Zelda is coming out later this week. When I saw the release date on Gamestop.com, I was excited. Then as I was watching the trailers, demo videos, and screenshots, I realized something, something bothering me deep inside my mind...this is essentially the exact same game I beat multiple times.

So I asked myself, "Is it really worth getting a 3DS for this?" Of course it isn't just for one game. The 3DS really doesn't have many games at the moment. Super SFIV is great and DoA is cool, but it doesn't make much sense to get those when I already have the console versions. Eventually I want to get a 3DS, but I guess I can wait a little longer to get one. And knowing Nintendo, you know there's going to be a new color or maybe even a 3DS Lite.

Zelda Ocarina of Time is probably the greatest game ever made, but it's really just a collector's item. I don't think I'd play this version all over again even with the enhanced visuals. And that's the word, "enhanced," which is significantly different than a true remake.

I envy the younger generation gamers that'll experience this masterpiece, and the definitive version too. I wish I had amnesia so I can experience this all over again.

That's how I feel about it. Anyone else feel the same way? :(

I haven't played OoT since... over a decade at least. So, I'm all ready to adorn the green tunic once more.

I can understand how you feel, though. If I had played the original more recently, I may feel the same.

I feel the same. Besides, if I wanted to play OoT, I'll just hook up the ol' 64 and pop in the cartridge.

My only problem is Link jumps like an idiot. Aside from that, the game looks superb (naturally).

I haven't played it in 5 years so I'm pretty excited, mostly because all the 3DS games I own kind of suck and it's refreshing to know that I will get a triple A game in a week.

Honestly? I'm very burned out on OoT. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I did the older Zelda games and all this hype about it coming out again? It's come out over and over and it's getting old. I'm not thrilled at all and could really care less.

How can you not be excited for what is consiered by many as "the greatest game of all time", now with updated graphics and easier gameplay (thanks to the touch screen)?

Zelda OOT is an amazing game, but given the fact that nearly every nintendo gamer has played this game, it is difficult be excited for it. however as a new 3DS owner I am more or less glad to have the choice of being able to play the game if nostalgia kicks in. nintendo should reboot Majoras mask too or even Windwaker on the 3DS.

I am very excited for this game. It is on my shame list of never beating it myself. I never owned it for the 64, but several of my friends did and I would play it with them at their house. I am so pumped to play through what is widely considered the greatest game of all time by myself in 3D!

I wasn't really a huge fan of zelda back in the day as I am now. I never played OOT so this will be a new game play experience for me. But I can see why some people are not excited about something they played before.

MMMMM let me think..

one of my top five games ever...

on a handheld, upgraded in many ways plus 3D (which i still think the effect is jawdropping)..

I can't wait.... I do understand thereluctance of people who have played it to death though..... But if you enjoy the 3D effect and want to play on the go i'm sure it's worth a few more playthroughs for this fantastic masterpiece.

I AM Buying it but i will be suprised if i sit down and play through it all (never completed it but i have seen alot of it and played over half the game...GOT TO THE WATER TEMPLE). People who are saying they haven't played it in 10 years will remember alot of it as soon as they start a new game (like a film you watch years later - its still in your head, just takes a reminder) . I would have prefered that they used the N64 zelda engine to make a game with the same style but new designs and a new story. Majoras Mask and Ocarina are the best - i think a 3rd game with the same mechanics but new level design would be great. Even so, im buying it because it is one of the best games ever and alot of people are going to by it because of that - if you where too young or never got the chance before - this is a great game and one you should get for the system. I can't get that excited about the newer Zeldas because the formula hasn't really changed at all, and after 5 or so games from Ocarina - you begin to think you are playing the same thing over, get a sword, get a shield, go to a temple, repeat, repeat, and beat boss, save the world. I hate how bad some of the newer Zeldas have introduced terrible characters or ideas (the wolf/dog/thing and LINK USING A TRAIN to get around!!!!!)

I'm not "excited" (does the quoting finger thing) for this game as I have already beaten it once. But I am going to buy this game again just so that I can relive it. Oh and to try the master quest.

I'm not over-excited for it but I do want it. I'm pretty sure this mixed reactions happens when a game is re-releasec or remade. People who have it don't want it and thats understandable.

I'm pretty excited for it.
I've played the original a couple of times, but I never finished the game. I was always stuck during the Jabu-Jabu temple and the water temple. Eventually I gave up and never played it again.
What can be greater than finally finishing the "greatest game of all time" in 3D? :P And this will give me something to do while waiting for Skyward Sword.

Well I'm excited about it because it's the greatest game I've ever played and now it's in 3d (which I love ) and it's remastered. Besides I haven't played Master Quest and I heard that it changes a lot inside the dungeons. Although I've played and beated it a number of times before, I'm still excited about it.

Sorry but I'm not one of those guys you are looking for.

IT's my favourite game of all time so of course i am. It was made for Hardcore fans. Nitnendo aren't hyping this game to be a revolution, it's remake of an N64 classic, that's it.

Somewhat excited, but not "go out and purchase a 3DS excited" for it. I've already got the Master Quest bundle by pre-ordering Wind Waker so I don't think I'd be missing out on much content wise. I actually started re-playing OOT + MM yesterday and noticed how clunky it feels compared to WW + TP so I kind of want to try this one out, Link looked really smooth in a lot of the videos I watched and the water temple videos make it look like walking underwater will finally not be a chore.

If you don't have a 3DS, imo I would wait till they eventually release the newer version. Probably with lower price ect. Most of the great games won't come out for years. Unless you plan to buy lots of games. I'm gonna just wait it out.

I agree that the 3DS has had a rocky start. I bought mine the day they came out, but still don't own a 3DS game because the opening line-up was just sorry. Only since E3 has nintendo begun to make up for it with the update to add internet access and the eShop. But yeah, Zelda Ocarina is one of the games I'm looking forward to the most. I got to play it back in the gamecube days when that promo disk with windwaker demo came with the console and it got me hooked on the Zelda series, but it's long since been damaged and rendered unplayable.

I think nintendo will continue to make the 3DS a worthwhile system though. Coming out around the same time as Zelda will be the Kid Icarus: Uprising game that seems to have been inspired by Super Smash Bros. And my prediction is that pretty soon things will start getting more heated up. So I'd say yes: the 3DS is worth getting. the "when" part is up to you though. Lots of my friends who are planning on buying one say they'regoing to wait till the christmas season. I don't understand the reasoning behind that, but hey, whatever you like.

I just think it will be cool to be able to play OOT on a handheld, and with 3D. I never beat it before, the 2 times I owned it, but I think by having it on my 3DS I might feel more inclined to finish the fight this time so to speak.

I was originally excited for it because OOT is my favorite of all time, but I have the original version, and now I'm not so sure it's worth spending $40 just to play in brighter colors.

Haven't played OoT in years. So I'm definitely excited to experience it again in handheld/3D form.
