Are SNES Virtual Console games stretched on widescreen TVs?

I use a computer monitor with my Wii, so I don't have the aspect ratio changing options that TVs have. So this is kind of a concern for me.

Yeah they stretch to a certain extent.

This is a horrible picture but that's Super Metroid on my TV. (yes it's a HDTV)

Interesting. It doesn't stretch when you play the trial version in Brawl. I wonder why it does for the actual game.

You know I never actually tried the Demos on this TV yet. Is your settings on Widescreen?

you say your playing the games from brawl? those are just like 1min of gameplay and does not represent the virtual console.

SNES games stretch on my TV. I'm sure I could mess with some settings and make it look normal, but I don't feel like doing that every time I want to play a VC game and putting it back when I'm done.

They do get stretched... Which is why I play mine in 4:3. Not too much hassle really :) I'm still quite surprised how good SNES games still look. Especially DKC and Super Metroid. They both look so clean and precise.
