I got this real problem in Brawl when playing offline the responses are 1:1 (GC controller). The moment a press button or tap the joystick it immedeately responds.

BUT... when I'm online and even when there's no lag I the control reactions are not 1:1. It hesitates a little bit. I get a lot problems when it comes to air and roll dodging as well as a few other button and joystick issues. It completely throws me off. And lag makes it even worse, whenever it occurs.

It's "1:1" when you're playing with people who live close to you and have good connections. People from different parts of the world are going to lag...

Get used to it thanks to the developer's horrible decision to make all movement require server verification before it happens on your end, causing everything to have a delayed reaction.

Only way I've found Brawl to be playable online without the latency being an issue is playing friend code matches against local people.

I thought all matches are hosted locally on one of the brawler's wii. It would explain why you get lag with people far away, but no lag with local people. If it was all going to some central server, it would be the same lag no matter who you played.

Unless I'm completely clueless as to how it all works.

so i guess im not the only one. i ve been playing a few matches gainst this guy thats been inviting me, his online status circle is mostly orange or sometimes yellow (not too good) and everytime we fight it seems like he's on turbo while im in slo-mo mode. his moves are linked one after the other while when i do ganondorfs forward b, nothing happens, ido up b, then i do his punch..at that moment, ganon performs the forward b and flys off stage, does up b more away from the stage and i die. other moves sometimes dont even recoginize while others are late enough that my opponent walk behind me and my moves go into the wrong directions. i got no chance watso ever. all i have to say is LAME.

I don't seem to have that problem when I'm playing with friends. But if I'm V.S anyone then I get what you mean. It is a little annoying but it happens to them too so it's kinda fair.

I have only experienced the problem a few times on "With Anyone". Play "With Friends" Just add a bunch of people to your friend list and it should be better. If no one is online the play "With Anyone". Sakurai said there would be lag depending on the distance between competitors.

you will definately have trouble online. the online really sucks. i'd stick to friend codes or even better having the friends at your house.

You just have to accept that online with anyone is currently sub par. Maybe they can patch it? Let's hope so:).

yep, i got used to it. just press the button ahead of time to pick up the items, and you'll be fine. i haven't had any big problems with it.

thats a bit of an exaggeration. Some games are good others are bad friend matchs are pretty flawless but you have to somehow notify your friends and thats a pain. The whole thing is clunky and Nintendo unnecessarily adds extra steps to the online process thats makes it so the average person who buys brawl to just forget it and play locally.
