I kind of want the Zelda edition but all those games coming soon that will use two circle pads makes me want to wait for a system update. Ahhh can't decide!bloom467The circle pad will not be required by any game. Every game supports it only as an option. I'd say now is about the best time to jump on board and buy a 3DS.
I say just get the circle pad expansion. I do not believe any 3DS Lite or remodel with the circle pad will happen anytime soon, and even if it does, it probably won't increase the comfort and ergonomics of the 3DS like the circle pad expansion will.

This. They probably won't do a total makeover until the next gen handheld comes out. It just wouldn't be practical.
There will not be a 3DS revision with Circle Pad Pro built in.
Four shoulder buttons in a handheld device, especially the size in the CPP, isn't possible and not make it as big as an iPad or Wii U controller.
There will be a revision, and it will likely maintain similar dimensions as the 3DS to work with the CPP, or make a new CPP to work with it.
I could see them simply adding a second camera on the inside, making the screens marginally bigger, like 3.6 or 3.75 inches without actually making the device much bigger itself.
Nintendo told us they have no plans what so ever to make a new model. The extra circle pad is an addon.

You have to consider that Nintendo has a vested interest in us not thinking there is going to be a new model; they want to sell us the one they have now, not wait. You can't really take it at face value.
IF (and that's a big if for the next two years) nintendo releases a new 3DS model (a 3DS lite as you put it), you will have access to all of its functionalities AND you'll still be able to play games with your friends, even if they have a different model.ummum im confused there is no revision right?its just an optional attachment?
If there was a revision would I be able to play with people who have a 3ds lite even if I had a normal 3ds?

I say buy the 3DS at a best price that you can afford, I have doubts that they would make new model anytime soon.

It will be nothing but another controller option, you can wait for it or you can buy the peripheral, either ones good.
Because some gamers need such configuration for the types of games they like to play. Having a second pad also opens up a few other buttons which might get consumed in emulating a second pad/ stick in the current configuration - And so too, the touch screen can be utilized differently if the surface is freed up from providing basic navigation controls. I've enjoyed FPS with the stylus on my DS Lite, but if I could get a "home" FPS feel to a portable and keep that Nintendo Quality I have been so happy with for decades (instead of the broken crap "other company's" hardware), I'm all over it.

I bought one on launch day, and I say wait it out. I'm not to happy about having to carry some big attachment around. People will say it isn't required, but if it enhances gameplay ten-fold, it more or less is, ya know?
So yes, only buy one if you are desperately seeking the games that are just coming out, or on the horizon. Sales are taking off in Japan, and I wouldn't be surprised if the 3DS remodel happens at this years TGS or E3. I'm thinking it will be on sale sooner rather than later. It most certainly will likely arrive at a shopping period BEFORE the holidy 2012 rush, because that is likely when WiiU will launch.
[QUOTE="mikeyMKII"]2.0 isnt coming out in a few days... did you read the thread?Get a 3DS at the lowest price in a few days or wait for 3DS 2.0, for full price? That's your call.

There are going to be great sales in a few days, or a remake sometime in the future...did you read the thread?
Nintendos full focus is on the Wii U right now when it comes to a new system. There wont be a 3DS lite, 3DSi or 3DSi XL. Nintendo isnt making any new models of the 3DS besides new colours like the Red, White and Silver one. As for the lol circle pad its a usless thing IMO I have no intrest in it at all.
