For those of you that don't already know, Ocarina of Time is being released on the VC tomorow. This is the only game on Gamespot (to my knowledge) that has achieved a perfect 10.0 rating.
Now I know that Gamespot's rating don't in any way affect (or sometimes reflect *coughcoughtwilightprincesscough*) the  quality of a game, but since Gamespot has unintelligently decided to rerate timeless forbidden>SonicTheMonkey
Not really. I think their recent trend of bad reviews has ended. I think what caused this was a bad first impression of the Wii (Red Steel sucking after all it's hype, too many overly happy games such as Wii Sports & Happy Feet, and crap vc games).

I wouldn't say GS can tarnish OoT.  They can give a low score that I may disagree with, but it doesn't really worry me.

Well I dont think time has affected this game in the least. I think that it really holds up well to time, but I dont know how they would be able to give it a 10 again because of the fact that its over 9 years old right now. And even though time has not really killed this game or really even hurt it, it still 7 years of improving from other games thats prolly not going to make this game look as perfect anymore.ice_radon
you just contradicted yourself.... that 7 years of improvement IS what a game holding up over time means... if its not as good as the games today then it didn't hold up great... now if games of that genre haven't changed much since then.... well then it has held up fairly well. [QUOTE="schu"][QUOTE="PikaPichu"][QUOTE="XBSHX"]TP deserved its score. Do you even know how they rate VC games? they don't rate them based on how great they were back in the day... they rate them based on how they stand up to todays standards.

heh, a lot of the more hardcore Nintendo fans in this forum refuse to accept that.

i can accept it, but i think that they should rate it at least somewhat differently..i dont think its fair to rate it based on other games that have come since then, the question should be, can i pick up this game and have a good time? they are cheap games and thats how they are being used..they arent the bread and butter of most peoples gaming libraries

Why isn't it? you are paying for something to play in 2007... they are telling you if it is worth it compared to other things you can play and if its worth your money. And if you think they are rating them wrong then why do you care about the score?

err...I don't know if you can realize this seeing as your probablly being blinded by nostalgia.......but TP is technically the better game.

That's not saying anything seeing that it came out 8 years later yet stole most of it's ideas.  For that matter I just was toying with the backwards compatibility and it's a basic fact OOT has a better paced and designed opening segment than TP.

I have a feeling that OoT will be one of the highest, if not max out the highest VC reviewed game on the Wii.  Meaning if it scores an 8.9 for example, I don't think any VC game will score AAA.  There shouldn't be too many games to score higher (I know this is quite obvious due to many people regarding this as one of the best games ever made).  As for tarnishing it, no I don't think that it will be tarnished.  When it was released back in '97, it was revolutionary.
