Zelda TP is a GC game ported to the Wii.
Godfather is also a port with upgraded controls and minor graphical brushups.
Yeah Sonic's one of the first groundup Wii games so it has good graphics.
Super Paper Mario is also a GC port brought to the Wii with some controller upgrades.
Madden is a port with upgraded controls.
So there you go. Those games you mentioned apart from Sonic are ALL ports. We will soon see good graphics. And I thought these threads died a while ago.
Graphics make movies not games! I don't mind that a game is not in super dooper High def so long as it's fun to play!JustWiicredible
I agree with you 100% Nintendo games are about gameplay, not graphics. Im tired of people making topics like this over and over again.

TrueÂ
Two things:
I think people need to realise that solid gameplay is what ultimately makes a great game, not graphics.
However, if people say graphics aren't important, then they need to wake up. If graphics didn't matter at all, we'd still be playing the 8-bit atari

No, Nintindo gave up because they knew they coundn't beat the 360's and ps3's graphics.Guckyy
this is wii forums, check system wars, and also, they couldve if they wanted to, its not like there was anything stopping them, they just decided to not make so much of an upgrade

Well that's not really System Wars material since he's only stating the obvious. But I'm glad Nintendo decided to do something different, having three high-powered and high-priced consoles would be a bit too much. Although a high-powered Wii with Wiimote would be pretty darn cool!
Also, Nintendo didn't really have a choice on the matter. They knew if they were going to compete with Sony and MS on their terms, they'd get their asses handed to them, like so many times before. So the Big N saw the only way to break the cycle was to do something different from the competitors.Â

it would have been very easy for nintendo to have the same grafx lik the PS3 but look at the prce of the PS3, imagine that with motion sensing. Prices would have been extremely high.
Now about the Wii grafx thing, first of all look at SMG and SSBB to see you are completely wrong, the problem here is that many of the Wii game are ports. Also how do you compare SPM with good grafx, it is a 2D game its like comparing a Castlevania game (DS ones) with the Resident Evil (also for DS) those are different styles. Also look at SSBM it doesn't have the best grafx and it is an extremely good game (if not the best, at least for me) also look at the SNES games, they didn't have great grafx and still were a hell of a lot fun Â

Yes they are trying, you are simply playing port like it was already stated.
Â
If Nintendo wasnt gonna try with the graphics, they would have made the Wii a Gamecube add-on, not a whole new console.
Â
And anyway, you should know by now that the first generation of games on a new console are always slightly disapointing in the gfx side except for a few, the first games out usually didnt had enough time to properly use the dev kit to make a game with OMIGAZ GFX that takes full use of the console...
Â
(look back at super smash bros melee back then, look at Zelda TPP to see the difference betwen early game on a console and late game, or hell, compare SSBM and SSBB to see the gap and realize they do try)Â
How is SPM a port its not out for GC I mean come on zachdragon
look at metroid and smash, they will have the best graphics yet on the wii
the wii RIGHT NOW .. can easily make the graphics of the last best Gcube games
so with time, developpers will know the console and surpass the cube/ps2Â and probably surpass the xbox graphics
Nintendo could have made the Wii as powerful as the PS3, but look at the price... jorgeluisbl
So far I love my Wii and greatly enjoyed every game I've played soo far and my family loves it also. But I've noticed that Zelda TP for the Wii has the same graphics as the gamecubes...The godfather has the same graphics as the ps2 version...Sonic looks alright...Super Paper Mario looks like subpar gamecube graphics...and Madden looks like ps2 graphics even though it's the best football game I've ever played! I don't care all that much about graphics but I was lead to believe that it was an enhanced gamecube and even stronger than the xbox. I know it takes years before you reach full potential but when are the games going to start looking somewhat next gen??MrVigeant
Â
People like you remind me why I started to lose my passion for games. Its nice for a game to look good but really its about the gameplay. When gaming started to get more popular gamers that are shallow always complain about the graphics. Who cares if it looks like gears of wars as long as it plays good its ok with me.Â

Since when does "once" qualify as "so many times"?
Lose your passion for games? Didn't I say that I loved the Wii and all I really was asking is how powerful the Wii is!! I don't know why people act all offended when I just mention that the graphics look exactly the same as the gamecubes because it does. I just want to know how much more powerful the Wii is because you might say graphics don't matter, but they do help.MrVigeant
Let's just say they look good enough. But the games you did mention were all ports. Really look at Super Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3 (even though there still using the same enigine from the other 2) and tell me if you don't think those look good. Dont worry we will (hopefully) see something this year at E3 that will show some of Wii's true potential in terms of graphics. Remember when they first showed games like Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 they looked amazing at the time. I used to work at Gamestop and hated how people didnt like the Wii because of the graphics but never actually played one. It just like rap music were people are shallow and dont actually spend there time trying to find something good instead of trying to fit in with the mainstream crap.

If E3 was still around, that is.

"Once"? On the contrary, the Wii is the first truly successful console from Nintendo since the SNES.Â
Twilight Princess has the same graphics on both the GC and on the Wii because the game was developed for the GC so Nintendo didn't have time to make any improvements if they were to release it together with the Wii.
Super Paper Mario doesn't have subpar GC's graphics, it obviously doesn't use half of the Wii's hardware, but it is not that bad.
Let's not forget that we are still on the first generation of games for the Wii. I think the next releases will change that a little bit.

Nintendo DS.
And didn't the GBA do all right too?
Also this is why I think just owning one system is not a good idea. I like a little taste from everything.finalfantasy94

Yea I know the prices are well...... crazy. I went with Nintendo because I alwayd buy the next gen nintendo system first before anything. Yea I know 360 looks like FPS nation I mean after all its made in america and thats what it seems what all american wants, but it has some titles that are pretty darn good that arent FPS or 3rdPS that cach my intrest. The PS3 and Wii I think are going to have the more varity of games then 360.
P.S. I'm American and live in NEW YORK. Just incase if people think i'm trying to diss americans.
Doesn't seem like they're really trying, which is a bit of a shame. Graphics aren't everything, but neither is gameplay.monco59
Thank You, these fanboys just don't wanna hear it. Somone needs to really put the pressure on for some good looking games. Crappy ports aint gonna cut it.

no nintendo isnt trying at all they think the everyone is gonna love the wii becuase of its supaa kewllZ controller
nintendo is trying to make the system appeal to casual gamers not hardcore gamers
EDIT: and nintendo's gameplay is getting duller so i mean, noone can even say gameplay makes up for graphics

They're trying to appeal to the hardcore gamers and open up a market for those who are casuals. I wouldn't blame everything on Nintendo, either. A lot of the games out for Wii weren't even created by Nintendo developers so you can't blame them for the visuals of the games. Twilight Princess was a port from the Gamecube.

i mean im still a definate sheep but i mean i seriously dont think the wii has any real potential now. i kno some of the 3rd party devolopers are making the wii look really bad but i mean nintendo has to take some of the blame.

You shouldn't be a sheep. All those names mean is that you're biased beyone reason. Anyway, the Wii definitely has potential. We haven't even seen the best of the best. People are talking about the Wii and PS3 as if this generation has already passed. The PS3 and Wii have both only been out for a few months. There's no way to know what their real potential is until they've been out for at least a year or more. The third party developers aren't making the Wii look bad either. IMO, the only thing that is going against the Wii is all of the ports it seems to be getting. Third party devs are doing a much better job this round thanks to Nintendo finally attempting to open up.

Then don't buy a High-Def TV, just have a normal TV and play in standard definition if it scares you. You'd still get amazing graphics and great, fun gameplay. I love my Wii but I can't wait to finally get my hands on a Mass Effect machine.Â

I think Final Fantasy:CC is the best looking game going to be out on the wii. I think that game looks phenomenal. The first one never interested me so I never picked it up, but this one looks really good. It is a definate buy for me.Â
