Anyone else a little miffed over Squenix's $39.99 pricing?

If it's a really great game that I really want, I'm not going to let the price stop me. That said, I do try to avoid shelling out 40 bucks for a DS game -- I mean, for 10 dollars more I could get a CONSOLE game. I think that 35 really should be the most charged...but hey, Square Enix's games have got tons of production value, so I'd rather get a good game and pay up for it than a crappy game for ten dollars cheaper. Still...I mean, I was unimpressed with FFIII and paid for that, annoyingly. Ever since I got GameFly, I've been able to test out those games, particularly those that are more expensive, to determine if they're really worth the investment.

Square Enix barely makes new games that are at least decent nowadays. The either make only an OK game or a port that costs $5-$10 more than a normal game. What a ripoff!

The problem with seiken densetsu 3 and I had no idea about this until yesterday the reason why it never came over here is because they had issues with the game. They would fix one bug and then two would pop up. One bug in the game got to the point where sometimes if you hit a enemy nothing would happen. Maybe they where afraid of a recall. project-exile
I'll try to skirt around a dangerous subject here: If fans can make a bug free, translated version of the game then you wouldn't think it would be too hard for Square to do it. Seiken Densetsu 3 is one of the best SNES games in my opinion, and it makes me mad that Square has been sitting on it for so long. With the continued love for Secret of Mana you'd think it would be an easy cash in for Square, but apparently they'd rather make lame FF7 mobile games.

I really hate that Square is releasing their old games for the handhelds and not the VC but if you think about it is really smart business. I mean, 5-8 bucks for a VC game for 40 for a handheld. It's clear why square went with the handheld option. but what really grinds my gears is that out of all the re-releasing square has done, the have not released Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the SNES. If you didn't know, Square partnered with Nintendo for that game and that's why it is the best Mario RPG ever made, and my favourite game of all time (yes I liked it even more than OoT).

Nintendo has the rights to Mario RPG. We'll see it on the VC whenever Nintendo feels like it, I guess. They really should rush it out though, since it never saw an official release in Europe. Those poor Europeans! :o

The ESRB has already re-rated the game for release on the VC. However, this was back at launch. So,... it's only a matter of time.

*sigh* This is one reason why I hate Squenix with a pure hatred...yet they still make good games that have a lot of quality so you do essentially get what you pay for, even though IT IS pricey.

But one beef I really had was how much Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP was when Jeanne D`Arc, a brand new game and NOT a port, was $10 cheaper. That ticks me off...but I still bought both anyway.

And yeah, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles being charged $40 is a little too much. So was Revenant Wings and FFIII. Still, I will say, while angrily I might add, that their games are still worth it...but then I'm reminded that FFVII Crisis Core is $39.99 which makes me ticked all over again when I see how much Crystal Chronicles is going for.

get the bloody hell over it, in Australia we have to pay upwards of $70 for a game, and an aussie doller is nearly equal to an American doller atm.

Good lord.

Well that was when the seiken densetsu 3 first came out way back when was what I was talking about. From what I have seen that game looked totally awesome. It got me mad was nintendo power had this huge article about the game and then it never came out. Square enix to me right now cares more about thos crappy final fantasy 7 spin offs than what would make them money. Secret of mana series and chrono trigger would make them a lot of money and they seem to ignore what the fans want. It is like square enix does not care what the fans say. Back when it was square soft I think we might have had a better chance of getting these games out. Does not seem like that right now. It is a different company and it seems to be focusing of lack luster games, which is what I think is going to doom the company if square enix does not change.

Well, to give them some credit, Square sequeled the "Mana" series a few times on the GBA, DS and PS2. But all of them were sub-par. It seems like Square can't really capture the essence of what made the original Secret of Mana series so excellent. Did anyone play Legend of Mana (PS1)? It was very close, but too different to appease fans.

On a side note, . . . I want to see a new Parasite Eve.
