Hi, I'm Hiroitt. I am a citizen of Arkansas, where i purchased my 3ds. I am not American by birth, though. I was born in Germany, we moved to brazil when i was 5, then moved again to Arkansas when i was 15. I'm now 17. I speak German and Portuguese natively, but here in America i can only ever find videogames in English, and quite rarely, in Spanish. I've found ONE in French when we went to Quebec last summer. I have a hard time understanding what I'm supposed ot be doing in English games, and REALLY want to play some in German or Portuguese. Sadly, the 3ds is regionlocked, so importing games from there wouldn't work, would it? If i had one of my friends from Brazil buy, say Pokemon Platinum in Brazil, where the game would be in Portuguese, and he ships it to me, would I be able to play it on my American 3ds?

brazil receives the north american version of the game, so tough luck. it would run perfectly on your 3DS, but it would be in english. basically, all of america (north, central and south) receives one copy of the game, which plays in english, and rarely with spanish and french support too. but portuguese? last i checked the only game with portuguese subtitles were the assassin's creed games for the PS3, and even then it might be because i have the EU version of those. as for german, i recall it being one of the supported languages in EU versions of games, but i can't confirm. plus, you'd need an european 3DS.

Absurdly enough, several games with French/Spanish support are distributed in English only here in America, Pokémon being one of those Anyway, some companies as EA almost always include Spanish and French in this region, as well as Ubisoft. I hope you like some of their games. If it is viable for you, perhaps a PAL 3DS with import games will work best for you Regards

Wrong. In the case of pokemon, nintendo makes spanish versions too. it's been like that since blue/red.

I dont believe they make games in Arkansasian here in the US. Maybe you could get a translator that could translate the English into Arkansasian as you play? Sorry Im just kidding, my step mom is from Arkansas, and she is a biotch, so I kind of dont like that state. You should just buy a PAL version and import your games. I know that kind of sucks spending more money on another 3DS, but you could probably atleast resell your old one and get some of the money back. Good luck!

He's speaking of Latin America. I've been to some gamestores in Latin America and I can vouch for his statement. Since the entire American continent is under the same region for 3DS software he compared it to Latin American software where a huge chunk of the continent speaks spanish, yet some games that in Europe are available in Spanish are only in english in Latin America.

If you buy a German DS game and want to play it on your American 3DS then it will work fine. The problem is if you want to play a German 3DS game and want to play it on your American 3DS; that won't work because the 3DS is region-locked to other 3DS games.
