I were able to use pictochat on an airplane, several rows apart. Hell, I've even traveled around with the hunter search option on in MPH. So far, I've convinced 7 people I know (all adults) to pick up a DS, as well. I don't worry about what anyone else thinks, DS is cool to me.

23 here, i seldom bring my DS out, because i own the old one, which i find kinda bulky.
Unless i'm bringing a backpack or pouch when i'm going out, i dont bring it. But i'd definitly wanna bring a DS Lite around if i have one, since it's pretty slick and small.
My brother and quite a couple of friends has got DS/DS Lites and they are all in the 20+ages....
I've also seen some older adults(like 30+) playing DS on public transport...

59 (That's FIFTY NINE!) A gamer - a DS lover - and still going strong. I love RPGs, strategies, and puzzle type games. My current favorites are Rune Factory and Puzzle Quest. But I have an unopened Zelda waiting for me. When I have a moment or two I play Touchmaster simply because it's quick. (Lots of cardgames/puzzlegames).

And it doesn't bother me if people stare. I can't tell you the number of times they've "inched" over and inquired "what are you playing?" and I tell them about the game. I even explained to a little boy once how to catch tarantulas in Animal Crossing. :D His parents were very grateful as he was getting frustrated.

The games are only getting better and better. There's a lot of "more mature" games out now.

32 yr old here and although in Greece there is not a huge DS crowd - or a huge handheld crowd on that matter, I enjoy the DS company when I dont have to switch 2-3 means of transportation when going to and leaving from my work place. Plus the multiplayer experience (e.g. AW: DoR) is a superb reason to get one ^^

On the downside some people do stare with a very puzzled face, but I d rather have their stares instead of trying to mold myself in the shape that current standards demand.

I'm 22 and and of course I use and love the DS, ever since the GB, I've owned and loved wvery Nintendo handheld and I'm proud to say so.

I use my DS in public, I don't care, and I seem to pull mostly an adult croud because of the innovative gameplay of most of games.

I have the phat DS and I find that one a lot more 'adult' looking than the lite.

Just turned 28 today and never felt embrassed about playing DS out in public. And going to the bar and playing a group game of Mario Kart while drinking beer is just plain good times.

19 and I bought my 18 yr old GF one. We both love it and, no, i'm not embarrassed. I've seen more embarassing things like me and two of my friends giving my teammates swirlies at school and getting caught, then one parent finds out, and he cries, screams, and breaks the boy's bathroom door down. What an Idiot. the whole time his son said it was funny but he didnt listen. At least I let his kid flush... The other parents found out and laughed BTW.

Hells, yea, bro! 19 and in college with my shiny black dS Lite! I've got a few friends with the dS. But considering that college students are poor...I can't really convince many newbies to buy it. One of my friends told me that I was not gonna get the ladies if they saw me playing my DS in public. I said au contraire...Brain Age and the Touch Generation will take care of that business for me. DS Rules! 8)

i'm 21, but i don't really have anyone to play my DS with... that never stopped me from playing Phantom Hourglass on an airplane though, or even while I was just waiting for my flight to arrive. I've only had my DS for a little over a month but I have Brain Age, Phantom Hourglass, Worms 2: Open Warfare, New Super Mario Bros., Jam Sessions and Pokemon Diamond - which is crazy, it sucked me right back into the world of Pokemon... I haven't played since Pokemon Gold.

I've never really considered it a big deal. I mean most people who see you playing DS in public probably don't know you or wouldn't recognize you if they ever saw you again. You can be sure that you have the courage that they lack: to play videogames in public or to play with 'toys' in public. I really don't care how I appear in public. I'm invisible (metaphorically speaking) in public unless someone knows me.

I'm 24, married and have a 4-month-old. I am a hardcore girl gamer; probably more hardcore then most of you guys out there. My favorite game genres are strategy(both turn-based and real-time), puzzle, rpg and monster breeding/battling games like Pokemon, Dragon Warrior Monsters, etc I dislike most FPS, Sports titles and fighting games. I take my ds everywhere and own over 60 games for it. My current favorite is Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. I am also a WOW-addict.

im 15(soon 16),and i have no idea why people hate ds or think its for kids????ITS GREAT!!! It Has a ton of good games for any gamer, maybe not deep but extremely fun and serve the purpose of hadhelds, which is to have fun on the go when consoles and pc arent present. And who cares about graphics ,as long as its simply fun, which some people fail to realize.

I'm a 20 year old and love my DS so much. The games made for it are really original and really fun to play.
