I'm down with wiimakes of gamecube classics. I didn't have a gamecube, and used gamecube games are a bit hard to find around here. Serve me up a heaping portion of metroid prime 1/2 please!webhead921

Pikmin 2 is all I care about, I'll buy it day one. Everything else I already have on GC or don't care about.
I'm glad Nintendo is doing this though, most of the people who have Wiis never had GameCubes so these games are completely new to them and hopefully they'll build awareness of the franchises so games like Pikmin 3 do well.
Plus who cares if users missed out? Nintendo's job is to make sure that everyone is caught up? -jasonguy unless thats a typo, you cant get caught up without playing older gamesEdgeHarvey
Nintendo should care, who the hell is going to buy Pikmin 3 if they've never heard of Pikmin 1 and 2? Nintendo has built it's self through it's franchises and the public's awareness of those franchises, having people "caught up" would be a big deal for them and the future of their brands.

Are you kidding?
Every single Nintendo title has sold better on the Wii then they did on the Gamecube.
That means that literally millions of people have bought the Nintendo games without playing the previous versions
Nintendo does not need to make sure people are "caught up"

That would be an excellent argument if what you said were true. Sadly, it is not. Metriod Prime 3 sold significantly less than Metriod Prime and it is games like that and Pikmin to which I am referring. Nintendo's more niche brands that sold relatively poor on GameCube and will sell even worse on Wii. Now, I never said that this was the sole reason for Nintendo's re-release of these particular GameCube games but it is a factor. The list of the wiimakes reads like a who's who of Nintendo's Gamecube flops and late-shows, DK Jungle Beat, Chibi-Robo, Mario Tennis, the Pikmins and Metriods. None of these were multi-million sellers (except MP1) and to many people who never owned GCs (and to some who did), these game are brand new. Nintendo is wise to make profit off this fact and boost the brand awareness of these franchises in the process.

What if there are people behind on the game's series story?totally agreed
I'm only excited about Chibi Robo. The reason is because obviously it didn't do so well on the GC.
As Wii owners have shown these past few years, they are down to try anything, so the series may be revitalized with this release.

Mario Kart Gamecube 6.96
Mario Kart Wii 14.25
7.29 million increase
Mario Sunshine 6.28

Smah Gamecube 7.08

Paper Mario Gamecube 2.05
Paper Mario Wii 2.70
.65 million increase
So just those 4 titles are an increase of over 10.5 million sales. Sales that did not need to be "coaxed" with earlier software
Your Metriod argument is false as well
Metroid Prime sold 2.83 million over 6 years
Metriod Prime 2 LOST 1.54 million sales despite being released when there were more consoles in users hands. A paltry 1.29 million sold.
Metroid Prime 3's 1.5 million has already eclipsed Metroid Prime 2's sales in 3 fewer years but it's on it way to eclipse 1's as well. That's despite the fact it hasn't even been out for a year in all three regions.
The "niche software doesn't sell well and needs help"/sell poor on Wii argument is again false
First party niche games
Wii Fit = 15.18 million
Big Brain Academy = 3.44 million
Animal Crossing = 2.67 million
Warioware = 2.44 million
Wii Music = 2.33 million
5 niche titles with over 26 million sales
So what's selling poorly on the Wii? Because it sure isn't niche software
......
I cant believe some people are so passionate about this subject! lol
It's just a simple thing..... if you don't want the wiimakes, don't buy em.
If you do... well, I made this topic for people to express excitement about it :P
For me, the MP1/MP2 wiimakes are totally worth it. Prime 3 had such a brilliant control scheme... it will be well worth it to replay 1/2 with MP3 controls. IMHO. please note that last acronym. It's very important.

I'm beginning to think you're not well. Anyone who thinks Wii Fit, Animal Crossing or the brain training games (games deliberately targeted toward a very broad audience) are niche is not of stable mind. We are not talking about time-frames or any other nonsense, Metriod Prime 3 has not sold more than its predecessors. The Wii has more than twice the install base the Gamecube ever did, if brand awareness was not necessary Metriod Prime 3 should have sold much more than Prime 1 by now from the sheer fact that it is available to more people. You cite Mario games and Smash Bros as evidence that my theory is Incorrect but those games are not what I was talking about. All those games you mentioned are built solely or primarily off the Mario brand, a brand known to almost anyone who's ever heard of video games. I never stated that these remakes were absolutely necessary for its Wii sequels to do well but they will undoubtedly help. These are GameCube games that did not sell as well as Nintendo expected, games that will fair a better chance on Wii, increase brand awareness for the franchises to which they belong and make Nintendo a pile of easy money. I don't understand your problem with it.
^ I don't understand people's problem with the wiimakes either. It's not like Nintendo announced that they were halting production on all wii games and putting their full attention to remaking every gamecube title ever made. :S
If you don't want these games... ok! great! don't get them then!
If you do, awesome. I made this topic asking if anyone else was excited for them (like I am), and instead I get all these HATERS who act like they're being forced to buy these games. Whatever!

I've shown you how popular franchises and niche franchises sell
If you fail to see the facts then that's fine, but you lost this argument the second you said that Animal Crossing was a title directed towards everyone
So where do Donkey Kong: Barrell Blast and Fire Emblem: Radiant dawn fit in the Nintendo equation?
Do they just not count because of how massively they both failed?
SirSpudly
Oh Spud you're so wonderful, thank you for bringing up Barrel Blast
There's the prime example on how these Gamecube games will turn out
Barrel Blast was a Gamecube game that was dragged along to the Wii. Instead of the bongos they replaced it with the Wiimote and chuk and lo and behold it didn't translate well.
So of course the most logical direction would be to take another Donkey Kong game that needed the bongos and strip it of it's most needed component and release it again.
^Only you are forgetting that I am applying those two games to your counter-arguments, not giving you more ammo.
According to vgchartz (because those two never hit NPD) DK: Barrel Blast only sold 560,000 units worldwide while FE: RD sold 400,000 units in Japan & America (no records were ever released or stolen from European sales charts).
Comparing those to their gamecube itenerations is impossible for me, because nobody seems to have full records of Donkey Konga 3 and FE: Path of Radiance.
I believe the contradiction exists there, if only there was a way to prove it without getting caught. Then the truth will blow the mystery right out of the water.
Jaysonguy. Why don't you just write a complaint letter to the president of NOA? That might make you feel better. Because I'm starting to think that you lose sleep over these gamecube wiimakes. :Sfluffy_kins
I've already done it
I also recently stopped someone from buying a Wii in the store once I showed them Nintendo's new direction (not the first and wont be the last)
I do my part to help, don't worry

well, at least you keep it interesting around here.
Nah Im not interested, its nice some of you lot are but this isn't the reason I spent £180 for a new console. I dont really play my Wii now but my 4 year old does although she copes fine with a wavebird so I shouldn't even need to rent them for her.
Im actually surprised there is so much support for these remakes, especially considering how much they are charging for them.
I mentioned earlier in this thread that I had just bought the Pikmin Wii-make but hadn't played it yet. I have now and I have to say that it's absolutely great! I had never played Pikmin before and am so glad that they have put it on Wii because frankly I can't see how this game could be played WITHOUT the pointer.
In a word: fantastic.

What? When did I say AC was for "EVERYONE"? Broad audience does not equal "everyone," my friend. No game is ever "for everyone" but all the games you listed as niche are casual games. Casual gamers far outnumber hardcore gamers in the marketplace and are a larger and more broad audience. I assume you think The Sims and Tetris are niche as well...
