Just back into this game last night after having it sit on the shelf for a couple of months. I have to say that while it's fun it also also hugely, massively repetitive in gameplay. There are some parts where you have to play the same area over and over again just to strengthen your troops and to earn money for the improvements. I just got the hunter hut - it took me about 8 trips to the mushroom area to get enough money for that. Good game, but like I say, incredibly repetitive.

Repetitive? Same area? You're not doing it right. At all. Are you doing missions in the suggestion box? That's how you're supposed to raise money. I never once in the game had to make anywhere near 8 trips to get something. At most I'd occasionally have to make 2 runs for treasure, and it was usually only because there was something unnecessary I wanted. You're clearly not doing everything you can in the game. You don't even need hunters, you could have killed the Onii King with all Grunt Soldiers, then used the money you just got. You're making the game more linear than need be, you don't seem to be doing side missions for money like you're supposed to. PAnd SAME AREA? Are you kidding, the scale of the world of LKS is giant, walking across the whole thing would take an hour, there's no reason to constantly be in the same place. Plus you just got HUNTERS. That's the beginning of the game pretty much. How can you judge a game off the first 10%? You can't. It's probably one of the most varied games I've ever played, not a single boss ever has the same strategy as the last. Sorry if I'm overreacting, but this game needs help selling, and the last thing it needs is anything negative about it, and unless you have legitimate reason to say it's repetitive, meaning you've played at least half the game, and you're actually doing everything you can in the game instead of treasure hunting for all your money, please don't make complaints, you're just gonna turn people off of the game because they don't know you have no clue what you're doing. And geez I just looked at all your scores and you're overly critical to any game with any depth. You gave Tetris DS a 10/10 and Super Monkey Ball a 9.0/10 and gave games like Super Mario Galaxy and Fallout 3 8s and gave No More Heroes a 6.5? Are you doing the same thing as this with every game? It seems you like all the simpler games more because there's nothing to figure out or discover. Not trying to rip on you or anything, but still.
As to my game ratings, well, everyone's a critic and enjoys different stuff. I really enjoy complex and deep games but maybe just see particular titles differently from you. A nine or 10 rating from me would mean the game has to be really exceptional. Eight to me means very good/excellent. Anyway...
I just played a bit more, right now, and beat the Oni King very easily with the hunters and now I've gotten more money and stuff and built most of the new buildings. I don't know if I'm playing the game 'wrong' but before I got to the Oni King I had cleared out all of the other areas and collected all the treasure that I could. but I still needed more than 3 million to buy the hunter hut - collecting which took loads of fighting enemies over and over - if you're lucky, you can earn maybe 800,000 bo after battling a bit. Perhaps I spent too much money early on buying absolutely every improvement that I could before moving on. I've actually never noticed any side missions come up, so maybe I really missed something there. Got lots of letters and such, but no offers of missions - just the main quests.
Anyway, in case anyone should doubt it, I will say that Little Kings Story is one of the best games I've played on the Wii so far and I would strongly encourage people to try it. I myself do find it repetitive but enjoyable :)
