Just back into this game last night after having it sit on the shelf for a couple of months. I have to say that while it's fun it also also hugely, massively repetitive in gameplay. There are some parts where you have to play the same area over and over again just to strengthen your troops and to earn money for the improvements. I just got the hunter hut - it took me about 8 trips to the mushroom area to get enough money for that. Good game, but like I say, incredibly repetitive.

Repetitive? Same area? You're not doing it right. At all. Are you doing missions in the suggestion box? That's how you're supposed to raise money. I never once in the game had to make anywhere near 8 trips to get something. At most I'd occasionally have to make 2 runs for treasure, and it was usually only because there was something unnecessary I wanted. You're clearly not doing everything you can in the game. You don't even need hunters, you could have killed the Onii King with all Grunt Soldiers, then used the money you just got. You're making the game more linear than need be, you don't seem to be doing side missions for money like you're supposed to. PAnd SAME AREA? Are you kidding, the scale of the world of LKS is giant, walking across the whole thing would take an hour, there's no reason to constantly be in the same place. Plus you just got HUNTERS. That's the beginning of the game pretty much. How can you judge a game off the first 10%? You can't. It's probably one of the most varied games I've ever played, not a single boss ever has the same strategy as the last. Sorry if I'm overreacting, but this game needs help selling, and the last thing it needs is anything negative about it, and unless you have legitimate reason to say it's repetitive, meaning you've played at least half the game, and you're actually doing everything you can in the game instead of treasure hunting for all your money, please don't make complaints, you're just gonna turn people off of the game because they don't know you have no clue what you're doing.

And geez I just looked at all your scores and you're overly critical to any game with any depth. You gave Tetris DS a 10/10 and Super Monkey Ball a 9.0/10 and gave games like Super Mario Galaxy and Fallout 3 8s and gave No More Heroes a 6.5? Are you doing the same thing as this with every game? It seems you like all the simpler games more because there's nothing to figure out or discover. Not trying to rip on you or anything, but still.

As to my game ratings, well, everyone's a critic and enjoys different stuff. I really enjoy complex and deep games but maybe just see particular titles differently from you. A nine or 10 rating from me would mean the game has to be really exceptional. Eight to me means very good/excellent. Anyway...

I just played a bit more, right now, and beat the Oni King very easily with the hunters and now I've gotten more money and stuff and built most of the new buildings. I don't know if I'm playing the game 'wrong' but before I got to the Oni King I had cleared out all of the other areas and collected all the treasure that I could. but I still needed more than 3 million to buy the hunter hut - collecting which took loads of fighting enemies over and over - if you're lucky, you can earn maybe 800,000 bo after battling a bit. Perhaps I spent too much money early on buying absolutely every improvement that I could before moving on. I've actually never noticed any side missions come up, so maybe I really missed something there. Got lots of letters and such, but no offers of missions - just the main quests.

Anyway, in case anyone should doubt it, I will say that Little Kings Story is one of the best games I've played on the Wii so far and I would strongly encourage people to try it. I myself do find it repetitive but enjoyable :)

So, after 7.5 hours of playing LKS I can see that the game is starting to open up - I've now gotten multiple quests to do. So, perhaps rather than saying it's repetitive, I should adjust my opinion and say that it's a slow starter. Even if I'm a very slower player who likes to check out everything before moving on, I'd say that you need to give LKS at least 3 or 4 hours to really get a feel for it. I may even have to eat my words and say that I was wrong :) Go out and buy LKS, but be sure to take the time to let the story develop.

I really want this game, but do you think this game is better than New. Super Mario Bros Wii or Tatsunoko vs Capcom? I know they aren't out yet but I don't know if I have to save my money for those games or buy Little King's Story now.

The kind of advertisement this game is getting by word of mouth from sooooo many gamers is the kind of advertisement effort that should be put into getting games that everybody wants such as a new Donkey Kong Country Wii, Perfect Dark Wii, Star Fox Wii, F Zero Wii, KOF 2002 Unlimited Match, and others. Threads, such as this, should be made for alot more games that everybody wants. This is the reason why the Wii keeps getting kiddy looking games (Which I am fine with) and why everybody keeps ragging on the Wii for having such looking games. Not saying it is the sole reason for little effort into graphical areas of games on Wii but it is indeed a reason for it. If games that look like this keep selling then why make something more graphically impressive that sells way less? Make no sense from a business perspective.

There we go that's what I wanted to make you do. Sorry if I was too harsh but I figured seeming serious about you doing it wrong would make you play more :P.

I personally think LKS will be worth your money more than New SMB Wii because it's a new idea and the game lasts much, much longer. I dunno about the other one, but it just sounds like a kinda generic fighting game to me. Were I in your position I definitely would go for LKS. Really if you're saving up for a game in the future I'd be saving up for Metroid Other M or Super Mario Galaxy 2, but unless you're saving for those I wouldn't give it much though, just go for Little King's Story. It needs the support anyway, doubt the other games do.

I was quite surprised to come onto the thread I created actually people saying they bought this game off my (and anyone else who agreed with me's) recommendation. I'm wondering if we need to start forums everywhere about how much we want "Game X" to be made, and drag it on to 100 pages or something :P.

It is hard to say because those aren't out yet but it is a big contender for Wii's GOTY. Now excuse me because even though I have finished it I still have tons of quests to do. I can't stop playing this game. :P

It has a few flaws but the biggest one is being too addictive.

Theres hidden treasure around at the start. Specifically enough to not have to farm.

I played it for like two days straight, lol. Then the map just became so huge and complicated, it's really big.

Also Little King's Story is the 6th most popular Wii game on gamespot at the moment.

Eventhough it got great reviews, I still think it looks boring.

I'm still not convinced.

Edit: I'm afraid it will be like The World Ends With You. "Oh! It's the best game ever! Get it now!", so I finally got it, and didn't like it.

30-40 hours I'd say. If you don't find the screenshots amusing it might not be for you. It's got great gameplay, not boring at all, theres allways things to do, explore, upgrade your kingdom, quest, dig up things, fight monsters. If you like Pikmin or Viva Pinata or Harvest Moon I'd say give it a look. It's kinda like Harvest Moon but fun, you have goals and a followers and an empire to expand and fight things and other kings.

Dragon Quest + Pikmin + Harvest Moon + Age of Empires. If you don't like any of those games, probably not for you. :p

Waaaaaaaaay better than TWEWY. The reason TWEWY got great reviews was because it was a JRPG, and it was reviewed under the criteria of a JRPG (i.e. heavy dialogue, weird characters, etc.). It's a great game that you can't judge without playing. If you're not sure you can rent it on Gamefly or something to try, but I assure it is fantastic, so there is no need.

Haha EXACT SAME THING FOR ME! Got it the first day and played it obsessively then had to go to a training camp (sports) for a week, and came back, and I played it obsessively then too!

If you try to do EVERY last thing in the game, every side mission, every side boss (I did all of those), and then do all the things your 7 wives (yes your a polygamist) ask you to, it could easily take near that. I have 29 hours of gameplay recorded, though it's much more like mid-40s to low-50s because it's hard enough you'll have to try a lot of bosses multiple times, and the bosses take a loooooong time. Replaying never seems too frustrating though, at least for me, I was having too much fun to care.

I dunno the visuals didn't turn me onto the game, it took videos to do that. The visuals are amazing in motion but screens are a little boring.

It took me slightly over 40 hours and I completed a big part of the quests. If you are going for full completion it will take 50 hours to do so but if you just follow the regular quest without doing anything on the side I would say around 25 hours.

Eh there are 8 bosses so you're about half way. Plus there's some other stuff you'll have to do later sooo.... ENJOY!

And by the way, I'm on the final boss (Wii is paused, waiting for me to resume), and it's a really cool boss and the whole way this game is wrapping up is just so unexpected and fantastic, but the final boss IS INSANELY HARD! I finally figured out a basic pattern, so I should be able to take him down tomorrow.

You think that's obsessive? Within my first 24 hours of owning it i played for 19 hours XD!!!! Hahaha, had a friend come over at 2 PM, expected to play to like 11 and switch to another game for a break, but we couldn't. We played for 16.5 straight hours. Or more I played, he watched, which he never minds, which is the weirdest thing. I constantly ask "You wanna try" and he always just says "Nah I'm good." :P But that's a big testament to the game, it kept his interest for 16.5 hours and he didn't even want to play it. Then we slept 5 hours, and played until 12 when he left, then I played until 5. So basically I played this game 24 hours straight with 5 hours of sleep...... don't give me that look!!!!

I never want to play a game that much that I just bought because I worry that I'll beat it two days after I bought it:P Except Brawl, and Mario Kart's online, I played for around 20-24 hours the first day. If I'm doing another play through of a game, like LKS or SMG, than I will play for long periods. But not my first time. And that's the same with me. I bought Pikmin and Madworld the same day with some friends and went to my house. I put in Madworld and played for a bit, asking if they wanted to try, even the multiplayer. They said they had more fun watching the violence than than they would have playing it:P

I love to pick it up but no place in my area has it for retail and I can't find it online either.

Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart all have it online. The Gamestop web site also says several stores in my area have it in stock (though I don't know how accurate that claim is).

I'm in Canada however so they won't ship it here.

Eventhough it got great reviews, I still think it looks boring.

I'm still not convinced.

Edit: I'm afraid it will be like The World Ends With You. "Oh! It's the best game ever! Get it now!", so I finally got it, and didn't like it.

Sorry. :( I suggest putting your country in your profile. I checked your profile before posting to see whether you were in the US or not. Since you didn't have a profile I went ahead and posted.

I will keep that in mind. It sucks but I can't find Rune Factory Frontier either. Xseeds distrubution channels suck. atleast I've been able to track down Klonoa.

Lol, I was getting into it , and couldn't put it down, so it sucked when I had to go after only a week of owning it:( Ive been back for 24 hours now, and my wii says I've played for 14 hours:P I've beat so many quests and 2 kings in that time. It sucked though, because I had my Wii on today, and in my city (Cambridge, Ontario) got a big storm and it knocked out the power. It was for like, 3 seconds, but it shut my Wii off. I went to it after it happened (I paused it to get some food) and I was like "OMG!" and I had to about 7 of those quests and 1 boss again because I was in the middle of one boss and did all those quests after it:evil: Oh well, just another excuse too keep playing;)

JohnBean42

Ya same with me and Mad World with the same person. I actually had two people over and one wouldn't stop complaining and criticizing, clearly he didn't like it because it wasn't Japanese and he's a freak. So despite me and my other friend really enjoying it we HAD to play Brawl for the other one's amusement (not that that's a big deal really). I actually had to convince the first one to play the multiplayer. I try to drag out LKS as long as I possibly can, doing everything but the princess quests, which I'll do after I beat the game. Speaking of which I'm still paused right after dying at the final boss so I'll have to try that again later.
