What do you think is the best metroid game? or even just your favourite.
Mine is Metroid Prime hands down, then either super metroid, or metroid fusion. i love em all tho.

Metroid Prime is my favorite Metroid game. I do find it a little disheartening that Metroid Prime 3 is on the list, but apparenlty people like it. The pacing, the small levels, the lack of puzzles and the lack of variety in the overall game really made it seem like a less experience when compared to MP and MP2. Oh well.
The first Prime is just one of the greatest games ever created and that is not a topic open to discussion. It is to 3D games what Super Metroid is to 2D games. The atmosphere, the bosses, the puzzles, the design, the platforming: it all meshes perfectly. There isn't a single moment in MP I would change. I know some people are picky about hunting for the artifacts but it sure beats hunting for them in MP2 and 3. Those were terrible hunts. In Prime the artifacts held meaning to the story. I don't even remember why I had to hunt down those stupid tanks in MP3.
And the showdown with Meta-Ridley that led to the finale against Metroid Prime is just absolutely insane! And the Phendrana Drifts: yeah, we're talking one of the five greatest levels ever created. It's that awesome.
EDIT- I should mention that MP2's blatant key hunt was a little ridiculous. You spent the whole game hunting for keys. They didn't even hide it. :P
Yeah MP3 is easily the weakest of the Prime games. I actually thought MP3 was better than MP2 until I recently played through all three games again. MP2 is actually really damn good and MP3 was just trying to expand its fanbase with its linearity.Metroid Prime is my favorite Metroid game. Super Metroid is what defined the series as first-rate, so I'll have to go with that. Prime was pretty revolutionary too.

yeah, whats so cool about those 2 games is so many games have copied and used the framework they set down. Batman Arkham Asylum (stellar game) is based on the metroid prime formula when it comes to world design and sturcture, and there are countless games using the super metroid map and world structure as well.
It is between Metroid Prime and Super Metroid. I can see how anyone can go with either. They are both master pieces, nothing less. I'll choose Prime because it has a better (although not by a lot) atmosphere, and I love the different visors. Especially the scan visor:)
for me its harder to choose which metroid game is the best then choosing which zelda or mario game are the best.
Because the metroid series has many titles which i would consider equally good, simply because they dont do the same, but rather have a different approach on the metroid series.
i would say Metroid Prime, Super Metroid and Fusion being closest to nr.1
while Corruption is really really close second

I agree, although I didnt like Super Metroid as much as Zero Mission as Fusion. I can see why people would like Super Metroid more though.
I love Prime. I really enjoy the history in the Prime series as well as the idea, however the impact Super Metroid had on me was probably greater, if only by a hair, so it got my vote. The ghost ship was terrifying and the story was slightly more important.
As far as the best goes, I think we're all about to find out at the end of the month.
I am also very happy to hear that it takes off where Super Metroid left off.
So, I guess Nintendo Power ranked all the Metroid games in their past issue (not including Other M) .
9. Metroid Prime Hunters
8. Metroid II: Return of Samus
7. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
6. Metroid
5. Metroid Fusion
4. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
3. Metroid: Zero Mission
2. Metroid Prime
1. Super Metroid

Completely agree, and I was the same way as far as liking MP3 more than MP2 until playing them again recently. MP2 has really grown on me. But Super Metroid is my favorite in the series. Marginally ahead of Metroid Prime.Metroid Prime is my favorite Metroid game. I do find it a little disheartening that Metroid Prime 3 is on the list, but apparenlty people like it. They got it very wrong....the original Metroid is not better than Prime 2 and Corruption should be number 6. I would personally put Prime 1 before Super Metroid since I enjoyed it more than Super Metroid and the atmosphere and story-telling and level design etc, kicks the crap out of basically any game put up against it. 10. Metroid Prime Hunters (never really got to play, but a lot of people say that the single player is a travesty and that should not be possible for a Metroid game). 9. Metroid 8. Metroid II 7. Metroid Prime Pinball 6. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption 5. Zero Mission 4. Metroid Fusion 3. Metroid Prime 2 2. Super Metroid 1. Metroid Prime that is how I would rank them. So, I guess Nintendo Power ranked all the Metroid games in their past issue (not including Other M) .

Metroid Prime for me, followed by Super Metroid. I remember when I heard that metroid prime was going to be first person, I thought, "this is going to be terrible I want to see Samus from a 3rd person perspective". My statement was made false when I played the game, it totally won me over with its atmosphere, puzzles, and boss fights.

Metroid Prime Hunters should not even be on the list; it's not a Metroid game. :x

The game doesn't even have any metroids in it!
