Sorry to spam on the board, but I was one of the few people to buy Little King's Story and I can say without much doubt that it is the most fun I've had with a game in ages (in fact I can't remember any instance when I had this much fun or played for this long), and the best game available for the Wii, or that's at least my current thought about it.

That said, I'm saddened to see it selling so poorly. It was destined to sell lowly because of how misleading the title and general look is (really, Little King's Story? It honestly sounds like a game that would be rated EC), but this game is the deepest and longest game of the generation, something no one should be missing. The people who worked on LKS aren't getting the credit or recognition they deserve, and we need more games with this sort of depth. The more it sells, the more it will show we want hardcore games. Yes, say what you want about its looks, this is a hardcore game. It's hugely challenging, the world is massive, and the gameplay is completely free world, and entirely built of strategizing and a hybrid of many great genres. Wrapped in the same package or a more hardcore appealing package, we need more games like this. Please buy this game, both for your current enjoyment, and the future of Wii gaming.

i second this i pre-ordered it and i played it for a while (my wii is down, and i decided not to fix it until my summer school is done), and it is one of the best games on wii definitely. If it had IR aiming, it would have been the best game on wii for me. This is my Valkyria Chronicles on Wii :D

I'm definitely in the minority here but I really think IR pointing would have been a hassle and with so many units to select selecting a single one would be extremely difficult and frustrating. I think the controls feel more natural without IR, and wouldn't change it at all, except perhaps making the targeting system snap to targets quicker when there is only one or a few. Other than that minor tweak (which really makes little difference), I'd keep em the way they are. If you're only near the beginning of the game then it's a really premature judgment. Unless you're up to the 5th major boss or so, you can't really appreciate its depth and creativity. Controls seem insignificant when you're in awe of the magnificent bosses and scenery. No spoilers about it, but King TV Dinnah might just be the best boss battle ever.

I bought it in Aus. the second day it was out (months ago). It's a great game and missing IR control isn't really that much of an issue.

Fought the Deadly Red Turnip yet? Won't reveal anything about it for the people who haven't, but it gave me quite some trouble, then I forgot to save and had to do it again :P. I'm fighting the Blue Dragon right now and holy crap is it hard. Oh yeah, one more great thing about the game: in many games, side quests often feel like tedious ways to make the main game easier and cooler by unlocking something special, but in LKS they never feel like a hassle. The side quests are just as enthralling and rewarding as the main quests. In fact, after every big boss, I find myself rushing to my throne eager to see what side quests I can accept. Also when you have to just to do some random treasure hunting to raise money, a fairly tedious task that would typically bore you, you find yourself getting into it like any other aspect of the game. In other words there's just never a dull moment in this game. If there ever is, it's immediately saved by something amazing that comes right after. How massive the world of the game is is really what keeps the game so consistently fun. The world is massive, absolutely dwarfing the worlds of games like Legend of Zelda, and it's made even better by your constant expansion and building in every area of your conquered lands.

Well yeah it was easy once I figured out just to have 4 soldiers go in with me so they wouldn't all die, but it took me a while. What are you stuck on for TV Dinnah? Are you bad at geography? Do you even know what you're supposed to do? Here's a hint if you haven't figured this out: look carefully at the ground and the shape of the grass, then notice the placements of the dots. If you're just having trouble beating him, but you know what to do, here was my strategy: 5 farmers, a Saavy Merchant, and the rest all soldiers. You'll know what to do. I beat him twice since I also forgot to save my game for this, but I didn't mind at al since it was just so fun haha.

OK, OK, I'll buy it! Aaahh! Stop pressuring me!!!

:P lol jk

I wanted to buy the game, but I wasn't able to get a ride. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be getting the game, though, 'cause I'm gonna' be getting Metroid Prime Trilogy this month. Hopefully I can Little King's Story next month.

But then I have to pass on Muramasa!

:P

(I'm only able to get ONE game per month, that's why.)

It'll sell better when it's mulitplat and those total sales between platforms will allow them to make a second

how can you not be worried with the dismal sales? Although NA did receive it quite better than EU.Almost ALMOST a warm reception.Unless you dont care much about the game.Xseed stated RFF was doing "OK" in sales so i guess they dont need much copies sold to recoup expenses.

Because it's only selling poorly on the Wii

It's going to be on other consoles and all of them will sell well as a joint effort

Its a pretty good game, I love the Pikmin like gameplay but you dont get a whole lot of control with your troops and requiting troops to go to battle is unnecessarily difficult. This is one game that I feel could be greatly benefited by the use of motion control. Still, one of the best games I have played this year

the sequal (if there is going to be one) may very well be a multiplat. but i dont see the first one going to the 360, PC or PS3. the devs would need to spend a significant amount of money upgrading the games tech to make it palatable to the PS3 and 360s markets. i dont think the sales would justify the expense. the game is very much geared towards wii hardware so porting it over properly would not be trivial. a port to the PSP and PS2 could work though (if they could get the PS2s DVD drive to keep up). the PSP especially could be another good platform for it...LKS would also be a pretty good portable game. anywho its a great game. i got it when it launched in europe.

No, the first one is going to be multiplat

They don't have to do much to release it elsewhere

Slow sales on the Wii are only one part of the revenue it'll see. The game will expand to many different platforms and be safe from there

Do you honestly think that a game like Little King's Story will be that well and much better received on the Xbox 360 and PS3 to warrant not only porting or, even more costly, remaking the game for those systems AND still being enough to convince a sequel? That's asking a lot for a game of this kind. Besides, we haven't even seen exactly how well or poorly this game is doing on the Wii. I'm not saying that the game is flying off shelves right now, but couldn't we at least give it a bit more time to see if word-of-mouth and positive impressions are helping this game move a few copies before proclaiming that it's failing and would be better off on the HD systems?

As for my take on the main topic itself, I've stated a few times that I'm not a fan of "buy *insert game here*" threads, but seeing as how this is a game that is acutally out, I can't say I'm too bothered by it at the moment. Still, I think time would be better spent into actual reviews and the like, but what do I know...? :P That, and I've actually played the game myself. Personally, I couldn't get into it the way I had hoped, but I've already told myself that I would pick it up and give it another chance when I had some change to spare and at a time where new releases of big name games were a bit dry. The game's charm at least warrants a rental for anyone who's on the fence about it, I think.

I am about to finish it after over 35 hours of gameplay and all I will say is that it is probably the Wii's GOTY. I know the year isn't over but the only game I see right now that could compete with LKS is New Super Mario Bros.

I honestly don't see it. Wouldn't they lose even more money if it's to be, as you say, multi-platform?

Haha you fail at trolling. Little King's Story might be better than any game on either of the other two consoles. Not that it takes much to beat the PS3, but the 360 has some great games. The Wii has the best games, they just aren't produced as frequently as 360 games.

Knowing myself I'm going with rabid fanboyism before trolling. Actually when he's on the Wii board posting how it's not a console (I know he wasn't now, but I thought he wrote that sig just to piss people off), there's reason to respond with my honest opinion.

I'm starting to wonder if the problem with its sales isn't lack of interest, it's just that they don't think there is as much interest as there is, so there are very few in stock. Anyway just use gamestop.com. Probably the best bet.

It's selling 2k every week in "others" on VGchartz. America doesn't look accurate with only one week showing.

LKS is my GOTY. I love it. Oh, but the Wii haters. They say no good games are out. Then I cry because LKS always gets put out of their mind. ( Alright, I don'y cry, but still :P) Why is it the good Wii games that go unnoticed? I would love to see people who aren't comfotable with the Wii play LKS. That game alone would blow them away.

I've completely forgotten about not having fat princess, this is way better. :D

Ok, so i took your advice and bought LKS today. I am glad i did. The game is very charming and witty. It reminds me of the old days with Nintendo, deeply engaging, strange and unique. Dare i say, without insult, but it reminds me of a N64 game in several ways. Just the style i suppose. The pointing controls are a bit cumbersome, but thats only a minor complaint. But just like everyone keeps saying over and over again, get LKS if you are looking for a good game.

I really like the controls. I found pointing with the Wiimote all the time in Battalion Wars 2 really irritating. I was really glad to just have normal controls, lol.

If something reminds me of an N64 game that's a great thing, the N64 is the greatest console ever. No matter how technologically games get, few will ever be as good as the N64 classics. Little King's Story feels like an N64 with a MASSIVE graphical upgrade. No denying it. The closer a game is to an N64 game, the better. In fact the only games on the Wii that have really captured the old N64 spirit are Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (duh its an OoT clone, but thats not a bad thing), Super Mario Galaxy, LKS, and Metroid Prime 3 kind of catches the Perfect Dark spirit.

Never played it, but I agree these controls are preferable to IR. I don't know what the big fuss is. That would've made it easier to target, but much harder to select and send units. Besides, in targeting mode the line will snap to the nearest target, so just keep it in targeting mode constantly and it's perfect. I also like the idea of making this thread 100 pages so everyone buys it XD.

That's what I'm doing. However, on the off-chance that this game actually sells quite bit over the first few months. I will be more than happy to fork over 50 dollars for it.8)

Just picked it up today along with Wii Sports Resort. Haven't had time to play it yet but I will soon. I love Harvest Moon, City Builders, and RTS games so I had to at least try this out.

You'll love it. I think it's impossible to not like this game. It's just so brillant and such a classic, the little kings footprints make this toy sqweaking noise when he runs around. XD

There's nothing we can do about what people find popular or buy, they should have hired market researcher or something or put it on the PS3 or givin him a big sword or something. 150k - 200 isn't too bad really.

We can let everyone know what a great game it is though by word of mouth and make this thread MASSIVE! :D

I blame the name for poor sales. Little King's Story. Ok every word in that sounds like a kiddy game, except for king, and the word king loses all hardcore appeal when "little" is put before it. But ya I don't know how to not like this game. Just totally amazing. I'm scared to play it because I'm near the end and I'm worried about this amazing game ending :P hahaha.
