after reading about the ps3's new online plans...why Nintendo isn't hopping all the ball and doing something? i think its about time there was online gaming on the wii. i mean i love my wii, but if something new doesn't happen soon...my support for the wii just might miraculously disappear. maybe I'm just jumping the gun...but I'm just a little frazzled....thoughts?
Yes they should and it sounds like Mario Strikers Charged is pretty close to done and it is online and so is BWii which was announced the same time as Mario Strikers so it might be close to done. But this topic really should be in the system wars.
Online isnt that important. Lets say we get a crap game with online. You'll get your online, but you wont play it because its a crap game. Nintendo is getting us GOOD online games. These are in process right now. Go beat TP again and keep on waiting. Mario comes out soon anyways.

I am a little annoyed with Nintendo, but I was the same way with the DS. It took them over a year to establish online games (at least in the US) for the DS. When the games did come out, they were good games. It was worth the wait I think. I don't want to wait (at all), for online games, but if it means the games are going to be good, and not just any short, uniteresting game with online thrown in to sell discs.

why would you lose support? Is online gameplay that important, get some real friends instead of relying on people you dont know to play your video games with.
games are great and all but wouldn't you guys agree that its time the wii gets good games that are also online? i don't understand why you guys see that as such an issue. its the new standard these days.

You know what annoys me? People like you. "real gamers?" Video games are about fun, enjoyable experiences that everyone can have. Video games are not about losers running home after school every day to play Gears of War or Halo, they are a recreational activity, not a lifestyle.

I am really anxious to see how well it is done. But it will come in due time. The first game to have it will be Pokemon Battle Revolution, and it will be released at the end of June. Then, we will start to see online games popping up all over the place.

DUDE I couldn't agree iwht you anyMORE!!!! Seriously I am sick of this mass appeal "family" system. There are hardcore gamers out there too nintendo! We want online play! Anybody who doesn't understand this should go watch the 'playstiona home' vids. They make the miis and channels loook like a leapfrog system. No HD content, no DVD palyback, No high quality graphics, the LEAST they could do is have had online ready from the get-go. Screw pokemon battle, I want some real shooters and strategy games. If regginator doesn't announch FULL online play by the end of this year, I am done with nintendo
I really doubt Nintendo is going to do anything dramatic in response....they're trying to keep the complexity level of the console relatively low so as not to intimidate their target demographic of old people, young girls, and severely autistic fluffy kittens........

I think if people don't want to sit with their consoles and wait for features and games, then they shouldn't buy consoles at/soon after launch. Too many people rush out to be the first to own a system, then complain because there's aren't a ton of good games... or that the console isn't being used to it's full potential... or that some of the features haven't arrived yet. I bought a Wii a couple months after launch... as someone who has been gaming for a couple decades I understand that this means I am going to be waiting for the best games and features. I also would rather Nintendo take their time and do things right instead of rushing things and ending up putting out sub-par content just because a few people are impatient.Â
People get so worked up about a few Sony announcements. Home is a neat gimmic, but it's not a feature I'd use. LBP, however, looks great, even if a little over-hyped already- it's a Nintendo-inspired platformer with a level editor. Still, it looks cool. But why should I be annoyed? If the PS3 builds up a stock of good, exclusive games I may pick one up when the price drops.

why is everyone so bothered about the pshome, i hate the sims, so boring and yes everyone thinks it great and to be honest no way will my child who is 10 will be allowed to go on this pshome, to risky.
I'm getting a PS3, maybe this friday and I think home is pretty cool. I am not however annoyed as I already own a Wii and 360 and work full time and there's just not enough hours in the day. Don't be jealous of Home if you have a Wii and do not plan on getting PS3, check out Animal Crossing when it comes out. For me I need every system for their exclusives, if Wii is your only console don't worry Home does not launch untill fall and the software line-up is still better on Wii at the moment. Nintendo has to make sure when Wii  games go online that they are ready and I'd rather them take the time and provide good service than come out too soon and be less than adequate.
i agree that nintendo is taking sometime to get their online service up, but i don't think that it is a bad thing. I would rather wait for nintendo to make a good online service with good online games to play than a sunpar one that was rushed out just to have it on the console early. Home doesn't come out for a while which means that sony is taking their time, so if sony can take their time and hopefully make their good online service then so can nintendo. Thats how i see it.

How can you say that? It adds almost unlimited replayability to games, gives gamers ability to play games without stuffing 3 other people in their living room. And a lot of times its hard to get 3 friends over for an afternoon scheduled at one time...so its easier to play just with whoever is on. Plus it connects you across the world. If you have family in a different region, or even right across the state...its nice to connect to people and play. Nintendo may say online is unimportant, but thats because they dont want to do it. Look how they intentionally flopped PSO on the Gamecube by killing off manufacturing of the online adapters...
Yes. Gamecube came in third for a reason people. If the Wii doesn't start jumpstarting their online plan...I see the Wii starting to fizzle into "Gamecube mode". Let me put it this way: if you want to see another Nintendo console after the Wii, then they better start pushing the capabilities of the Wii right now. If they don't, then I think the more modern gamers that Nintendo still has a grasp on....will switch sides. I really don't think Nintendo will stay in the console business if they come in a lame third again...
I guess i am annoyed. I wanted the Wii to have online play from launch but it didn't but that was fine since it just launched and i thought Nintendo was getting it ready. But it should have started by now. I guess we will have to wait at least until Q3 2007 to see the online games that i want.

Yeah Nintendo is saying yeah lets hold back online to get people cryying and whining, its getting done relax and wait for it to happen. And to the TC is Sony's new online that rip off of the Sims and Mii's? I think what you should say is Sony's new borrowed online plan.

I still don't care about online and Sony's plans won't help them if they don't come out with GAMES.
despite a lot of the sony ideas being ripoffs, its still a step in the right direction wouldn't u agree? as a lot of people have already mentioned, online is going to be the future of consoles it already is in fact. pokemon being the first game is bad enough in my opinion, it might be a step in the right direction. does anyone know how its going to be implemented? i think nintendo should take steps towards an XBL service. free though of course.
The Wii is designed to be a party type console. It was not designed to incorporate a multitude of online functionality. I really think Nintendo is making a huge mistake by not taking online support seriously. The vc downloads can only carry the console so far. Judging by the group of games that was announced for the Wii, I feel that the Wii user are getting short changed by the big N. I hope I am wrong but I the Wii can maintain its momentum.
