Did anyone notice that multiplayer in SSX On Tour was implemented terribly?  When racing against a friend, if you get too far ahead of your competition, the game automatically brings your competitor forward to your current position.  This defeats the very purpose of multiplayer.

SSX Blur has implemented the very same "feature" in SSX Blur.  If you get more then 300 feet ahead of your competition, they are automatically brought forward to your position.  I asked EA about this and wondered whether it was a feature that could be turned off.  Their response is "It is not something that can be turned off. The reason for this is because the game is part of EA Sports Big, wherein it is more of a fantastical sport then a simulation."  The problems with this explanation are:

A)  So what?  If it's a fantastical sport you can't race somebody fairly?  This makes no sense.

B) The first 3 SSX titles were all part of EA Sports Big and were not affected by this.

Do not buy SSX Blur.  Let EA know that if they want us to buy their games they need to be acceptable at the very least.  A racing game without racing is simply not acceptable.

You also have to inform them about this 'flaw' too. Not buying their game will tell them that they're doing something wrong, but they won't know what's wrong if you don't tell them.

The game is fun, so you should buy it. I honestly don't think that most people buy this game for the multiplayer racing. Racing fans buy racing games, like Need for Speed or Gran Turismo. The single player game is excellent. On another note, I don't see you trying to ban Mario Kart, which has dozens of ways to bring someone from last place to first in an instant. Making the game more competitive to unskilled and skilled players alike makes it more fun.

Thanks for making that point, PikaPichu.  I agree completely.  Write to EA and tell them the multiplayer in On Tour and Blur blows chunks and they need to revise it if they want to keep their customers happy.  I did!

I loved the SSX franchise.  It was my favorite franchise ever... until they released SSX On Tour.  Because of the way multiplayer is implemented in both On Tour and Blur I do not like to play either of them.  It is frustrating to me as an SSX fan.  I sincerely hope they change the way they implement multiplayer for the next game.  My object is to raise awareness of what I perceive to be a fatal flaw in the game.  If you don't ever play SSX in multiplayer mode then continue in your blissful unawareness to enjoy the game.  But certainly, you must agree that there are a large number of people who want multiplayer or EA wouldn't add it in the first place.  To these people: let EA know their multiplayer implementation is inadequate.  I find it very difficult to believe that they themselves can make claims as to adequacy for this inept implementation.  It is ludicrous.

I've never played SSX multiplayer so I wouldn't know. Hopefully we'll see some online play in the next version.

Just because the multiplayer sucks doesn't mean you shouldn't buy the game. The single player campaign is terrific and well worth it. All you gotta do it make a petition to fix the multiplayer and Ill gladly sign it, but the game itself is very awesome, and every hardcore Wii owner should give it a shot.

Why do you want us to boycott one of the few good wii games that are out yet? That's just crazy, EA did a great job with this game so people should buy it.

What a silly reason to boycott a game, I agree with that system anyway, how lame is lapping opponents?

I agree totally, I totally love this games 1 player experience, I've not tried the 2 player mode but if so, it needs to be fixed and you should let EA know, but don't boycott it, its a seriously missed experienced and oppertunity if you do. Besides, EA Big might not give us another 1.... (not saying that should be the reason you buy it though)

Dude. You just mentioned on one small part of the game. Why don't you look at everything else? I happen to like this game and can't find to much wrong with it.

Boycotting the game over something so trivial sounds seriously over the top. So what if the player gets teleported if they fall too far behind. If you fell too far behind it would happen to you too so there is no disadvantage. Secondly, have you considered pop-up? If the whole level was being streamed at one time, there would be slow down. Prehaps this teleporting stops slow down by keeping the players close together so it only has to stream what is needed, rather than a bunch of trees you past 2 minutes ago... Fair enough this may or may not have happened in the first couple of SSX games, but perhaps they aren't as technically demanding as the newer games. This really is petty.

Who cares? Racing games employ this feature from time to time. Is it really fun for you to blow away your friends so badly that they have no chance of catching up? It seems like if you were doing that every single time (to the point where you obviously dont even want a game where you can't do it) then no one would want to play with you after a while, and then you don't even need multiplayer anyway. Paradox.

Sorry I already bought it lol, and if you can get 300 ahead of someone you should be able to win anyway.

i thought ssx blur looked great and controlled great, but the last few games have been missing the whole in your face ghetto ea sports BIG vibe to them. SSx tricky was so kickass, and i miss that feeling in an ssx game.

To me it would make it a more interesting challenge; if I was winning before there's no reason I shouldn't still be winning.

It's obvious our society is in serious trouble when someone complains that something is not "ghetto" enough.

The last thing we need in this world is more video games with rap tunes, "pimping" out this or that, or a bunch of "thugs" in the story. Seriously.... please....no.

Thats not what he means, EA Sport BIG games tend to have an urdan look and SSX Blur Doesn't have that look.
