So I just found out that the L shoulder button on my DS phat doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't know why it would have stopped working like this since I haven't done anything to it could have broken it. It's just stopped working. Anyone know if this is a common issue or how to fix it? Would the warranty on a DS phat bought a couple months after launch still be live or has it long since expired? Is it even worth paying Nintendo to repair it or should I just go out and get myself a lite or DSi (that won't be happening for probably another three months though).

I can tell you this is not a very common problem. The ds phat is supposed to be pretty solid. it's the ds lite that has a very big problem with it's l and r buttons

Same thing is happening to my DS phat but on the R trigger. But it still works, but its just a little messed up, good thing I'm buying a DSi soon.

That's exactly what happened to my first DS Phat. I kept having to press down really hard on the L button for it to work. The warranty's only for one year though so it's long expired. Maybe try taking it apart and see if there's crap clogging the area. You could also search google for a DIY fix.

Did you try blowing on the button? I mean put your lips around it. I'm not kidding, I've heard several times that it actually helps. IMO it could be because of the dust that collects under the L/R buttons.

form a perfect seal around the l button with your lips so that it looks as though you ae kissing it. blow really really hard. worked for my ds lite. this is only a temporary solution. occasionally you will have to blow in it again

Well I'll be damned, kissing the DS worked :| I had to press hard on the button at first after doing it but now it works just fine. Thanks everyone.

How long does this fix usually last anyway? And is there a limit to how many times it'll work?
