Is it just me, or do the items thus far revealed for brawl seem overly cheap?

Look: http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/items/index.html

Especially note: Gooey Bomb, Cracker Launcher, Franklin Badge and Superspicy Curry.

Not to mention this: http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/howto/technique/technique01.html

Itemshave always been shunned anddisabled by the more fanatical and retardedly insecure players (who ALWAYS have to win) who believed that items added a random element that may affect the proper outcome of a battle (which, in their eyes, was them winning). Some of my friends being like this, I can hardly see myself getting to use any of these items nor am I sure that I want to have them used against me!

They just look too cheap. I'm all for items as equalisers, to help noobs against pros, but I'm not sure that using these items would be any fun. Having them used on you certainly wouldn't! Winning or losing so easily, based on a cheap arse item doesn't seem right to me...

Your thoughts?

I personally love the weapons in the Smash Bros. games, it doesn't feel like Smash Bros. when the items are turned off.

The way I look at it is that the items are part of the game. Wether you want to consider yourself a "Pro" or not they are there to be used. If your that good you'll find a way to get around them otherwise pay the price for someone else picking them up and not you. Items are one of the things that seprates Smash from all the other fighting games.

I think you sound like a bitter person who never seems to have items land near them
therefore never getting to them in time

there is still skill with items such as the home run bat, or the light saber
same with the guns and health regenerating items (since you need to get to them first!)

I do think a lot of the new items are cheap, but I'll turn them off if I don't like them.

I like using the items, and not because I suck at the game. In my opinion, items can make the game funner, and, like others said, help separate Smash from other fighting games. Even if I lose because someone grabbed a certain item, I don't care because I played the game to have fun, not because I'm bent on winning.

The only item that seemed cheap in my opinion was using the Smash attack for a home run bat. I've never done that to people. It just feels a bit too cheap. Instead, I just throw it at people.

If you want fun, go into Sudden Death mode with only pokeballs on Very High.

I like to do something similar to that: go into Super Sudden Death on a 2-minute match against the level 9ers. I'll have to try your idea, too.

Items are what make Smash Bros...............Smash Bros, other wise its just a boring Side-locked Fighter.

Yes, i do suck, compared to the pro's, but I'm just not a "Play to Win" gamer.

Despite what the Self-Proclaimed "Pro's" Have Deluded themselves into thinking, Items add lot of fun to a game, they only see the game as something they need to Conquer and "Be the Best" at, thus feeding there need to win at all costs.

I've done that before too :P.
But what I really liked to dowas toturn off all the items and let the winner of each round pick 4 - 5 items to turn on.
